my ~controversial~ opinion but honestly… both Downhill Lullaby & Don’t Forget do not give me that buzz that i get from songs like 24 Hours, I blame myself, love in stereo, etc.. i wouldn’t call them bad songs, but they’re both lacking melodically for me. Neither song is a good single choice imo, they both sound like deep cuts that i’d have appreciated more if my first exposure was within the full album.

I'm sorry I will never get over this setlist/show.......that is some excellence ! The outfits, the lights, the stage, the lipsyncing, the sped up songs, Sophie being above charli watching over her, that's iconique !

I think that more than for the fans it was the label's attempt to get another "big" era after HM being very lowkey. If it ended up being as intended at the start with the witchy aesthetics and space sounds (that are still on some songs) it would probably be higher on stans rankings cause I think 80% of us really like Cherry, 13 Beaches, Heroin etc. but didn't really care that much about the middle part of the album (even though it has grown on me a lot and I enjoy it as a whole when I put the record on from start to finish) I really like the title track but the demo version was way more original and interesting to me so it's a loss we didn't get a whole album with that sound

I understand that she wants to do a great, fresh and consistent record, but scrapping Guardian and I Pray For Rain would be such a dumb move Don't Forget is really good, I only wish it was more explosive and a little bit faster just like in the first snippets, but I still think it was a solid choice, specially because that showed that Sky is trying her best to keep with her original plans, she hinted DF as the next single even before DL being released

From what I understood LYTAN = RCS which is a separate song from WCE, which also uses the phrases “rock candy, sweet” and “sweet like rock candy”

I'm part of the minority that really loves that track so I wouldn't mind either but I don't want it to take another potential song's place

Personally, I use site linked below; just go to “Make your own chart” to get started! You can filter by genre, popularity, themes, the mood, and more! For example, you could type in “bittersweet” and “alienation” as descriptors and then whatever genre you want (slowcore, pop, ambient, etc). https://rateyourmusic.com/charts/top/album/all-time/

Stans here aren’t loving LFL for sure (many of us at least), but it did very well outside of LB: it’s the second album, after BTD, to have reached 1B streams, it went number 1. Many didn’t mind that it was “incohesive”… Which makes me remember that LB is not the whole Lana fandom and some of our opinions might not be shared by a vast majority of her fans.

The fact that she did a song for Euphoria and it wasn’t something insanely dark and over the top is such a fucking loss Imagine something with production like this

Serene Queen, which was made at the very beginning of the album, is a bit witchy to me, but I don’t know if it was considered to be on the tracklist (can’t believe she never found a home for that one, plus it was really finished and not just a demo; Hope we get to hear an HQ version of it on album where it fits).

Tbh I don't want WCE on LDR9 I'd rather have new songs. We also don't know when the album is coming & if it comes out next year it would be weird to have a song on it that got released 1+ year ago but you never know with her because she wanted to put I Can Fly on Blue Banisters But you all made me relisten to WCE & it's good. If it ends up on LDR9 I wouldn't be too mad though , just wish WCE had a bridge or more of a vocally contrast between pre chorus & chorus but it's still a good cute song & I love the artsy lyrics I wouldn't mind to see the RCS line on LDR9 & this actually made me wonder again how this album will play out since there is no mention of colours. Wondering if we get other kind of descriptions like " you are sweet like rock candy, the rain was fire but we were wooden or sth like the deep icy sea and so on "

Here is my strategy for discovering music: listening to "song radios" on Spotify (which are songs by similar artists to your favorite songs) or song recommendations on Youtube normal radio listening (as simple as it is), I also found an Internet radio that only plays music requests from users, which is very interesting I have an account on RadioTunes which has many channels for different music tastes watching for new releases at https://www.albumoftheyear.org/ , Must Hear Albums and albums that have a good user score (there's also rateyourmusic.com ) and finally, watching for threads of other artists on Lanaboards 👀

I love the new song. Maybe it's not "old" to me because I didn't listen to the leak I don't understand the expectation of "its been 10 years and this doesn't sound like it took that long to make". Thats just projecting onto someone else unfairly.

I'm really curious about how WCE happened cause it sounds pretty different from the last albums but I don't think she wrote it from scratch for Euphoria. Maybe she had a couple of more "commercial" demos from the Drew BB sessions lying around and she submitted those and WCE was the chosen one cause I don't see her giving away potential LDR9 tracks for a soundtrack (unless she plans on putting them on the record regardless of their fate )

I wouldn't mind WCE on album if it fits sonically. I really like this song and I would be lowkey happy if track find home on LDR9

I hope waist deep in icy waves ends up being a song lyric cause I'm obsessed with it It could just be a caption related to the magazine photos but I wouldn’t call NY's water icy

I actually really love Downhill Lullaby and Don't Forget but yeah they don't scream single material compared to Pray For Rain and Guardian

Can’t remember if it was BoZ or Eclipse, but I think it was BoZ, on ATRL, who said that Rock Candy Sweet was just a single line on LYTAN (like you said, shadesofyosemite). RCS is the new “candle in the wind”, apparently, but I wonder if the line is featured in another song apart from LYTAN and WCE, possibly a scrapped track on BB? I mean, she was going to name the album after that line, so to hear it only once on the album (and not be a title track) would have been a first for sure for her.

