26 likesUntil Jack worked with Lana, he was known for making mostly 80s-esque power pop. Then once Lana released NFR, everyone else he worked with wanted him to do that sound for them too. It’s not Lana’s fault she’s a trendsetter. It also makes sense why she’d logically move on from Jack at this point too.

26 likesi can't get over how good chemtrails (the song) is, like it starts off boring but i love how it explodes, i love the words she says "its never too late, baby so dont give up" and how everything sounds so chaotic and tense, like an impending doom, i always think of the movie "melancholia" when it's about to hit earth, it's so fatal yet beautiful because you're still hanging on, and her low vocals at the end "my cancer is sun and my leo is moon" are SCARY, it feels me with dread and anxiety and i fucking feel it, idk what to feel... hopeful? sad? panicky? its just a really good song, i hope blue banisters will explore more of these themes and ideas

21 likesI think her primary mode of magic is the emotions in her voice. that's her gold. there're musicians who have great power, tech specs etc. but Lana's a genius w a lot of heart intelligence and that's what brings the songs to life. what's most beautiful about it is how it doesn't sound forced, at all. even the cursive girls can't fake that. similar to how Rihanna might not be the best singer, but the style is always only theirs. water signs represennnnnnnnnt. i've been loving the lyrics a lot more, it's so mentally stimulating so i don't mind it a bit. i'd love for some repetitive lyrics to slip into for like a sexier effect but there are always other ways of getting lost in the lyrics. so far like i mentioned earlier in the thread, the music reminds me of beatrix kiddo from kill bill, the bride vibes, and the production's been pretty great so far imo. even the offbeat drums/percussion w WFWF is a great way of using the off-note percussion as a sensual device. and it's actually a lot more indicative of ability for artists to veer into that mode and do it well, instead of sticking to the usual musical formula. the music's been pretty blunt so far, so there's really no escaping it, and in that, is how it's direct. it's a lot earthier than her prev stuff and i'm all for it. it does take a specific kind of focus/ mental state to tap into so i get how it might not be for everyone. i am still pretty excited of where this road'll lead.

20 likesI haven't listened to the three new tracks since the week they came out but I've been listening to them all again the past couple days and (while I still love all three) Blue Banisters is still the true standout of the three for me. I love how soft it is, yet it's still so powerful. Her vocals on it are so incredible. The emotion in them alone. I love the lyrics despite not relating to them at all. The power and emotion in her voice alone sells the song for me. I don't even need to relate to it cause you can just feel how much it means to her. The "I said I'm scared of the Santa Clarita fires / I wish that it would rain" verse ends me EVERY time. The outro is also one of my favorite moments in any Lana song. It's so beautiful and soft. Absolutely incredible set of three songs but Blue Banisters really is next level.

18 likesam i the only one who doesn’t really care about her lyrics anymore? like we got so many great poetic lyrics since nfr. i’d want at least an album where the focus is on otherworldly production and not the lyrics (yeah yeah i know she’s a songwriter poetry yada yada yada i see y’all coming) but like at this point i’d take another repetitive sad girl chorus or her talking about her farts over dreamy electrical wah wah guitars, synths and a string orchestra over another minimalist, poetic piano song ANY FUCKING DAY

16 likesimagine writing (she probably didn’t her team did but let’s pretend) a whole generic pop ALBUM about some fake teeny relationship your dystopian conglomerate aka disney inc. came up with to steal money out of teenage girl’s pockets…. what exactly is groundbreaking about that ? like i don’t wish any bad on that kid and it’s not her fault but it’s not sitting well with me at all how lana got dragged through hell and back for being an industry plant only because she had some lip fillers and a different aesthetic when nowadays every real industry plant from billie, to clairo, halsey to olivia get eaten up by the gp with no questions asked…. and lana doesn’t even get slight praise or “thanks for opening this door for me" (looking at you miss billie "thank you ariana" eilish)

16 likesLike no tea or shade to Olivia and Billie stans but like...Lana gave us 27 years of life experience in her songwriting meanwhile these new girlies are singing about high school shit lol. It's just funny how people fawn over them like they have lots to say. This is why I don't stan young talent because they lack so much experience and it shows in their music

16 likesthe fact teenagers consider people like billie or olivia rodriguez as alt nowadays… were we like this too ? no we weren’t we were a lot cooler all i know is today’s kids could NEVA compete with our random black and white cigarette tumblr pics with a brooklyn baby caption slapped on them….you truly had to be there

15 likesI still think there’s a chance the record will come out on July 4th. Given the hushed nature of this release cycle, I think it would be fitting to just release the record with no formal lead-up other than the 3 singles we already got. Unpopular opinion, but I quite like the “purist” approach to releasing music where you just put things out and say nothing else. I think it’s a way of letting the music speak for itself and that’s certainly fitting for the thematic content of the songs we’ve heard from the album. Don’t get me wrong, I love photoshoots and interviews and other goodies, but I am okay with her not doing anything because the music lives on without it!

At this point Jack is akin to an ice cream truck vendor who claims he sells different flavours when in fact he only sells vanilla and just puts different coloured sprinkles on it for each customer -

13 likesi don't really get how billie eilish is considered alternative, her music is basically very stripped-down pop and it's very mainstream-friendly, she's extremely popular because her music is fit for a large audience, lana's music & lyricism doesn't fit the mainstream and songs like "ultraviolence" could never fit that audience

12 likesSame sis, I can't get over the feeling when I discovered Shades Of Cool and was listening it on my vacation in Greece. I barely listened to the lyrics but the melody was . The sky was blue without a single cloud, the sea was dark blue and lighter and lighter until it was mint by the shore with a pleasant wind blowing. I was wearing boho clothes because that's my usual aesthetic in the summer which matched the psychedelic elements. People aren't aware how a good melody is important. It creates a whole new atmosphere and memories of the listener. Me when listening to COCC: k cute song Me listening to those three songs: cute song, good lyrics, might recommend my friend to put her baby to sleep.

11 likesmaybe it's really coming july 4th why would they update her website only now yep that's definitely the album cover oh my now seeing the 3 covers next to each other I notice how her chest progressively shows these cut wounds like in blue banisters her chest is 99,98% healed, only a few greenish bruises left

11 likesAt the end of the day, if none of these artists liked Jack's production style, they wouldn't work with him. And his style obviously isn't for everyone, but the general public really likes it (as we've seen with the response to NFR, Folklore, etc). I'm someone who actually does enjoy Jack's production, the man produced Venice Bitch so I can never say his production is objectively bad, but I also think it can be good for an artist to switch it up. That's part of why I'm still looking forward to BB despite the messiness of the release dates. I don't think that the three singles were a clear representation of what the album is/will sound like, and even if they are, I still listen to the singles regularly so I wouldn't mind. Side note - there seriously just needs to be a Jack exclusive thread considering how almost every other thread turns into discussion about him

11 likesTHIS! like the new songs are great and i like them a lot but if i had to introduce lana to a friend i wouldn’t use any of them…. when i fell in love with lana i didn’t care one bit about the lyrics because the melodies and production spoke for themselves. so after all the great lyrics we’ve gotten over the past 3 years i think it’s time for something GRAND and EPIC again
