The end is amazing "And I was deeply concerned about the storming of the capital (sic) so ... fuck you"

honestly this is the first time she's made sense because we were looking at those headlines yesterday thinking damn they've all taken what she's said out of context really badly. if you look at the replies in a lot of the articles its stans being like wtf these headlines aren't chill and calling them out. yeah, she didn't articulate her bbc points very well and it was a rambling mess but they really did her nasty/dirty with those headlines suggesting she's supported trump or the storming of the capitol.

I mean, if I were her, I would feel the same? Ever since that QOTC post (which I still don’t understand why she felt the need to post - just say you think your colleagues are cool, and that you want to do sexy and sad things again like they’re doing and then just do it?), people have been saying she’s racist, that she’s a Trump supporter, that she’s a Karen and overall just mocking her. She’s tried several times to make people see that she isn’t any of that, but it’s not working and some people just don’t want to listen. It’s been going on for months, even over a year because people called Lana a racist after her fight with Azealia too, I understand if she snaps. I would too. I’m sad for her too, she kinda put herself in this position with that badly worded QOTC post, and I hope she won’t mind what people write about her too much. But I understand that it’s hard - you’re a person people won’t see, and you’ve been called a fraud and fake after your big debut too... I think it takes a lot when you’re criticized a lot for several years. Which might explain her “I’m the victim” way of seeing things. I dunno, I feel like I’m rambling too now lol.

Honestly I do find it weird (and gross) how a magazine that has interviewed her face to face and did photoshoots with her suddenly decide to choose ultraviolence by taking her words and twisting them so she gets attacked

Okay that was my favorite Question for the Culture episode. If y'all keep on misunderstanding her then it's on you

I actually agree with her snapping back at them here. These publications are taking what she said out of context, her comments about Trump made sense and they're trying to spin it like she's excusing him from blame for the Capitol riots. Complex should definitely know better and I would feel disrespected if I were her, especially if they have a pre-existing relationship with her. They're a music publication and she just dropped an instant classic yesterday, can they report on the music instead?

I don’t think it’s necessarily that, but rather the fact that there are actual tweets saying both of the things you said she hears. In 2011 everyone doubted her credibility because of her father, saying he bought her career since she has “no talent.” She was a new artist in the public eye and I can imagine people chalking up her career to a parent’s alleged money coupled with the backlash of SNL and the polarizing reviews of BTD (which often had more to do with her image than her music) traumatized her. And all of 2020, I’ve seen so many tweets of people saying Lana looks “racist”, stuff that says “she looks like she’d hate crime me” and don’t get me started on some of the photoshopped images of her with confederate flags, posing with Trump. That’s damaging - I know I would absolutely feel defensive and protective of myself if I saw people creating damaging images and portrayals of me. Her own fans do it - @/gayjailer on Instagram is notorious for doing that. I’m not saying that she shouldn’t access resources to learn more - we all can, as our world is ever-changing and it’s important to be aware of what’s going on - but her defending herself against several misrepresentations shouldn’t be seen as big of a deal as it’s being made. Btw I’m not saying this at you, I’m just using what you said as a prompt to point this out.

Of course Annie got uncomfortable as it went on, but people are acting like Lana turned to politics completely unprompted while Annie tried to discuss the music. Asking about 2020 is a loaded question, of course she's going to get into politics. She just didn't do it in as streamlined and concise of a manner as people would have liked, but her points were totally valid and she has every right to express them. Complex is too major of a publication for total trash clickbait headlines like that, especially given the long relationship they have with Lana. It was completely disrespectful and tasteless.

i'm not necessarily embarrassed but this isn't some YAAAS QUEEN DRAG THEM moment some of you are making it out to be. i feel bad for her that she lets this shit affect her so much, i understand calling out complex considering her relationship with them but then going for tone deaf articles that get an average 1 like per tweet who nobody is checking on just makes it seem like she's obsessed and paranoid with how everyone perceives her which isn't good for your state of mind. she shouldn't even have to waste her energy on a bunch of irrelevant magazines and grown gay men on stan twitter who feed off out of context drama. i really hope she's okay and she can take a step back from social media and not let this eat her up.

I for one am glad she's sticking up for herself. You have to call out bad faith actors or they will control the narrative about you. It's about time a celebrity stood up to click bait libel that passes as celebrity news nowadays.

"I was asked directly political questions for over 40 minutes" ...girl...you literally were not, Annie Mac tried to get you to stop talking politics multiple times But anyway, I'm glad she got off Twitter and directly address this on IG. I hope she has a good support system around her. Also please tell me I'm not the only one who was trying to creep in on her messy bedroom the entire time she was talking

Even though I’m not a fan of her past statements, especially her BBC1 interview, I don’t think some of you are aware of the kind of disgusting comments that she gets everyday all over her social media for almost a year now. And her main problem is - she wants to respond to each one of them and she usually does it in form of some long, messy statements that can easily be interpreted in a bad way. Stan Twitter is truly disgusting and even I got death threats from only running a Lana updates account and I can only imagine what kind of dark and twisted messages she gets everyday. So do I think all this mess is unnecessary and could be easily avoided by Lana? Of course. But I’m also truly sorry for her and I also think that how general public and critics treated her in the first 3 years of her career is what brought her to this point and she didn’t deserve it at all.

I dont think she's evil, I dont think she's a bad person, I dont think she's necessarily any of that. must be tough being a celeb and seeing headlines about yourself that you feel are painting a false picture BUT why does she not see why the words that she herself said can paint a particular picture of her? why, instead of lashing out in anger and these delusional statements ("you're jealous"), can't she say "sorry for my bad wording yesterday guys, let me clarify - what i meant was [insert explanation here]"? why can't she acknowledge that her comments have insulted a number of marginalised people? you guys know what i mean? like i said yesterday - a little sensitivity and tact can really go a long way

Sorry but I think some of you trying to act embarrassed for just the sake of it as “oh my gAghd she’s so clueless she needs to stop” well yes she’s not the best when she wants to defend herself but this woman has been silent for ages first they dragged her look and her “rich” dad and now they’re FORCING the fact that she’s trump supporter it’s her right to defend herself and don’t start with saying all female artists facing the same no im sorry but we all can notice that lana facing TOOO MUCH hate that seems to be trendy now

Well since we're already here can Lana drag The Guardian and Alexis Petridis ass? Of all publications they're the most deserving of a full twitter rant lmao END THEM QUEEN

This is exactly what i mean when i say she's in a really insecure place and is constantly in a defensive mindset. "You're trying to paint one of the only genuine artists as otherwise" when literally no one said anything at all about her genuinety in all of this Anyways. If she has the time and energy to do all this, why can't she respond to actual, well thought out think pieces critisizing her takes? There's no shortage of articles that aren't clickbaity and actually have legitimate non-reactive critcisms of her
