First ones that come to mind are: Sky Ferreira and Everything is Embarrassing (She claimed she re-wrote it but then the original demo by Dev Hynes mysteriously leaked) Avril Lavigne and Sk8er Boi (The actual writer of the song did a whole expose on his YouTube channel and said her only contribution to that song was changing the title from "Skater Boy" to "Sk8er Boi" )

When a mainstream pop singer releases a "personal" album when in reality it's all written by 5 men and produced by some mega producer

someone needs to get a big lana account to do "fan projects" where we get the crowd to chant for a certain unplayed song every show it might be the only way we hear some songs live

Can’t tell if she’s really thanking her or just saying ‘thanks Lana because if it wasn’t for you being around to criticise I wouldn’t have made royals’

That's kinda groundbreaking news ngl but I think it was kinda over a longer time ago since she put Get Free in her Spotify playlist, her mom put NFR title in her bio and Lorde kinda vaguely said that she's in a groupchat with Lana, Taylor and Jack that's interesting though because in QTFC Lana accused "pretentious alt singers for telling that she's glamourizing abuse" and it seemed kinda that she alluded to Lorde with that. But who cares, what are your favorite songs from Pure Heroin? Mines Bravado and Glory And Gore

there's prob some im missing but for me it would be: Born To Die - red roses (lots of red rose symbolism/imagery through BTD as well as many other albums but it’s an iconic symbol of passion, desire, love, beauty, victory ) Paradise - bird of paradise (because well paradise also symbolizes freedom, joy and anticipation like ride and american for example) Ultraviolence - blue hydrangeas (hydrangeas can symbolize vanity and abundance this could explain the descriptions of opulence in the song old money) honorable mentions - deadly nightshades (ultraviolence) - witch hazel (is this happiness) - poison ivy (ultraviolence) poison ivy and deadly nightshades representing poison from the cult implications of UV. witch hazel is a symbol for warding off evil Honeymoon - rose garden mix of different pink roses such as the china rose and shrub rose (burnt norton interlude also pink and roses represent love) peonies also in the garden (peonies symbolize love, romance, and marriage) Lust for Life - daisies (lots of references to the 60s/70s in the album and known at the time as a symbol for peace such as when the world was at war we kept dancing. coachella references having flowers in your hair most commonly daisies but also references roses) Norman Fucking Rockwell - clover (venice bitch); specifically owl's clover (native to california and the coast; clover symbolizes luck and hope such as hope is a dangerous thing for a woman…) california poppies (because its the california state flower and symbolizes dreams, relaxation, peace very california-esque ) Chemtrails Over The Country Club - butterfly milkweed (native to arkansas and symbolize connection to nature and spirituality which is mentioned in tracks like tulsa jesus freak) honorable mention- buttercups (represent youth, happiness, friendship example- her song features with nikki lane, zella, and weyes ) Blue Banisters - wildflowers (wildflower wildflower; since there's a ton of flower references in blue banister i see it as collection of her old and new songs on BB similar to a collection of assorted flowers.) specifically violets (violets for roses; symbolism for spirituality, modesty, wisdom, everlasting love), gardenias (blue banisters; symbolism includes purity trust, and gentleness- possibly qualities she seeks in relationships), cherry blossoms (cherry blossom; symbolism for renewal and optimism; could be in reference to her wanting to have children possibly? or just the idea of rebirth ) DYKTATUOB - black dahlias (she dressed as the black dahlia in candy necklaces music video & black dahlias symbolize betrayal and sadness which is definitely relevant to multiple songs like A&W, fingertips, kintsugi, etc talking about a lover who wronged her, dealing with loss, struggling with depression and grief)

Rihanna is notorious. Sza’s album Ctrl originally revolved around her song ‘LouAnne Johnson’, she’s stated that Ctrl would have been complete a year earlier if she still had the song (and I think it even had a MV). Then Rihanna struck Sza went to a writing camp for Anti but failed to write anything that she thought was of any worth, so she played LouAnne Johnson just to see how they liked it. After hearing it, they were very insistent and she was pressured into giving it up - she’s said since that it devastated her. The song became ‘Consideration’ and Rih ended up with writing credits on it, even though it was already a complete song ready for release.

In 2013, during an interview where she discussed her album and Royals, she remarked, 'I was listening to a lot of Lana Del Rey, etc.' Lorde went on to critique the prevailing music trends of that time, particularly lyrics centered around driving expensive cars and flaunting diamonds which is stuff Lana was singing about. She expressed that these themes were the antithesis of her inspiration for 'Royals' as she couldn't relate to such a lavish lifestyle. This comment was seen as a direct critique of Lana and sparked a feud. If I recall correctly she may have mentioned the glamorisation of violence thing too. Lorde seemed to miss the intentional cinematic quality of Born To Die, which embraced the essence of Hollywood Americana. She also appeared to overlook the fact that a substantial portion of the lyrical content on 'Born To Die' was meant to be ironic. So that was Lorde’s mistake and taking an unnecessary dig at Lana. So is Lorde really thanking Lana?, or is she being shady about the whole situation and the fact she got a hit song from mocking Lana’s music? It isn’t really clear.

Just for fun and shady mess hope the mods don’t lock this- no hate to any artists intended- just to shine a light on the actual main writers or people who should be credited. here’s my contribution as stolen by someone on Reddit: Rihanna has a writing credit on same old mistakes- a cover 💀 When Bright, who also co-wrote Justin Bieber’s hit “Somebody To Love”, is asked to explain how Bieber got songwriting credit for that song (as it was originally written for Usher), Bright has no answer. “Umm… How did he get a writing credit on it?… That’s an interesting question. I don’t know.” Beyoncé claimed on TRL she wrote Emotions. The song is actually a Bee Gees cover. • Claimed to have written Survivor. Songwriters sued, settled out of court. • Claimed to have written Bow Down, when the demo was near finished when she got the song. It was originally meant to go to Rihanna • Claimed to have written Bootylicious after hearing the guitar riff somewhere. The demo was actually near complete when it got to Destiny’s Child. When the writers went to her father for explanation, they were told the public prefers to hear that their favorite artist is the one writing their hits. • Claimed to have written Irreplaceable. Ne-Yo’s demo is near identical to the finished song. After receiving backlash for calling her out, he gave her credit for harmonising on the song. • Claimed to have written Smash Into You. The song is actually a cover of the song Smack Into You by Jon McLaughlin. • The melody of Drunk In Love was done by Future and the demo was sent to Beyoncé. He didn’t hear anything back and wasn’t told the song would end up on her self-titled album. He didn’t receive writing credits for the song.

i know some of you don't have the patience for listening to the judah interlude but i'd love a track based off of it, the ecstasy in the song's just too powerful it needs to be properly amplified saying it again, her part in DCMA as well. and the deepening of her voice from summertime's gershwin cover
