i don't think we should worry when it isn't election night yet, i'm assuming most people vote on the night of election day, and that's when majority of votes start being counted, so let's not worry just yet, there's still plenty of time, plenty of votes yet to be casted, and votes yet to be counted

Many states also aren't allowed to start counting mail in/absentee ballots until voting closes for the night.

A lot of people I know (myself included lol) voted through mail in so I think its probably too early to tell which way it's going.

Voter turnout has been really good for early voting and today, which is a great sign for us!

The predictions were correct, it seems. Republicans cannibalized their turnout during early voting. Anyone who thought that early voting number would be IN ADDITION to their usual Election Day numbers was foolish.

Some states have changed the way they count early ballots, like Georgia. I’m hearing that most of the early vote will be released right after the polls close there, as a result of a new law. This wasn’t the case in 2020. Florida also counts them promptly. Other states do drag their feet.

 

Be ready for back and forth. It sounds like early vote MIGHT favor Harris, thanks in large part to women voting and conspiracies on the right about mail in voting. On the other hand, day-of voting seems to skew Republican a bit. Finally, in 2020 the early returns looked good for Trump, but then there was a “blue wave” of mail in votes in swing states that took a while to get counted. 
 

If it is a landslide, we could have results before the night is over. Based on consensus and other recent elections, the most probable timetable is a day or two, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we know early.

I requested a mail in ballot but it didn’t get here in time for me to be comfortable to mail it back, so I’ll be dragging myself to the polls 1 week post-knee surgery. I live in a blue state but my district has only been blue since 2018, so I’m not taking any chances.

not to mention, a lot of working america gets off at 5pm and they'll be going to vote after work (which is why it closes usually between 7-8 PM)

if Trump wins, there needs to be a way of helping people who will be the most impacted (trans people, AFAB people, the poor).

 

Trans folk and AFAB people need access to HRT and abortion medication, respectively, and we're going to probably lose both if Trump and the Republicans win.
