All For You (unleaked) is probably in the tracklist as well, it was supposed to be released as a single at one point, but they went with Midnight Sky instead Anyways, I wouldn't be mad if she released a B-Side album or a Deluxe Version in the future, also I'm kind of sad that Slide Away isn't in any way shape or for in the album, I'm not a big fan of stand alone singles plus it flows so well with all of the other tracks, the demo!!! Savages is literally perfect no FROOT slander

I feel like Marina's lost her edge a bit when it comes to writing songs geared more towards political/social commentary. Sex Yeah was a great representation of what she's capable of, but songs like Savages and To Be Human feel a bit watered down, and surface level. I feel like once she gave up that angrier edge that Electra Heart offered, she lost some of that bite with it. She wants to be deep and make a statement, but it feels like she's trying too hard to be nice about it. She wants to make a statement without stepping on anyone's toes.

Oh but you're right, it's very true and as a huge fan of her I've been concerned about it too. Let's be honest here, it even shows on the way she'd been tweeting recently. The way she speaks too, it's like she doesn't know shit of what she's talking about. She seems to be very passionate about society and I genuinely think she does care a lot. That being said, it's true she doesn't really know how to express it correctly or at least through songwriting I guess. She ain't no activist so I won't judge her that hard tho, she's trying her best. She does better when the lyrics are close to home, and that's okay. That's why Sex Yeah will always be 100x times better and more emotionally shocking than Savages or To Be Human.

Again, she's lost a lot of her bite when it comes to making social commentary in her music. Savages was a cute attempt, but everything past Electra Heart has felt really surface level when it comes to making a statement.

Emotional Machine is a really great song, but it's just another reminder that L+F as a whole could have been much better. I get that she was trying to go for deep, introspective tracks with minimalist production, but the only tracks I feel like that really nailed that concept well are End of the Earth and Emotional Machine.

Savages does have some "though" around it like, it is basic but it's well built in metaphor and so on. To Be Human is... throwing a lot of things at a wall and trying to stick. It doesn't have any "depth" because there's no main subject. Like... yes the song is mean to be general but... it's just TOO general. And then there's stuff like "There were riots in America just when things were getting better" and it feels like... Getting better for who exactly? For sure her heart is packed with good intentions but it just feels a bit... shallow and trying hard to be something. To Be Human middle8 tho... she made some points.

FROOT is my favorite album of hers, no question, but even though Savages is a banger, when you analyze it lyrically, it does feel a bit watered down when you remember she was trying to make a statement about violence and human nature going hand in hand.

The constant bashing of L+F to be ~edgy~ is so tiring... It really wasn't a bad record, it's just a more minimalistic pop record.. Y'all are free to not like it, but give it a rest..

i agree with a few picks here, and others i can't argue with even though they're not my favs. but i would never put boys or what i like on even a top 25 list, personally.

I wouldn't mind her putting all of her live performances from this era on digital platforms, apart from Plastic Hearts tbh. I quite enjoy most of her covers, though.

When the Beach Boys were working on Pet Sounds, their label needed an album out for the holidays, but Brian Wilson refused to rush his masterpiece, so they had to quickly put together something else. So they recorded an unplugged cover album, then brought some friends in to record talking and giggling and stuff to add to the tracks, took some pictures playing at the beach, and quickly put together “Beach Boys Party!” in time for the holidays. When Lana first mentioned the idea of “Pacific Blue”, I had brought up how I wished Lana would do something like what The Beach Boys did, but that she probably wouldn’t.....
