I think as Lana stans we are spoiled brats. We get to bicker about what album we like best in her relatively short career. We can chose, debate, fight between 7 released albums plus one more on the way, an EP, two unreleased records and 200+ unreleased songs; meanwhile other stans sometimes wait 5+ years in between album cycles/eras.

''I see your smile and I could run a methampheta-mile'' Lana was so quirky and crazy for writing that!

Nostalgia is normal--when albums like BTD and UV came out we were all younger, and maybe we miss that part of ourselves. I don't think it's unfair to want something similar. But I do think it's unfair to say Lana is re-hashing her past 3 albums over and over again. I don't see "Did You Know" as a song that could've been on NFR-COTCC-BB. I think her lyricism is obviously very different from when she was in her early 20s, and that's a good thing. She grew up with us, and even though most of us are quite a bit younger than her, we probably still relate to lots of her lyrics post-UV/LFL.

While I prefer “old Lana” and her veiled metaphor and storyteller approach to the writing of her first 10 years, I also appreciate the honesty in these last few albums. With Dragonslayer leaking it really made it clear that Lana, is aware she isn’t Lana , if that makes sense. She’s spent the last three albums deconstructing the enigma. And I love to see it!

I think Sky Ferreira is a testament to how permeating Internet culture can be. Like, I know nothing about this woman and have done nothing to actively learn anything about her, yet I’m so aware of the fact that she has been delaying an album for almost ten years———and that’s simply because of how information migrates to and overlaps with respective audiences on the Internet! It’s so fascinating. Oh - and she was also in that one scene in the Twin Peaks revival.

the entire bridge for hope There's a new revolution, a loud evolution that I saw Born of confusion and quiet collusion of which mostly I've known A modern day woman with a weak constitution, 'cause I've got Monsters still under my bed that I could never fight off A gatekeeper carelessly dropping the keys on my nights off

Benji Lysaght! he’s played guitar on California, Thunder, and Black Bathing Suit, and then did some of the synths/sound effects on the Ocean Blvd title track, but I couldn’t find a producer credit for him anywhere so it looks like this will be his first time producing

I just talked about this a few hours ago but I think her lyrics these last few albums, especially on Blue Banisters, have been her most interesting anyway. I will take songs about postpartum depression, politics, reflection about herself/her career, interpersonal relationships, etc over “Kiss me in the D-A-R-K dark tonight” any day

this is lowkey one of my favorite lines she's ever written ngl, it's the perfect example of her willingness to blindside listeners with "explicit" lyrics in an otherwise unassuming song

What are some Lana lyrics where an uncommon/big word is used? I’ll start: “When I look back, tracing fingertips over plastic bags, I wish I could extrapolate some small intention“

This album is going to smash. Ocean Blvd outshining both Arcadia and LMLYLAW three weeks out combined. Despite having zero promo.

I wonder if there will be a FIILY/Groupie Love/Summer Bummer situation with this record, where the vinyl has a demo version and streaming has the final

the amount of people begging for “old lana” is exhausting you really expect a 37 year old woman to sing about bad boys, old hollywood stars, drugs, etc.?? give it a rest 💀

while Blue Banisters is my least favorite album of Lana’s music-wise, it’s without a doubt her best lyrically; the songs read like poetry I'm better with you, It's strange, but it's true, darling Not to turn into a wildfire To light up your night With only my smile and nothing that burns I'll be like a wildflower I live on sheer willpower I'll do my best never to turn into something That burns like the others makes me very excited for the writing on this album (and also very sad about Behind the Iron Gates)
