You guys are so annoying. First you hype the snippet up like it's the second coming of West Coast, and now you trash it cause it's not 100% what you thought it should be. This is a cute, well crafted little song. The passion in her vocals and the instrumental have the vibe of a distorted Wait For Life. We are lucky to get that much "fire" from her again after stuff like CoCC. She's just releasing it for a soundtrack anyway, so it's a nice to have and there is literally NO reason to moan about it

How about just enjoying or not enjoying the song without telling other people what to do, say and feel

Dean Reid posted this about the song! He mentioned using the “famous Capitol Records reverb chamber” so perhaps that’s another reason why Lana was pictured outside the Capitol Records building back in September in her tweet about the covers album x

I love it! It’s such a saccharine, but innocently dark song. It’s perfect for the show, and I’m excited to see which characters’ plot-line it accompanies on Sunday! Her vocals are stellar, and I love the production, the little notes of melodic dissonance throughout really add so much to it — it sounds out-of-tune in a very intentional way, almost to convey the brokenness of a few relationships in the show that the characters still engage in. I’m excited to see how this might translate into a new sound for the next album!

Obviously everyone can feel however they want about the song, but I personally think there's more to it than some of you are saying. It's simple and repetitive but that's part of its charm and there's something subtly magical about it. It really is addictive and the atmosphere gives this warm and special feeling, mixed with the sadness and disappointment in the lyrics. It reflects the mindset of a young love that's fading really well. Also it doesn't really feel that sparse to me? There are so many little things going on and it all comes together beautifully.

As always everyone is entitled to our own opinion but I really don't understand the mass hate/disappointment lol. Okay, okay.. the lack of a bridge could be upsetting when told about it but that is why we don't always listen to insiders lol. I think it was pretty obvious where this song was going based off of the snippets, but that's me. I will say I do believe there prob is an alternate version. Maybe it is a version that was intended for an album or still could be intended for an album, we don't know. I can see them shortening it for the show and also for better/more easily accessible listening/replay value. Anyways for me this song is so dreamy and atmospheric. It's a flood of emotions and imagery! The melody and lyrics are just so beautiful! I personally think it is a great song and will be streaming the fuck out of it lol. I def think she accomplished what she needed with this song for the show. May be unpopular opinion but I also think that the length is perfect. I don't even notice how short it is lol. It honestly feels longer than 3:30 but it is 3:30 so that makes it perfect to listen to again.. again....again.....and again. I love stanning such a prolific and talented artist, we are truly a lucky fandom. Nobody has done and continues to do it like Lana but again that's just my opinion lol!

guys it's literally a song to fit a specific story line of a specific tv show let's just move tf on

Wait I actually do LOVE that “insiders” told us that there’d be a powerful bridge with all these instruments and it’s not that we got a weaker bridge, we just didn’t get one 😂😂😂😂 but regardless, I actually LOVE the song. It’s perfect for a TV show song and really cute and kinda sad but not in a painful way. Almost in a nostalgic warm way. I think it’s wonderful.

This has been the most exciting single drop for me since NFR era. I don't think it's as good as some of the highlights on COCC and BB, but it's been a While since I've been listening to a Lana single on repeat and absolutely loving it. This song made me realize even more how the BB singles were a big disappointment for me lol, the feeling I got with this song just wasn't there for the BB singles. Or even the COCC singles. (only ended up having my COCC title track obsession when I was listening to it in the context of the album lol)

I really like the song. Just woke up & it was playing in my head My only complains are that the song is too short & I would have loved to hear more of the guitar. I can see why some could like it not that much , maybe a bridge & a longer guitar intro would have helped the song idk But overall the song is such a mood & I'm kinda addicted to it

I always feel bad when I see people aren’t liking the direction she’s going in. I respect all opinions and it sucks to be disappointed in your favorite artist’s releases, and I’ve tried to figure out why mid/post-NFR tracks sound so different from her older material. What I’ve decided is that, especially with the adoption of her spoken poetry, she said she likes almost freestyling and making very few edits to things—just letting them be what they are. I think she lived by this dogma in the beginning with AKA, where everything felt and sounded like it had spontaneous air in the mix. Once she was signed by a big label, naturally they try to boil it down to a concentrate—cut out any stray frequencies, smooth and condense her voice, have crisp instrumentals keen for radio and movie play, etc. I had liked Lana’s music in the past, but I really became a stan with the release of Mariner’s and Venice Bitch, because, while I hadn’t heard much from UV or anything at the time, I felt I could hear her true artistry come through in those tracks, with their lo-fi, vocal-center approach. It captured the electricity of a live performance, of an artist creating and breathing in real-time that sounded so different from the slick, airtight productions on the radio or sleek, older material of hers that I was familiar with. I think she’s leaned even further into that after her work with Jack. We’ve heard her collaborators say that she’s done vocals in one take, or how she literally wrote and recorded White Dress on the spot while Jack played some chords. I think, above all lately, she values organicness—the feeling of catching lightning and bottling up that emotion right away, to present it as it was at that moment in time, and not revisit it. While I agree it has led to some more human “errors” (slightly wrong notes, lags in timing, fuzzy gear playback), I feel this is all so hyper-intentional in her art now, almost like a protest of the modern music industry. It’s almost like her trajectory has been a circle to get back to that spontaneity she felt with AKA. I really appreciate that art and feel it is true to her acoustic, songwriting soul, but at the same time I see how far that is from the BTD—and even Honeymoon—sound, for example. I definitely feel empathy for the people who don’t love it as much and just wanted to type out my thoughts in case it resonated with anyone. Artists’ journeys have always been so interesting to me, and Lana’s is certainly one of the most uniquely interesting ones we’ve had to witness, as one of the first true viral stars to reigning indie/alt queen of the music counterculture.

I never expected it to be anything more than a cute simple repetitive song with classic ldr unreleased vibes and that’s what I got. Very happy with it <3 reminds me of the good old days before norman got her annoying new fans that can’t appreciate this side of her

what's funny is that lustforlife's "cherry acoustic" description was the most accurate description

lana fans hate everything then get mad if every other single fan doesn't have the exact same opinion as them. some of us can just enjoy things and be happy. it doesn't mean we're uncritical idiots who can't be trusted to have opinions. if you don't vibe with one of her releases, you can share that without acting like you're better than people who do enjoy it. this happens with every song, every album, every video, everything. i get it, some of you are never happy and maybe you take it personally when people don't have the same criticisms as you. i hate how everything is becoming like this like everyone has to have the exact same opinions on every single thing in existence or they're branded as idiots or villains. like get over yourselves and go fly a kite.

I don’t know why people are getting so mad that some people are genuinely enjoying this song. I don’t particularly think it’s better than the majority of the songs she has released in the last couple of years, but let people enjoy things.

Some fans like: why can't this soft soundtrack, meant for a sad movie scene, sound like a rocking, richly produced dance hit with electric guitar and drums?

Last time I felt this catchiness from her melodies was when she released Chemtrails the title track, I think pre-chorus in WCE is almost as great as COCC’s chorus, the song itself isn’t just as polished but I don’t mind it, it reminds me of her Ultraviolence ~messiness~… this is Lana in her best form once again.

This is literally one of my favorite songs she’s released in years and I’ve been quite critical of her music for many years. What’s wrong with liking, even loving this song? I think it’s great. Just because it doesn’t fit your imagery of what Lana should be like doesn’t mean you have to be bitter about it.

Did I yesterday say that the song is just cute and ok? Yes. Have I been listening to it on repeat since it came out? Yes. It grew on me a lot and I think it's actually a pretty solid song
