Some of sounds I'd like to see on the new record: I ADORE it when she adds more syllables, letters or words than necessary. So, like "Su-su-su-sumertime Sadness, or "Bar-t-t-tender" or "DownatthemenatthemusicBUSINESSconference". That's literally my favorite thing she does. Can't think of other examples because she does it so rarely. It's like a vocal record scratch, and super unique to her. I also miss her New York accent, like on Blue Jeans. And I miss her baby voice (though I completely understand that's never coming back). But some new persona / vocal inflection we haven't seen yet from her would be great. Like her weird little backup vocals on Get Free, or her head voice on White Dress, or "I went down to Woodside" howl on Dance Till We Die. Hoping for a vocal surprise somewhere in there. We also need a banging bridge like the "You shoulda known better" on The Blackest Day, or the "I'm tired of feeling like I'm f-ing crazy" on Ride. Production wise, the only thing I hope for is a new sound. So, not too similar to folksy Chemtrails since we have that in the can, and no to singer-songwriter piano balladry like on BB, or heavy guitars/rock like on UV. A new genre for her to tackle, be it southern goth or country or something in between. The reason why I'm saying this is because I love how diverse her records are sonically.

It made sense in early 2024 when that was literally the next popular thing, but now....? It would just be an odd creative choice. The universe is telling me the country sound album died with Lasso but she also mastered a bunch of tracks in September so who knows. Wish I could pick her brain and see why she wanted to do a country album to begin with... something nobody in the entire world asked for

She hasn’t necessarily made bad music, all of it has been at least good other than Blue Banisters. It just seems like she has been spinning her wheels and waiting for something. She really hasn’t grown or shown much evolution since NFR and I think it is because her and Jack have really done everything they can together but they aren’t ready to part. It is also confusing because Jack talked about how they have been heading down a “strange” and wild path yet she is releasing another country/folk inspired project. It is so bizzare and I really hope she decides to switch it up soon because I feel like so much of her artistry is getting lost in translation
terrenceszyou 1,359 Posted 13 hours ago My only expectation for all of Lana's albums is what she always achieves and makes so special: being able to channel them into a unique energy and make them so unique and different. I like the direction this one is going. That there is a hint of country, there will be. However, what excites me most is the fact that she has already considered that the lyrical content will be less personal or diaristic, with simpler, less dense stories. The title gives me Violet book vibes; Even though she talks a lot about her own life, there are still many reflections on life as a whole. Along with this, there is her confirmation that her melodies are intended to be more catchy. So, I foresee a very pop album. The vibes that the supposed cover gives me are from groups like ABBA (in the 70s) and The Carpenters, masters of reflective music, but pop and catchy, although with a lot of melancholy. If Lana goes in this sound and aesthetic direction, it will be one of her best albums for me. I will pray about this.
Evergreen 8,822 Posted 13 hours ago Her wording in the album announcement is interesting too. She said "So grateful that my 13 tracks came together" which sounds more like it's just going to be a collection of 13 tracks and it's going to be the usual "Lana" album, and that's why she changed the title, because Lasso is too country-ish.

Chemtrails was a folk experiment that mostly succeeded. I'd argue that coming out of your comfort zone and making a whole album in a genre you haven't tackled before is evolving. Yes, it's a super quiet, low-key record, but it certainly broadened her horizons and discography. Similarly, Ocean Boulevard showed a new side to her and Jack's partnership with an experiment like A&W and the lush orchestral title track. And let's not forget that OB is one of her most critically acclaimed albums to date. The one thing I will say is that seems to be lacking some optimism and confidence since NFR. Most tracks are piano ballads, they're almost all low key, a lot of them are forlorn, and they don't really have the "Oomph!" of some of her earlier tracks like Ride, West Coast or Young and Beautiful. When you hear a track like "Love", it' almost like a completely different artist - upbeat, positive, poppish, self-assured. Now, it's like "Seasons may change... But we won't change..." Which is another reason why I liked Tough - much to everyone's displeasure. It shows a lighter, more melodic and upbeat side of her. Like, "let's make some pop, damn it."

That's not exciting at all. Considering that along with the nod to Roses Bloom For You, I wouldn't be surprised if we got another mixtape, which is what I consider Blue Banisters to be. People blame Jack, but I think Lana messes up when she wants to bring back old songs. I have many favorites, but I don't insist on any of them on new albums, especially if they need to be redesigned to do so.
Future Jazz 9,313 Posted 12 hours ago her going country actually makes a lot of sense, it’s neither strange nor unasked for. she’s been saying for years that she was interested in the country genre, plus she wanted to do something that would be lighter than her last records, which were very personal and revealing. i am sure she wouldn’t be very happy if she knew how her choice to make a country album is commonly perceived, as if it were ridiculous or something. it's in the vein of her past work, some of her songs have had country twangs and her definition of country is extensive so it obviously doesn’t mean any major departure from the sound we’re used to. actually we haven’t have heard anything from it, except that snippet of henry come on which sounds absolutely beautiful and the fenway song which everyone adores. the album is done and we’re getting it either way, we might as well stop questioning her artistic choice until we can actually hear the songs i’m sure we’ll be in a much better disposition for whatever’s to come if we just collectively stop acting like her choice to go country is ridiculous, and it’s also more respectful to her as an artist

reyybtddd12 10 Posted 11 hours ago To be honest, I expect a lot from this album, Lana has been working on it for 4 years and still has 6 more months for any changes to be made to it, I want to believe that it can have a big impact like UV or NFR, but I'm being too optimistic about the sound I expect something more like acoustic, after she teased roses bloom im pretty sure the album will have a lot of piano ballads BUT I trust zach dawes 😭😭😭 Just dont want Jack as the main producer of it
