wanted to share the sophie tribute art i did, to me there's nothing more iconic that her album cover for oil

I really hope she doesn’t feel rushed/pressured in any type of way to put out a statement on this because people are expecting her to do so. SOPHIE’s death hit me hard, I can’t imagine what it must be like for people actually close to her.

I really hope she’s alright. I was watching some Exchange videos last night and you can just tell how much SOPHIE meant to her by the way she would look up in awe at her while she spoke. She deserves such big hugs rn

I really hope that her label will release her sophomore album the way she wanted to...I know that it would seem as a cash grab for the label, but for us and for the rest of the world that would be like the last gift or mark Sophie wanted to give us, keeping her alive through her music

Such a beautiful mark on the world. It’s so surreal to think the utopia she spearheaded will not be expanded on by the same hands that created it. We must move forward without her , rejoicing at the fact we had someone so brave enough to be the catalyst. The catalyst for liberating a world in which the creator is living. I hope she knows , that happy place people are supposed to have, will forever be her and her music for millions. Awake and asleep.

Btw I just want to thank you all for creating a safe space here, i love reading your posts and somehow mourning with yall feels peaceful to me. I don't think most of my irl friends know how much this whole situation hit me & for me this whole process is way easier when reading and posting in this thread. Sophie helped me understand my non-binary nature and thanks to her i've created so many wonderful memories in my life and knowing there's so many people experiencing it in a similar way helps me get through this shit.

I can’t even capture how girl must be feeling right now. It must hit so hard, especially during quarantine. I wouldn’t blame her if it took months to even mention this (and no I don’t think there should be a time limit at all I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised). I came across Sophie’s gf’s post. God every word made me want to cry. From saying being with her was “the best dream” and how she’ll get to see the cosmos and that she now is an “immaterial girl”. I can’t imagine losing a partner like that. I hope she takes some time for herself as well. I feel bad for all her friends and loved ones. Sophie definitely is the last person to even deserve death, and it must be devastating for them right now. I wish there was some sort of festival to honor her name. Fuck, the fact nobody can decide to celebrate her life right now like that grips at me so hard

Coming to terms with the fact that we'll never get the SOPHIE experience ever again is so eerie. Her Heaven Suspended set was the best moment of summer 2020 for me and relistening it feels both empty and bittersweet, especially the My Forever outro, it's so powerful.

knowing how pure and sweet charli is i know she probably went to the studio and let her heart out for sophie i just know she's gonna carry on her own legacy and carry sophie's spirit within all future stuff .. long live sophie xcx and pc music altogether may everyone be able to heal from this tragedy

i can't put myself to listen to any charli song because hearing her all happy and lifefull and knowing that now she is a complete opossite of that... it just feels so wrong. also the fact she's yet to post... reading that will be heartbreaking

hey everybody. hope you are all staying safe and doing well. sophie was a major part of my 2018. i was never a big fan of her specifically, but i recognized her importance to music and "oil of every pearl's un-insides" was one of my favorite albums of that year. in 2018, i struggled with serious depression and anxiety. at the end of the day, her music was my source of happiness. even though i stopped listening to her stuff after that year, she still had a very important place in my heart. when i heard the news today, i was in complete shock. right now, i am listening to her album for the first time in two years. i can barely describe what i am feeling. thank you so much for your inspiring art, sophie. you reached for the moon, and now you are the most beautiful star in the night sky. i will never forget what you and your music represented to me in my darkest days. rest in power, my queen <3

This is a really small and stupid thing but I have been meaning to buy the Product vinyl collection for ages now, like its been in my wantlist on Discogs for ages but I never got round to it cause they were pretty commonly available for the price the originally sold for and I tend to prioritise vinyl in my collection which is rare/could become rare so I don't have to spend loads on it down the line. I literally have had Sophies vinyl in my Discogs cart for like a month now and as soon as this happens, they all sell out and now people are selling copies for like £145 and up when most of them went for around £12-£20 the other day. It is making me sick, not because I can't get them anymore but purely because people are making bank off of her death. It is disgusting and I wish there was a way to report it on Discogs. I am so glad I got my OOEPUI vinyl at the time, I will literally never part with it now.

I never heard of Sophie before. I'm not into electronic or DJ type music. I read the comments here and looked into some of Sophie's videos. This reminds of when David Bowie and Chris Cornell died. I was devastated and cried everyday for both men for like a year. I still cry sometimes if I hear one of their songs or watch a video. I can only imagine what Sophie's fans are going through right now, so my condolences to all of you here.

I feel so bad for Charli, she’s been silent all day. I’m sure she’s is hurting a lot. We have been such selfish gays. Imagine waking up to find out your best friend and collaborator passed. Plus all the work they did together basically leaked online other than a few songs Eclipse mentioned.

I came over to this thread to talk about how her gf’s post made me want to cry a whole ass ocean, and me seeing that she talked to her before she died and “we were supposed to get married”.....fuck everything. fuck it all. I’m not even joking. Sophie deserves a whole ass festival in honor of her. She deserves that.

i can't believe we won't experience her music the way she wanted us to experience it anymore... from now on it's just another leaks and maybe some posthumous releases and then it just *stops* there... even if we get to hear any of her unreleased albums it just won't be controlled by her and it's truly heartbreaking because we all know what a perfectionist she was.

I remember hearing Vroom Vroom when she premiered it on Radio 1 back in October 2015 and being left with a feeling I had never felt before. It was the first time I had music that truly sounded like nothing I ever heard in my life. It literally stopped me in my tracks and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had already liked Charli well enough (I was a big Sucker girlie) but SOPHIE brought out her magic and that was evident front he every beginning. And the rest is history.

Listening to XCX World instrumentals, SOPHIE's genius in producing these songs fascinates me so much! Can't believe we lost such an amazing talent and this work will never get the recognition it diserves.

I think listening to Sophie tracks is really helping me cope, I just associate good memories with those songs. Going from roll with me to burn rubber is so satisfying and to whoever posted that exchange style album So many memorable live moments in general between them.

No other girl in the game did it like her. I’m so sad we will never get another collab.

tbf i hope they do a tribute release for her. whether it's full of unreleased stuff for fans or just her sophomore, they'll do something i'm sure.

Not a super exciting answer, but the other contenders were mostly just Blame It On Your Love and White Mercedes. She played them both at the listening party prior to Focus/No Angel, and the GNO cover art was uploaded by one of the graphic designers under the name of “Blame It”. I believe Eclipse also told us that White Mercedes was going to be the first single instead of 5ITM...? And he also mentioned something about a new version of Glow being ready for release around that time, but I can’t remember exactly what he told us about that I feel like Bounce is a fair assumption since we got No Angel and GNO during that time, and BloomForYou implied that Taxi was considered too? Not sure if there was any truth to that, though.

I would like to start of with my most confident prediction right now - Asian Doll and her fire new single "Nunnadat Shit". I personally never cared or listened to her music prior this New Years until I heard a snippet of it and now I'm hooked, she's got solid bars. I can totally see this song going at least to #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 once the music video drops. It's already picking up in clubs and I can see it being City Girls' "Act Up" all over again. 2021 is definitely gonna be her year! As far as the next big artist, I recently discovered the new UK-based rap girl called Ivorian Doll (who is literally the same age as me). This girl has so much hustle in her, she's bound to bring a thon of accomplishments to her name sooner than later.
