21 likesThe way Lana slowly unravels the meaning of the song in Arcadia is so brilliant. It starts off so simple and seems like something cute as she describes her body as different parts of LA, and when she first says America it sounds so patriotic, like the way she used to sing about America. But as the song goes on we start to realize that it's not America she's admiring anymore, it's the peace of Arcadia. It's America that she needs to leave because it's not bringing that peace anymore. By the end we learn how deeply LA has left its imprint on her, hence her describing her body that way, but it's become something toxic too, and America is now associated with the hate she's given, and it needs a miracle to ever be returned to its former glory.

19 likesHi everyone. First, I just wanted to apologise for being sort of spotty this week. I was out of town for three days this week while I was filming a TV show (& yes, I stayed at a Hilton Hotel), and today I was out for the majority of the day supporting my friend at the funeral for her newborn. I finally had a moment to check in, and I saw this thread sort of took a weird, off-topic turn. I moved all the fighting that occurred in here into the Random Conversation Thread. In the future, please refrain from having off-topic arguments in the Pre-Release Thread. & as always, if something someone posts ever bothers you, feel free to send in a Report or contact me or another mod directly. Also, I moved the discussion about your favourite song from each album's track-listing into its own thread, not only because it was a bit off topic, but because I think it's a really cool topic of conversation that deserved its own place of discussion. You can find the new thread for that here. Well, since it's been a very long and exhausting week, I'm going to go take a nap now lol. Please behave, all! All my love xx

13 likesI personally don't like to use the word even in a joking context, but I'm also never going to tell people not to use it as I understand for a lot of queer people using the word is a way of reclaiming it. If you really want to fight homophobia, I don't think LanaBoards is the place to do it as this is obviously a very queer forum. If anyone were to ever really be homophobic on here, you can bet that we would all jump right on them and defend whoever they were targeting, and they'd quickly be banned. Anyways, there's a picture on the wall...

13 likesI don’t usually use the f word but it wouldn’t cross my mind to tell other people of my community to stop using it. Specially since it’s used as to reclaim its derogatory meaning and flip it and reverse it. It’s the same logic as the n word. To burn a fuse over (mostly) gay men using the f word on a safe place such as LB… pick a struggle. It’s also time people understand linguistics (albeit important and essential) is not the end all and be all of activism. If anything time has proven again and again how limited linguistics can become.

13 likesUhh, I hate to tell you but LGBT rights aren't legalized in America. It's still legal to: throw yr kids out for being gay, deny housing for being gay, deny services for being gay, killing a gay person over gay panic, denying rights to a job or promotions bc of someone being gay, etc. and it's worse for transgender people. America isn't a bastion of queer rights. don't smoke it causes cancer

13 likesI was blocked last time when I said this and it is absolutely ridiculous to block someone over voicing this. I will say it again, people should be getting mods for using the words 'f*ggot' etc. How come if I say I want a snippet I have a mod point but someone who outright says f*ggot doesn't? Do people even know what it is like to grow up in homophobic countries and fear for your life and hear the words f* being used in the most hurtful and denigrating ways? This board is so problematic and I think that clampigirl needs to re evaluate what people get mod points for. and also just stop allowing homophobia here. bye.

12 likesI think the remastered versions are basically just more compressed so for example her voice in Arcadia doesn't get as piercingly loud in the chorus and you can hear more of the instrumentation particularly the violins. I noticed the same in TB and WFWF especially w the percussion which is cool because now the songs bang and slap that little bit more and just sound better

11 likesI personally love how in your face (in your eardrums (?) ) the chorus of Arcadia is. It's like she's screaming at me But I understand that some people could dislike that. I think it's because the song was probably recorded in only a few takes (maybe even one) and had little to none corrections done (like pitch, volume etc). You can really tell by the way the second verse sounds cause it's a bit flat when she comes from the first chorus and how it's not even the same as the first one. It's almost like it was a live recording and I honestly love the intimacy and vulnerability of it

10 likesi’m pretty sure that’s not up for any one person to decide. queer people are allowed to do what they want regarding words that have been used to hurt their community, and it’s also no one else’s business whether or not we “should” use a word as a joke or not. as a trans woman i’ve been called f*g, tr*nny, and worse as a means to harass and abuse me for years, so me or any other lgbt person who is reclaiming words that have done the same to them shouldn’t be so controversial. plus this is, like i said, the blue banisters prerelease thread. why is this discussion even taking place here???

10 likesI mean, with the recent mastering/alterations, I'm pretty sure all her leaked unreleased tracks which supposedly haven't been changed will sound different or at least richer/more enhanced when we listen to the album. Boz told us Arcadia was same-y and basically piano-only so he probably hadn't listened to the final studio version. I'm here for Niko and Topanga's random meow feature on Living Legend.
