I think its just bc a lot of people here love Lana and probably disliked seeing her let down on camera after campaigning for the Grammys and sorta just being ambushed. They were making a big fuss and praising her but ultimately just used her something something about being an artist that shaped a new wave of music but then praising Eillish for her emergence and current pop relevancy when for the most part both had moody music, but they ultimately went for Eillish bc she was current even if Lana was considered to be a lot more original and let's face it less in ur face gimmicky trended how Eillish might be easily more perceived. Both do mold culture greatly it's just that Lana's usually just forgotten even when an entire sleu of artists began trying to replicate her sound. The way artists had a wave of trying real hard to sound like Rihanna, and currently like Ariana w their vocals and song content. I do think she's an underdog in that sense and she's usually more picked on, and praised only when it benefits publications etc. It's just shallow and fake so it probably extends that mindset to fans but thing is and we know this is that pop culture n music shouldnt be rules of thumb for measuring quality. Thats always been a clash. Lana's just extremely underappreciated while culture benefits from the stuff that she does without getting the proper credit she DESERVES. Which can be frustrating. So maybe that's where it stems. Wanting her to be treated better and if not, just fairly. Personally, I think perspective'll show how her work is ahead of her peers when it comes to her wordage, consistency and trademark original sound etc. But it'd also be great if she was appreciated in the now too. It can be difficult already knowing things ahead of others, and then being paid dust and having someone else take credit because of favoritism. It lacks integrity as society.

ok i know its a hot topic on here but im like so glad she has For Free on the tracklist. I feel like what really sets Lana apart from all the other popgirls and alt girls in the game rn is like they are all having their moments and stuff and some of the greats in the music industry might say something nice about them in an interview, but Lana actually knows the greats music (joni, bruce, bob etc) very well and takes direct inspiration from them fused with her own pure talent. Like i really don't think Billie Eyelash ever listens to Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan or anyone like that, but Lana does and it shows. And shes praised by those same greats like Springsteen. And she has an impressive collab list, Sean Ono Lenon(yuck but impressive name), Stevie Nicks, as well as a covers list, Nina, Joni, etc. Lana is just so far ahead of her peers

For the longtest time I thought the chorus of Salvatore was “Ah ah ah ah ah salvatoreeee”. One day I met a Lana stan and he asked me what my favorite Lana song was and I said Salvatore to show him I knew the deep cuts. I was so excited to meet someone IRL who loved Lana, I just started singing the chorus in front of him and then he told me “actually it's cacciatore” and I haven't recovered since

Do you guys listen to a new record with people around? I need complete isolation, noise cancellation, and a hazy IPA or a Moscow Mule by my side. Then I feel free to laugh, cry, be vulnerable, process, and judge the music.

My type of thread yay I used to talk to Lana in DMs and she confirmed the lyrics for me. It's calciatore: The official lyrics for Fuck It I Love You are: "Jazz is in my veins, running out of time"

Another lyrical mystery helped solved by live performances! Can I get a fucking hallelujah? I've been working on you like I'm back in school Can I get a fucking hallelujah? I've been sipping on you like a Coco Cool Can I get a fucking hallelujah? I've been working on you like I'm back in school Can I get a fucking hallelujah? I've been sipping on you like a Coco Cool, yeah Example here at 1:43 -

i know ya'll aren't technically comparing eilish and lana but i find it so insulting to lana when they're described as both having moody music, it's like comparing madonna to melanie martinez or justin bieber

I don't see anyone mentioning the "it's beautiful, LSD/how this deep/I'll escape/honestly/I probably forgot another one" mess

i can't believe we're only 4 weeks away, i haven't been this excited for a lana album in so long mainly because of past pre releases that were either so short or too long but COCC has so much to live up to i know she won't disappoint

I think I'll listen to the album for the first time in my living room, at midnight, with a box of chocolate and wine. Then I'll go to the yard to smoke. Feeling v unhealthy compared with y'all.

I won't compare Billie to Lana since Billie is much younger and has years and years of developing in front of her. But the way Lana uses her references separates her from everyone else. NFR is a prime example since it's built on them. Lana's world as a whole is built from a reference on top of a reference. It does show her "level of knowledge" of those artists or even places. What I dislike is when people say "Well isn't she a songwriter? Why can't she express herself better on social media and interviews?". They are not connected in any way and many don't seem to understand that.

"How this deep normality settles down over me" makes the most sense IMO, bc she's talking about going to shop at Brentwood market so it's "deeply normal" but she enjoys it IYKWIM. I wouldn't understand why'd she throw LSD in there.

I always hear "you take the whale" in High By The Beach, which is a great mental image.

This line actually turned out to be neither of these, but rather: "tell me songs at night 'bout your favourite girl" It can be heard clearly during this performance at 1:27 - Live performances can be a great resource to weed out those uncertain lyrics. It also helped solved the PWYC bridge mystery. I think the two biggest unsolved lyrical mysteries for me will always be Bel Air & Trash Magic Grenadine sunshine ????? Darling I'm waiting to greet you & Used to go to the ??? Where you'd buy me a slice of cherry pie

I isolate as well! Give myself a chance to feel completely submerged and succumb to the inevitable emotional breakdown that will come post-listen. After the first listen I’ll smoke a joint or two, and go into the experience again. Seriously cannot wait!

Yep! Although it would be very LDR of her to feature Coca Cola in another song, this lyric feature Coco Cool, AKA this disgusting sht:

The way that *new final* of CTMP has the “this is XCX world” so poorly spliced into the bridge really had me crying

Thinking about how all of her albums leaked. And some in veeery shitty quality (honeymoon and nfr). Hope this is the first time we all get to hear the album together just like she planned

I hope I can place this album in my top 3 but I'd have to say goodbye to Honeymoon, Paradise or Ultraviolence

omg @Lentilus that's such a good idea i think i'll do that too! - also still can't decide if i should listen to it at midnight first or when i wake up in the day when i listened to nfr it was at midnight and it was kinda lame because i was soo tired, maybe ill just wait until i wake up, do my hair all nice, throw on a pretty dress and grab a glass of wine and a joint and make a whole experience of it, i think that'll be better, im so excited

it's very commonly believed that she's saying "don't cry honey" but i honestly think she's saying "don't cry bunny" in gramma it's "bunny" in the live performance, it's honestly hard to know for sure since we don't have any official lyrics for the aka album

maybe i should listen to AKA–NFR straight through in the hours leading up to COTCC release but that seems.... insane it'd take roughly 6 hrs 45 minutes i think so i'd have to start at 5 ish... or maybe i'll just listen to all the lizzy grant songs so i fully feel her reflection on that time
