if ldr9 sounded like very early lust for life (lust for life demo 1, valley of the dolls, if i die young, serene queen, beautiful people, yosemite) i think it would be exquisite

I'm not even a massive fan of hers, but the 9 year long rollout and the teaser from a few weeks ago have got me in a choke hold. The first thing I do every couple hours is check if she's announced it lmao. So her label succeeded with posting that teaser and running away again haha. I didn't want to listen to the leaks at first since I was expecting it to drop like last week, but now I am slowly getting impatient lmao. I will say tho: I am still pretty sure the album is coming this year. She sounded quite confident in her Pitchfork story from 2019 that it was taking shape and I have a feeling the additional delay was due to the pandemic. With the way she makes music, it was definitely very hard to assemble songs in a worldwide lockdown so I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt in that regard. All those festival bookings and her mixing stuff at the Capitol studios must mean something so I think we will see the record - whatever it ends up being called - this year.

I hope we get really interesting song titles for LDR9 similar to the ones on Violet. Those titles are AMAZING and while the ones on her latest albums are not bad they are not as eye catching in my opinion The Land of 1000 Fires, Salamander, Sportcruiser, Tessa DiPietro... it was serve after serve I appreciate the more mundane themes and how she incorporated the different metaphors but I want more abstraction for the next one

The polaroid looks very much like a wardrobe test from a film shoot. Then in the silver fox's stories looks like he was pulling shoes (for Lana). This is actually happening.

We don't need another LFL because we don't need another of any of Lana's albums However, if she wanted to tap back into that witchy, retro-futurism vibe that she explored a bit with early LFL but never fully went into, I'd be here for that

Not people still hating on Lfl. Boring. Me and a few smart sexy people on here are already stanning LfL again ( as everyone did when it leaked….only a month later did the narrative that LfL was bad start to spread and bc people on here are sheep it’s repeated ad nauseum now.) we’re already ahead of the curve. Just watch and wait. Lfl will join HM in a few years as a magnus opus and I will have been ahead of the trend. Also @PatentLeatherDoOver i know I’ve owed my essay on lfl for like 3 years at this point, and it’s true I haven’t started it at all, but I will eventually write it I promise. now, why am I talking about this in this forum? Because ldr9 will almost certainly be a transitional album like lfl was. Lana does trilogies ( BTD, UV,HM) (NFR CC BB). Lust for life was a necessary filler/ cornerstone to make NFR fit with the earlier works. This is all a long saga Lana is singing and every bit is important and necessary for the entire discography even if some shine brighter than others ( sirens, HM)

I love Lana's videos she posts on her Instagram like that, I feel like we haven't gotten something like that in a while Also love the love she's giving to Violet, I honestly consider it to be one of my favorite projects she's ever done

My personal (sometimes unrealistic) wishes for LDR9: -an intense, thoughtful album cover: I think that UV’s is a great example, especially with the commentary of how they wanted to achieve an end-of-a-horror-film vibe. I also loved NFR’s and how it referenced songs on the record/included textural details common in Rockwell’s art. -distinct-sounding but cohesive tracks: It’s pretty self-explanatory, but (while of course this is subjective) I think NFR did an amazing job of maintaining its own sonic bubble while still having variety between songs (MAC, VB, CG, hope, etc.) -a Doin’-Time-esque video: Really iconic, fun, and visually/conceptually creative. I consider it one of her best music videos to date, and it fit perfectly with the record’s overall vibe. -no leaks/majorly long snippets: I know it’s inevitable. I really do. I just love surprises, and I love hearing songs for the first time in the context of a record. I think NFR’s was almost a worst-case-scenario in this aspect (HIAB and Cinnamon Girl flashbacks), but yeah lol

LFL is a misunderstood journey through different sounds and feelings. A true transition album from Lana's older sounds to her newer gentler approach. I think some insider suggested that the new album is a transition album so maybe it's like LFL but reversed. Starting gentle and moving towards something more bombastic by the end. A rediscovery of the fire inside

I agree, I really hope for an album like LFL which was really good overall. It was refreshing after the darkness of Honeymoon, the pale colors, a beach album lighter than the others and more pop. She was in a more commercial direction while keeping her universe and her magnificent singing with all that we know of her. It smelled so much like summer, the beach with a little sorcerer side. But I think unfortunately that we will have another version of Chemtrails diluted (family work, ethereal voice, the piano, Jack, quiet life). Not that I don't like that she works as a family (I find it beautiful how she created a kind of family business where everyone has their place and can work without pressure), I know that she needs it to keep her down on Earth but I hope that one day she will break away from this family atmosphere to isolate herself to make a fiercer album with more audacity. Lana has a remarkable voice, I would love for her to try a black trip-hop album à la Portishead, shoegaze, while integrating heavy guitars like Ultraviolence, all filmed with a baroque decor and an old VHS camcorder. Well I'm dreaming, we'll see what she comes up with, she seems to really love life since she got closer to her family... Well let's forget about Patty who doesn't seem to be included or interested.

i feel like the reason lana doesn’t speak that much on next record yet is because this time it’s going to be like really good (and i love blue banisters but i mean good like commercially, like in terms of polished sound, good mixing, not one-take vocals), and she knows we usually get pissed when she delays stuff and she is probably aware that blue banisters was more a compilation album than a fully realised cohesive body of work, so now she wants to be sure everything is finished

The lust for life hate is so old it’s been 5 years now we get it maybe the people who don’t appreciate it just don’t get it kidding kidding I really have no expectations for LDR9 yet other than ‘better than blue banisters’ and until she posts some snippets that’s where I’m gonna stay. WCE’s lyrics really felt more like the Lana I love so I’m hoping she goes more that direction
