16 likesHere's the deal... I think everyone should focus on the stories she's telling in these songs. I know a lot of you aren't fond of the direction she's going with this record but it's just surreal that she's sharing her story with us this way - and evidently a lot of people resonate with the narratives too. Whether it's healing from a man who promised her a life, looking for someone to fill the void of her father, or her promising to never turn into a natural disaster, these are just huge topics (and some of many discussed in those songs) within themselves that aren't really discussed in most music today except maybe Blue Banisters but the way she portrayed the story in that song was so beautiful. I personally relate with the singles and they released at a time I needed stories like the ones she told to help me through the shit blunder I was going through - and seeing your favorite artist do something like that is just so cool and I'll forever thank her for that. I just have a feeling that this album could blow NFR! (which I regard as The greatest album of all time) out of the water if she continues with this direction and don't worry - if it's something that Lana proves time and time again she always comes through we WILL get that synth masterpiece on LDR8 ladies and enbies! Though for now I just hope this album releases I highkey want it to blow Chemtrails away as the superior record this year even though I adore that record. I also wanna add that releasing a lowkey album like Chemtrails is a smart decision from her because after a career high (NFR!) - if you just keep going higher the fall won't be as great. Thanks for reading.

14 likesI haven’t coasted this thread in a long time. I have to say - it makes the wait more bearable, it’s like you’re not watching paint dry everyday! I think that’s why NFR! felt like a, dare I say, great pre-release period for me. Highly recommend just going about your life without thinking about this too much to anyone who’s experiencing frustrations! <3

14 likesIt’s possible she’s constantly debating quitting because she can’t handle fame but never does because she is so passionate about her work. Even between AKA and BTD when her career seemed to be going nowhere, she was constantly making music. And now she has the opportunity to release her music for the world and to support herself that way and she shouldn’t have to give up her privacy and safety and peace of mind just to create songs and make a living off of that. Yeah, I know, it’s a trade off, but it doesn’t mean it’s fair or that she just accepts it with a smile. Plus even if she did quit, the cat’s already out of the bag, everyone knows who she is. She wouldn’t even be able to have a personal social media page or live her life in peace. Fans would still stalk her and harass her. They wouldn’t just forget she existed. So if she can’t ever have true freedom or safety again, why should she give up her passion? Would it not make more sense to just put out music on her own terms and still get to write and sing and support herself that way? Because the life she’s living at the moment, kinda low key, hanging out with her friends, is likely the exact same life she’d be living if she quit music, including having fans running into her all the time. She’d never escape that unless she lived in disguises all the time and nothing’s stopping her from already doing that if she wanted to. Like Joni Mitchell “quit” after pretty much every album but she’d end up writing so much and wouldn’t even get the privacy she longed for, so she’d always come back. Sometimes quitting just isn’t worth it even if you hate fame and your fans.

10 likesI will die defending Lucky Ones as one of her most beautiful songs & one of the best on BTD... never understood the hate for it. I hate that it's an unpopular opinion to love that song the way I do.

10 likesI love Guns and Roses! I really love the slow drums, the guitar riffs, her vocals (especially during the chorus), the bridge, and the lyrics so much. such a vibey song, especially within the context of UV

10 likesI definitely would not compare the two lmfaoooo, dua has broken so many records it’s insane, ellie on the other hand… well she was cute for a minute.. in the words of miss diamandis, the pop industry knew they could do Better Than That

10 likesYou & Me is one of her best unreleased songs and I stand by that should've been reworked into an interlude for honeymoon "Its just you and the sun now baby" Mariners Apartment Complex and Venice Bitch were her best singles behind west coast MAC her best song lyrically and def top 5 overall. the way VB and MAC reference each other so much AND how the NFR! cover recreates MACs lyrics literally Guns and Roses one of the best off Ultraviolence and truly her most underrated song the desert rock motorcycle biker groupie in Nevada listening to soft rock while riding with her daddy vibes are immaculate and the BRIDGE has incredibly imagery. best song to dramatically sway in your room to while high AND the way the fanbase would shit itself if she released this song in 2021

10 likesPandora's Box suggests that Jack cheated, I don't see how people are interpreting it as being about Lana lmaooo... "You damaged what we had But for her, it's just another day" "Yeah, I thought it would get better I kept my hope alive but I don't wanna be the bearer of pain just so we can survive..." It sounds like they were together some time after but Marina couldn't stay in the relationship after. (This is my interpretation...)

10 likesYes, especially because it's just so full and rich, cinematically sweeping and manages to straddle both being an homage to old school jazz, and an up to date sound that manages to come across as timeless. Yes it's a bit clunky insofar as some of the songs aren't really right for the album (Shades Of Cool would have worked beautifully on it, 13 Beaches Should Have Been On It, Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood is a weird and sort of dull cover, Swan Song should have been the closer) but it's a stunningly beautiful album that totally surprised me when it came out and made me realise just what a capacity for genre-adopting/twisting Lana had as a songwriter, as well as singing even more ethereally than I already knew. It's one of my favourites and I love to languish about listening to it in summer especially.

9 likesWe know Dealer is on the album (BOZ listened to it and called the vocals jarring to hear lol), so the album will be versatile enough to fit a screamer song imo.

9 likesI honestly have no idea where the three singles will be on the tracklist mainly because I have no fucking clue how this album is going to sound like. RCS gave me summer vibes mixed with a pinch of UV for the « revenge ». Then there was the BB snippet that sounded spacey and soft. Then Mike Dean was rumoured and confirmed on the album. Then the three singles came out, with « a bit small » Mike Dean production nobody expected, and heavy writing. So what will the rest of the album will sound like?!?! It’s exciting in a way but mostly a bit boring since we know nothing and she decided to stay out of the spotlight (which I can understand in a way, but where the fuck is she in the process of it all?).

9 likesI don't think that she needs to stop releasing music to slow down her fame. She just needs to disappear, working on her albums in secret and release them without any buzz (trust me, she's not doing this right now. She attracted every single piece of attention when she announced RCS as her revenge album one day after COCC. She did the same with the picsart covers) Lana loves her career, but she seems kinda confused with what she really wants or how to achieve it. I'm not gonna be surprised if she starts to suffer from a serious burnout (I think that this already started, by judging her interviews in the COCC era)

9 likesIf she doesn't want to be famous then she has the money and means to move far away from LA and live a quiet life free of paparazzi and stans. I'm sure fame isn't what she thought it would be, but I don't think it's true that she doesn't want to be famous - or moreover, she obviously still wants to release songs and she knows fame comes with that. If she doesn't want to be famous, why release anything at all? Especially containing provocative lyrics about her hospitalisation and her mother's abuse? I think she wants to have an older, more mature fanbase, though.
