Why does her commerical success still matter to you guys? she clearly has a fan base aswell as longevity and regardless of whether she does well or not-she’s cemented her career by now-she’s not in the same Lane as the 2000s girls, she’s more in the same Lane as Beyoncé albeit less successful, she’s can release anything she wants and it will atleast be mildly covered and praised. As long as she makes good music, I really do not care and clearly she does not either.

I'm honestly curious about the relationship between the artist and the producer. Like, imagine a situation to which Jack would respond "Yeah that's a cool idea" while Mike would be like "Nah Elizabeth this is shitty we'll have to rework this"

i'd rather lana have less youtube views/streams instead of chasing mainstream success, she doesn't need any validation from the general public

I love Jack’s production so much but I’m also all about experimentation (if that’s what an artist wants to do) and artistic growth (which Lana has always done, despite making the most beautiful and coherent music from the start). If Lana never met Dan Auerbach at that nightclub last minute in January 2014, we never would have gotten a lot of people’s favourite album from her - Ultraviolence - the way it was. While I think Lana and Jack have great chemistry (an unpopular opinion on this site, I know lol) I am happy that she’s branching out and working with Mike Dean and switching things up - she’s so versatile and always stays true to herself so I don’t think anybody EVER needs to worry about her becoming a “sell-out.” And while I’m not really a fan of Dua Lipa or Doja Cat’s music, they are successful women who are clearly good at what they do so let’s not discredit them - or any artist - by making unfair insinuations about their genre or sound <3

I hope Mike and Zach are more like Dan Auerbach in the way that they will not say yes to everything, that's why UV is so good

BOZ got the masters in July/August and said he didn’t see any reason the album should be delayed, but no (reliable) insiders ever hinted at the era starting Dan talked about working with Lana and said they got into very heated arguments but it shows, because the album is next level. I hope there is some discourse with her and Mike. based on what I’ve seen of Mike via Instagram videos and interviews he seems like he’s rather hard headed and has a very clear vision for his work, and getting two personalities like that always brings out the best of each other so I’m super stoked for whatever they make together!

This will sound mean but I think any producer is going to be better than Jack. Like I've said before, Jack isn't terrible but but he's obviously a 'yes' man. Let's hope Mike Dean has a different approch in the studio with his clients

I think we can all agree that what makes Lana so special is that every album showcases her appreciation for every genre in music and that she’s a true master of whatever she puts her mind to. And I definitely think this album will continue to show that. If all her albums sounded similar, then we wouldn’t be able to appreciate them for what they are as much as we do. That’s what I love about her and we’re totally in for something new and unexpected, which is amazing.

I love NFR and I love COCC, I also think that Jack is a great and talented producer. But I don‘t like how you treat other users here on LB, so have another troll post:

Exactly. It's not like I hate Jack or I think he's a bad producer but I want something new and different. COCC lacked some punch, it's too minimalistic and not in a good way like Honeymoon, it lacks something. I'm really looking forward for her work with Mike, I hope she doesn't scrap the whole thing

I don't think she can serve another White Dress just because that song was super unique/such a standout (like tbh I've never heard of a song in that style/airy/whispery whatever it's even called) and can't see a 2.0 of it. Speaking of 2.0s, I really hope she doesn't attempt a Question for the Culture 2.0 She just expressed herself so poorly in that post, came off very badly and then on top of that, responded by doubling down and telling offended ppl to fuck off instead of trying to see where she went wrong Obviously, as her fans, we know her intentions are always good lol buuuut that doesn't mean the outcome is always good, or that the public is somehow supposed to just know she means well. That whole mess is smthn I wish can just be left behind in 2020 like I love to love her very openly and hope things don't get too weird if she does address this. If she does bring it up tho, I do hope she goes all in, Taylor Swift style lmao because at that point, what's there to lose so might as well get

I hope Mike pushes lana of her limits and do something fun, and bring back sounds like st tropez, gogo girl or something like that, “a naughty girl” if u will say so

COCC was a stripped back folk album. It’s not surprising it didn’t do well streaming wise. It’s a mood album like Honeymoon imo whereas NFR is more accessible and upbeat at times.

No COCC slander please I really loved Chemtrails and I still play that album almost every day but I think the problem was that it started as a NFR afterthought and when she got a great vision for the next record (BB) she didn't want to just scrap all the work so she just finished the album and moved on (and the delays didn't help either). It's clear that she wasn't that excited about it but I still think it's a great record. Maybe at times too chill and lowkey underproduced but the melodies are great (especially the pre choruses) and the songwriting was also good. And it's not like she didn't do anything with the album. We got a nice high budget video, a lot of merch and a couple performances. I think BB is the album she really wanted to make since the qftc post so I'm really excited for what's to come even though I want to keep my expectations on the low side until we get the visuals and general aesthetic.

i think it's depth, i was listening just the other day, and i was paying close attention to the instrumental while lana was singing and it felt so flat, like i was hearing instruments and noises but it wasn't conveying any feeling or emotion, it was just noise in the background, there wasn't really any real atmosphere or character in it's execution, or bass to tie it all together and make it seem alive... i love white dress but i noticed it a lot on this song in particular, even though i still love it

i hope one day someone can stop pretending that Radioactive is a bad song

What we really need for this album is for Lana to work with David LaChapelle again. The shoot she did with him is fucking fantastic, I'd love it if she brought that energy to this era

We're in the "I'm bored, let's talk about every other album while we wait" period of pre-release I'm really looking forward to see how this album differs from her other ones and what genre Lana's going to tackle next (assuming this isn't an entirely folk-inspired album)

I've always wondered about that as well. Especially when some producers challenged her more than others or maybe these are just some of the rumors surrounding the production and not the exact truth

Radioactive is one of her best tracks period and remains unbothered.

Do you guys remember a few months ago Lana followed this one photographer, Nadia Lee Cohen, on Instagram? Her work is very Americana but with a slightly provocative and thought-provoking twist. Maybe she worked with Lana on the BB cover/album photoshoot? It’s rare that Lana follows a photographer who she hasn’t worked with, and I feel like Nadia’s style could fit really well for an album where Lana will be challenging critics and the media. here’s her profile: https://instagram.com/nadialeelee?igshid=k67qfb9ji186

no one wants her to go back to her "old style" idk where y’all get that from. most of us just want more depth and production, the depth her production used to have. she could make a gospel, country, rap album and i wouldn’t fucking care as long as it’s well PRODUCED. every song on chemtrails would’ve been a banger if emile, rick or dan produced them but they all ended up flat, sometimes empty, lacking that depth and heaviness her work usually has. cinnamon girl still has some of those productional elements so that proves it’s not impossible for her to go back to that, just in a more mature and present way, without the daddies and lolitas and THAT’S what we want

I’d absolutely hate another Cocc or NFR , I can’t really call any of the material a memorable or iconic highlight Good songs are there but nothing that matches Blue Jeans, Video games or shades of cool for sure

That’s from an IG story after her V Magazine shoot with Steven Klein on May 3, 2017. They were shooting at Steven Klein’s Hamptons home, and he took that photo of Kevin Federline, hence, it’s mounted on his wall. I really wish people on Twitter would at least try to get the full story before they misrepresent someone :/
