I honestly love her laptop demos so much because she serves vocals in the best way.. the melodies w the high notes? Incredible. The haunting vocal layering and harmonies? Stunning. I really wish some of her laptop demos were reworked into studio versions in the same way x -

By now most of the forum must know I'm a massive Suspiria (2018) stan so naturally the score by Thom Yorke has a special place for me. It's still just as magical as it was two years ago when it came out and while it's definitely haunting and maybe a bit distressing even (The Hooks, Volk especially), I also find it very soothing (The Jumps and Suspirium Finale). I've been listening to the score a lot lately, it adds a nice touch to rainy and dark autumn evenings. Also I can't believe Suspirium was snubbed at the Oscars -

I luuuuv soundtracks. I don't even know where to start. GREAT picks in here already. @DCooper Laura's Theme is an EXQUISITE pick omfg. The nostalgia that brings back and the imagery it conjures. Dark Space Low actually seomtimes brings tears when I sit and reflect and remember how tragic and doomed Laura is. @jvcx amazing choices and fuck YES to Ryuichi Sakamoto!! So glad his score was in The Revenant since I wasn't there for anything else. lawl. Also Michael Abels' score for Us was super under rated. The Pas de Deux scene was like a cherry on top of the movie. @MAX DEL REY John Williams for Star Wars! omg! I love the entire Phantom Menace score. The space opera orchestration is what I'm all about and is basically on par with Strauss' work. I'm addicted to Rey's Theme. My favourites are mostly BIG and POWERFUL stuff, for me a big main theme or many reoccuring motifs are what seal the deal. I also love strings since I'm a basic bitch but grand orchestration also takes the cake. And yes, I include some animated works with songs in them because their themes are arguably the most enduring and powerful of all (Prince of Egypt is one that does this particularly well). The Banquet (Tan Dun) La Vertia (Maria Bonzanigo) Mulholland Drive (Angelo Badalamenti) Pocahontas (Alan Menken + Stephen Schwartz) KÀ (René Dupéré) Wolf Children (Masakatsu Takagi) The Prince of Egypt (Stephen Schwartz + Hanz Zimmer) Memoirs of a Geisha (John Williams) The Heart of Thorns (Maclaine Diemer + Lena Chapelle) The Painted Veil (Alexandre Desplat) A Series of Unfortunate Events -

Life Is Beautiful

I saw this song as someone who may have attempted suicide and she's in denial/hoping it wasn't successful. As if she walked in after the attempt to find the person unresponsive & she's trying to have them come to & regain consciousness - Examples of the denial/hopefulness: Don't you pretend You're not awake When you know you are I see the way You're lying there // God wouldn’t do that He knows how I feel I can’t go through that And so it’s not real // Don't be so still You never are // I don't believe this is the end And I still feel your heart's desire & then in the bridge she's sort of trying to convince the person that it doesn't have to come to this & that there's still beauty in this world (hence the song title) and instead of focusing on whatever brought them to this point, they can just get away, escape their reality, and try to see a different side of life: Come on boy, let's go We can hit the road We don't have to say Where we're going We can go anywhere Right now Life is still so beautiful The message of this song was so unexpected to me because I remember when this song first surfaced via the Adeline trailer, it seemed like such a happy song. I totally thought this song would be a nod to the more beautiful side of life, but it's totally about the darker side. I really didn't expect it, at all. The title "Life is Beautiful" may distract from how dark and sad this song really is, but when you really pay attention to the lyrics.. it really is heartbreaking x -

2 likesHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has an insanely dramatic soundtrack. It's composed by Alexandre Desplat. The most epic might be "Courtyard Apocalypse". But this one, from the Philosopher's Stone (and used throughout the whole series) is definitely my favorite. Gives me the chills and the tears everytime.

Its defo a grower, i quite like the moody feel the songs have, whereas thank u next was much more pop, this feels a little more relaxed. a lot of the songs make me think of a rainy sensual night walking through a city, even though its very basic production i think its quite a catchy and enjoyable record in its own way, just takes some getting used to, its nothing groundbreaking though and wont age well in my opinion, but most of ariana's music ages badly so nothing new there, i'd give this a 6/10 right now, 7/10 in time - it's short and cute enough for me to replay more than once, i also think the songs have a kind of classic instrumentation to them in some parts my top 5 fav tracks are 1. just like magic (i loved this one, so sexy and mysterious) 2. positions (this song is good, i dont get the hate) 3. pov 4. safety net (i'd prefer it without the rapper, but this song is also quite sexy and dark sounding) 5. motive (this track is one of the few experimental sounding songs on the album, maybe its just me but its quite different for ari) my top 5 least fav tracks 1. my hair (this song is just annoying) 2. west side (snooze) 3. obvious (incredibly basic) 4. 34+35 (cringe) 5. six thirty (i like this song, but i needed a fifth song lol) -

I really love the album title, more and more! I mean something like Glass Hearts would have suggested vulnerability and fragility and that really doesn't seem to suit Miley as a person or her current place where she's at in life. I also like how plastic as a material suggests its harder to break, or can be molded and reshaped etc. Plastic Heart "could also be used to describe someone who is immune to heartbreak, or lacks emotion". It just feels like such a loaded title, especially considering Bangerz to present has documented her relationship with Liam (good and bad). When you dissect lyrics from some of the leaks and tracks so far it all just connects and feels so thought out! "I don't give a fuck, I don't believe in love." "Am I wrong that I moved on, and I don't even miss you?" "I don't belong to anyone, I don't need to be loved by you." "Don't you get too close. Love you now but not tomorrow." -
