I thought I'd post these tweets since I'm still seeing some confusion about the situation... these are from Aaron Joseph (her close friend who co-writes most of her songs)

The whole "transphobia" "Kim is important for the representation" "There are no other trans artists" thing is just bunch of bs, just say you are rape apologist and go, if you all really cared about trans representation you could hype Laura Les the way you did with this person, Laura's song was going viral on TikTok as well, her song has recently been featured in Euphoria she has the same amount of potential as Kim and she doesn't work multiple predators. Give the same amount of hype to the trans people that actually deserve it if you really care about the Trans representation that much.

people need to learn you can criticize a trans pop star for working with an abuser. just because she’s trans doesn’t make her immune to criticism. people on twitter need to realize people aren’t coming for Kim for being trans, they’re coming for her because she’s willingly working w him and basically invalidating Kesha

It’s so weird to me how every single song she ever put out under her name has Dr Luke in the production credits. Even the SOPHIE collab, like, why was Dr Luke involved in that... She’s fully aware of how everyone hates the fact that she works with him and she has access to a Lot of amazing producers she could work with instead but still ever single song to this day has him as a producer. That & the fact that Dr Luke’s known to take credit where credit isn’t due/has slimy ways with contracts (as confirmed by other artists) is the reason why I always thought there had to be some kind of contract between them (up until the aaron joseph tweets). Like, does she really love working with him That much to the point where she doesn’t have a single song out that doesn’t have him involved… even when she could just avoid all controversy and stop working with him? I’m in absolutely No way defending her cause I really don’t know, but it’s just very weird.

I am shocked THIS is what it took for the people to get talking about Kim and Luke working together, outside of pop forums ofc. Needless to say I wasn't expecting that Rolling Stone article today but I'm glad it happened. Also to add to the discussion of his name credits, didn't era 1 all credit Luke as MADE IN CHINA or am i remembering things wrong? Either way there's definitely no pseudonyms used since 2019(?) and it's sad that it's become normalized for his name to just be there.

this is the FIRST thing that i thought of. the name drop like that just to make a lyric rhyme was so incredibly disrespectful and just bitchy. i didn’t like kim petra’s music after clarity in the first place but this is straight up cunt-y. like what a horrible move. it’s kinda funny how ppl unstanned/“cancelled” lana by twisting her words from QFTC but Kim is literally working with a rapist and called out someone who went through the same thing AND spoke against him in court. if anyone needs to be cancelled it’s kim but all of these white gay twinks look past it BeCaUsE iTs a BoP

How do you cancel someone who never even mattered?
  17. 7 likes
basically to summarize :: - she has worked with several s*xual predators willingly - her music has taken a sharp decline in quality - she has also willingly signed with larry rudolph who was a major pawn in britney's conservatorship - she has indirectly accused kesha of lying even if it was just for the controversy there's only so much you can do before it just makes you look like a terrible person edit: btw this isn't me calling you out i'm just summarizing why she's over

it’s literally all his signature synths throughout he definitely worked on this and i find it hard to believe he had no involvement in the conceptual side too. i mean kim has never done this vibe her sexuality has been confident and playful in the past. i read a review that summed this eps approach perfectly : When you sing about sex without agency and drive it’s just abuse.

nah he is the only producer credited for all 7 songs. that ep is all dr luke

Let's not lock threads just bc the artist is controversial or problematic.
  27. 6 likes
Lock the damn thread. (If other problematic artists can get their threads locked on this website..). There's nothing can be justified about this unless we get some sort of statement but at what cost? All can be said is if you love her music so much still, pirate it.

You guys picking Valentine as n1 unreleased favorite song. I just remembered that I went to Charli's concert in 2014 with a sign "You Could B my Valentine" on it (she touched it) and also I danced to SuperLove on stage with her and a bunch of gays.

i agree with what you say about internet cultures obsession with hating on women in the music industry, but the point everyone’s trying to make is that calling out kim for being a literal RAPE APOLOGIST and a victim blamer, isn’t hate towards her as a woman or a trans woman. there are plenty of trans women musicians you can support that don’t support rapists, just not all of them are mainstream. it’s not only the fact that she worked with dr luke, because plenty of musicians are signed into their contract to HAVE to. she just said that she wanted to do it again. and i do hold people accountable like that in my personal lives.

no but I literally cannot get over the fact I just fucking heard Billions live Ive been so hooked on the song since she first performed it I feel so lucky it was so glorious but she didn't do the full outro that bitch and people saying they met her in the bathroom after the arena was so loud after she left you could tell people were interested im just so proud that she's performing for such huge crowds and tearing it the fuck up

the energy is weird in here today anyways i will forever love marina. i think we fail to understand that shes human, and the girl has been a victim to every "marina's poor/broke/etc" joke for how long and still goes through that shit. of course, she's defensive. i don't blame her. i would get so fed up and frustrated w that shit if i were in her position. it's annoying and completely uncalled for. ok i said my peace. time to back into hiding.

so kim you gave me very happy memories listening to era 1 and clarity as well as the very happy memory of me being at your concert but this - along with the throat goat thing - and just you generally accepting the despicable behavior of these men - just has me at a point where i feel like this is just absolutely unacceptable

the fun part about this all is that i bet dr. luke had no involvement in this ep at all, it sounds too cheap for someone with many years in this industry like him but yeah i'm fed up with kim messy ass i ain't defending her no more, cancel her all you want i'm out of here

“it’s a situation between two people who i both respect” where is the respect for kesha?? has she even taken back her statements about not believing dr. luke is an abuser? or apologized to kesha for discrediting her and calling her a liar? you can’t say you respect her whilst respecting and being a “big fan” of her rapist. i wanted to believe that kim was working with dr. luke unwillingly but the aaron joseph tweets just go to show that she doesn’t care what he’s done as long as he furthers her career

don't know if i'll buy the album but i will buy something from kesha cause i'm gonna support the true queen of 00's / 00's inspired party music

This is what’s so weird to me, there was no reason for her to finish this song up with them like they did not improve the production in any way shape or form. The original production literally sounded better.

The second clip in this video The ONLY reason she receives the most backlash for working with him is because she is PROUD to work with him and defends him...so gross

From what I've gathered (I don't know if this is 100% accurate) but until she signed with his label last year, she had a publishing deal with Dr Luke. So everything was ran past him and through that I'm assuming he would just slap a producer tag on (for the music he didn't produce). But I'm sure he did still produce a lot of her music.

I understand and respect your opinion. I don’t disagree when it comes to people calling her out for trying to sweep his behavior under the rug. She would have been better off not answering the question at all in that interview. I just notice people jumping at the opportunity to chime in with hateful remarks (whether it’s here, twitter, or insta) and that’s what annoys me. i’ve just noticed this behavior in the majority of artist threads here lately whether or not it is warranted. People have become so comfortable with being rude to anyone that doesn’t share their exact sentiments. Even if there’s common ground, it’s like nobody can have a respectful conversation anymore. LMAO comments like this are exactly what i’m talking about. Like streaming a song makes someone rotted disgusting shit apparently. Whatever makes you feel superior i guess.
