What y’all think? My concept for the album (RCS is a much more iconic name than BB)

We have to be careful about what we want with her. Interscope and her management give her much power and liberty and it is mostly to our benefit. Ben and Ed don’t force her to promote in ways she doesn’t want and it would be very much unfair if they did: Lana was after all their first big client, plus she is recording non stop (they don’t have to deal with someone not showing up to the studio or her tour). And if we got amazing masterpieces from her like UV, HM, NFR, it’s because her record company let her run the show ( I know she had to fight for UV, and we don’t know what happened behind closed doors, but she seems to have pretty much all the control over her albums now). Do I wish she was more present for promo? Hell yeah. Do I wish she stopped giving unchecked dates all the time. Of fucking course. But I think, overall, we are winning with the way she runs things.

Her label has become soft, they need to force her to ditch jack and gag her legally from announcing release dates. I think all artists need a strong label and management to stop them going off the rails, I think because of Lana’s personality some control is good for her. Ben’s let her do as she pleases which is poor management, he needs to start cracking the whip like he did with the NFR cover.

omg wait guys remember when lana randomly posted that fan made edit with the “i wish I was dead already” quote? anyone remember when that was? I feel like it was after annie mac but I think that was around the time she started putting this album together... it kinda ties to the theme of her wanting to tell her story

Mike mentioned Jeff Bhasker being his link of familiarity to Lana. Jeff worked on Diet Mountain Dew, National Anthem, Carmen, and Wait for Life (so he’s probably a frequent collaborator with Emile Haynie). That, paired with him staying true to her “classical” sound, makes me think this will be as bombastic as BTD. Based on BoZ’s comments, the title track could be the Video Games of the album.... This album coming out by/before January 2022 would be PERFECT as the BTD era started around this time 10 years ago. I really think we’ll see an updated version of Lana’s take on a classical cinematic sound accompanied by heavy, old-skool hip-hop beats.

Yes! That was on January 10th when she posted the album cover + tracklist. I was actually quite surprised when she posted that edit with the audio of her saying that because I wouldn’t think she would want to revisit that whole incident, but I feel like that totally ties in with her telling her own story in response to being taken out of context and vilified in the media. I think you’re onto something...

Polydor even retweeted the announcement, but deleted the tweet after some hours. They probably got contacted by Ben who explained that Lana likes to announce random dates that are not realistic.