Dramatic New Country Daddy Never Came (home) it'd be a nod to Daddy's Home also, Delta Nu Country (kinda like bluesy country? idk) Doing Nothing Cool Dancing Near Coasts Delta Night Calls any insiders wanna tell us, if you know what DNC is? please? it's really bugging me at this point

Eclipse made that assumption on ATRL. He said BTD - UV - HM form a trilogy; LFL was made for the fans so it doesn’t count in a trilogy; NFR-COCC -BB form another (the singer-songwriter trilogy). Before WCE was out, he said she had made new songs that could open up to a “new trilogy”… I read into that that it was something different from the last albums, whether or not if there really is something planned that much ahead (but I don’t think so). The real question is: How much did he hear actually? Honeymounz, on IG, said there were three other songs submitted for Euphoria but only WCE got picked up. So, I think he heard those songs and maybe DNC if it was finished back then?

I only listen to like, 5-6 artists most of the time. How to break the cycle? I want to start listening to more artists, but I don't know how to do it. Even when I really enjoy a song from a random dude, I drop it after a few days or worse, hours (the same for albums). Then after that, I go back to the same 10ish songs I listen to everyday. I hate this. How can I expand my music taste and actually accept it?

if the album was called Cleaning Up The Culture that'd be so iconic, where the cover would be her in a 60s style, hair in rollers, holding a plate of food, vacuum in the other hand, wearing an apron and she's on a facetime call with Rob

The last three songs are some of her best. Change is almost prophetic of the pandemic and the pandemic fatigue (“it’s bitter, I’m coughing and now it’s in my blood” / “who am I to sympathize when no one gave a damn” / “there’s a change gonna come, I don’t know where or when” ). Norman also felt prophetic, at moments. Now I’m really curious about t he topics of this album, her post-pandemic state of mind. (By the way, i really love talking to you and reading your POV on different topics )

I really love it too. Some songs are weaker or I don’t connect as much with them, but they all are very enjoyable to listen to. I get why it was considered a bit “all over the place” by some (HM being her most cohesive album, just released before her least cohesive sure didn’t help), but my life was a bit messy as well, so I connected with the vast majority of the songs on it. I really hope LDR9 is going into a bigger sound and production, with a couple of good singles. She needs to have a “hit”.

Okay but that is such a fucking concept…… I wanna see it alongside her ‘bombastic’ songs with Jack and some more of her TLSP songs…. Boom, album.

Guardian, I Pray for Rain and Descending should all be singles imo. I wanna believe in the end Guardian and IPFR will be included, I refuse to believe they were scrapped.

Honestly I never listened to WCE again after the Euphoria hype. It's an amazing beautiful song like Beautiful or YNWA, but not a song I want to hear over and over again especially on an album, only in a certain mood. This is also true for other songs on Blue Banisters, which prevents me from listening to the album all the way through now. I hope LDR9 becomes an album more like BTD, Paradise or UV, which even years later have not aged so much.

Tbh actively searching for new music never works for me. I usually just come across songs I really like by coincidence. For example after watching Lost In Translation I listened to the soundtrack which includes Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chain and so that's how I started listening to their albums. Maybe watching a movie to discover new music is a little weird but I can definitely say that movies I really like usually also have soundtracks I like. Something else you can try is searching for playlists of a certain genre. There's channels on youtube dedicated to genres, e.g. if you like shoegaze and dream pop, David Dean Burkhart is the perfect channel for you. That channel made me discover Men I Trust.

i like many different styles of music i’d say i like alternative, i feel like “alternative” can mean a lot of different things, but the only alternative artist i can think of is lana del rey, her music is just so unique & isn’t like anything else i’ve heard elsewhere i like rock, some rock artists i like include grunge musicans (nirvana, alice in chains, & soundgarden) & there’s quite a few rock songs i like (sweet child o’ mine, stairway to heaven), also 60’s rock (the doors) surf noir i really love songs which are psychedelic, atmospheric, melancholic, slow & moody (mazzy star, certain songs by the doors, certain songs by lana) acoustic, folky stuff is very enjoyable i also quite like songs which are long (6+ minutes) i like pop music if it’s quality & creative, pop music from the 2000s is a good example of this i like quality songwriting & poetic lyrics i really need to discover more artists though i feel like i’m only truly familiar with a few

I assume the concept is that the K-12 empath? group will be revealed to be or will be transformed into faeries; she posted a bunch of pics with wing effects, she had wings in one part of the K-12 Tour, several of the leaked and probably scrapped songs refer to faeries specifically, and so on. I think with songs like 'Sirens' and 'Dragons Blood' she wanted to explore the lore of that with the faeries' predecessors being witches, sirens, etc. but idk

Thx! It's really annoying to be like this cause I end up missing so much cool stuff Lana, Taylor Swift's last 2 albums and a few random songs from her pop era, Phoebe Bridgers, Radiohead, Lady Gaga (mainly BTW and ARTPOP), Alexandra Savior and Arctic Monkeys/TLSP (: Sometimes I do this too, it's a really great way to discover new music These are very helpful tips for discovering new music (some of these new to me, can't wait to check them out). The main problem tho is sticking to them, cause I always end up going back to the same tracks I don't have an IPod, but I think blocking (sorry Lana) my main artists for some time might help. I don't know if I can do it. I don't feel like I can breath without ME! or Boom Like That Thank you all so much! I'm gonna try to put these tips in practice and tell you how it went.

Hey, I just edited the title for a bit more clarity, but this is a great topic. I literally don't know how to force myself to listen to other artists - thankfully it just happens with some music in similar styles I love, but it's like, I don't really know how to give things a proper chance since when I'm listening I'm like "when can I go back to the stuff I know I like".
