ok damn billie! she called out artists who put out multiple vinyl variants with slight differences to get you to buy all of them. i have to agree because tbh vinyl variants should’ve always been about different colored vinyls/covers as a fun alternative to the album’s standard cover or black vinyl. and then also a deluxe record is fine too. but putting out different variants with a different song on each like taylor & olivia did…i think it’s very wasteful.

I enjoyed the cover but I will always have a bias/preference for shoegaze/dream pop it did take me a couple of listens but it clicked - I think the production is very great. I think what I enjoy the most about it though is that it’s a more unique song for a Lana cover compared to Video Games, Young and Beautiful, Summertime Sadness, etc. I’m glad to hear that her more “deep cut” music is influenced a well known band in the shoegaze/alt 90s music scene. if you like the track, do check out their first album as it’s great (the track Kick the Tragedy and Winona are great). They’re also probably the most prominent American shoegaze band, which is pretty cool (most of them are from the UK). It was funny - I was listening to Winona recently and there’s a line: “Another record shop story that was born to die”

SPRING BREAKERS, GTFU ANGELS

It leans most heavy into country and folk but as she said, it's a BEYONCE album. There's two specific moments that discuss the idea of genre bending. As a Mexican American with deep southern ties, this is such a beautiful project for me. Her voice is the best it's ever been and there's so much to sink your teeth into--you can tell as always she did her homework + worked with great collaborators. The GP will obviously go for the more upbeat tracks, but the most country cuts are some of the ones I see myself going back to often. A more than worthy follow up to Act I. I hope it gives an extra push in the industry to black country singers. I was such a hater before it came out but I actually don’t hate this

It's basically common sense but released music is being monetized, so sharing unofficial links that don't bring the artist money can get the site in trouble. Unreleased songs are bad too but the artist isn't monetizing those so they are less likely to pursue action in getting those taken down when they're already being spread everywhere.

this is only half related now, but looks like they released their white dress cover as promo for both their tour and their remastering of Delaware their first album. the original cover depicts a girl holding a gun, and they’ve changed it so she is holding flowers instead, and are donating proceeds to artists for action to prevent gun violence!
