He’s def an asshole I don’t like him but I just really don’t care enough to listen to (imo) an inferior version of the album so money goes to millionaire 1 instead of millionaire 2. Said this before already but they got enough money it really doesn’t matter lol. She’s taking ownership of her work & I think that’s great, most of her fans are gonna stream the re-recordings anyway so she’ll be fine if I don’t jshdjf.

its actually crazy that this era is like ... a real era lmao. like this is the first time since sucker that we get a real album rollout with singles (that are actually cohesive), artwork, videos, tour dates, preorder, etc where it wasnt all haphazardly done last minute.. we had to celebrate

sooo i actually met cecile last week... in one of our conversations i mentioned how my forever is my favorite song from her and sophie - i told her i think it's such a beautiful song and deserves to be released and listened by everyone! she agreed and told me i think it's in the works of being released! she also then mentioned about the 10 min version she made with sophie and I was really surprised to hear to that cos I did not expect the 10 min version that leaked last year was actually a real demo that cecile and sophie made one night... we talked about a few other things and i'm still so grateful for the opportunity to meet her. talking about sophie with her was such a cathartic moment for me because I've never really talked about it with anyone else so for me to be telling these stories and for cecile to just be listening is just such a surreal moment. truly a brilliant artist and voice. fuck i miss sophie so fucking much

Taylor’s Version has really reminded why Red is my favourite album of all time. With the vault songs and the 10 minute version of All Too Well, the album really tells you what was going on with Taylor when this came out and leaves no stone unturned, and no questions unanswered (I think somebody said this on the thread already). Songs like Message In A Bottle tying in with Come Back… Be Here, and All Too Well 10 Minute Version literally being a page out of Taylor’s diary, completely raw. The inclusion of Ronan is sweet too. Songs like Nothing New and The Lucky One being filled with her doubts and worries which she went on and completely obliterated in the coming years, winning AOTY two more times and topping charts constantly. Red is basically her autobiography - it’s crazy how she was just entering her twenties when making this album, yet it covers such ‘adult’ fears and experiences. One thing I wish she did do with this version is insert the vault tracks into the tracklist so it felt more complete, but I’m going to do this myself in a playlist. Sorry for rambling, I just love her and this album so much

I fear for 1989 TV and Reputation TV if she doesn't bring Max Martin back to redo the songs he did. He's probs very expensive to work with compared to other producers but remaking a literal pop master's instrumentals just doesn't work, it'll always sound cheaper.

I was honestly a bit nervous for the 10 minute version of All Too Well because it is such an iconic song but Taylor delivered On first listen a few of the songs sounded so off to me more so than Fearless but on 2nd and 3rd listen it def grew. I think I like the rerecordings more than the original versions (except I Knew You Were Trouble, that drop sounded too off...) but especially the title track it's amazing

oh my god my boyfriend and i woke up at like 7 to go to the ONLY target in our area that had it in stock, they only had two and were instructed by UMG to not hold it for anyone calling, because we definitely asked. Anyways, we were able to get one!!!! bless up for real

WAS LITERALLY STREAMING WHEN YOU POSTED THIS SISTER anyways here’s the real reason i came to this thread just went to starbucks and asked the barista (my neighbour) for the taylor drink and she literally sighed and said it comes out tomorrow (i’m pretty sure it comes out today, the 12th? to coincide with the album release?) and i think she just couldn’t be bothered to make it

the way that treacherous and the last time kind of sound better than the originals but she completely butchered i knew you were trouble and we are never ever getting back together??? regardless, i think the vault tracks were cute - you can definitely tell she was trying new things writing and production-wise at the time

i feel like a proper, full-fledged acoustic guitar album (not produced by jack, i have nothing against him, but his production often sounds watery & muffled) with intricate & simplistic guitar playing, with abstract & nostalgic lyrics, like lizzy grant's old acoustic demos, with a matured, evolved twist would be a DREAM

honestly i'm hoping for something different as well, i was never somebody who automatically disliked a lana song if it was a "piano ballad" but after blue banisters i'm totally here for something different, i expect that the album will feature some varied instrumentals, hopefully drums, synths, & electric guitar, a return to form, in a way, but honestly, if ldr9 was solely acoustic guitar, i wouldn't be mad about that at all, i do love the acoustic guitar!

On the subject of Swan Song, I honestly think it's one of the best songs Lana's ever made. I will never understand why it's so disliked

My biggest takeaways as a swiftie since 2006: - cried at “nothing new”—the sheer power of hearing Taylor worry at 22 that her allure would fade, while we sit here now, knowing she is about to turn 32 w/ that same album charting #1 AGAIN, fresh off a year w/ her 3rd AOTY Grammy win & 2 of her most acclaimed albums EVER! - I AM SO EXTREMELY SHOOK AT AWT10MV!!! SHE REALLY TOOK THE CROWN JEWEL OF HER CATALOG & MADE IT AN IMPOSSIBLE 10X BETTER?! SOMEHOW?!!!! I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS?! the new phrasing & production are just sheer perfection & all the new details she’s sharing with us just-😭 - I really love Red TV — It allows us to go so much deeper and get way more diaristic details about a pivotal year of heartbreak in her life. The new production is so detailed and clear. The rock songs I loved are rockier, the folksy heartbreak ballads even more crisp and biting. I love the singles even more than I used to, even though I play those least that’s about to change! The 10-minute version of All Too Well is her best song. The Phoebe collab! Synthpop vault tracks!! I have so many emotions!!!!

Carmen is such a well-written song. There’s the obvious storytelling about its namesake, but there are also two extended metaphors related to addiction and actual substances that make it such a genius, layered piece of poetry. The interplay between — 1. The verses + bridge (that detail Carmen’s experiences, perhaps as a user) 2. The chorus (which analogizes Carmen — the user — into the actual substance, with lines about potential effects [“cartoon eyes”, “butterflies”, a “mind like a diamond”] and “white lightning” being a likely street name for a substance that Carmen gets compared to) — is so enriching to listen to. It’s a tragically beautiful song and is just so eerily glamorous. It’s one of my favourites off of Born to Die and it’s so, so underrated. I think there is so much more to this song than people give it credit for, and what I’ve just written here barely scratches the surface. I could write a whole dissertation on this! The live version she did for NPR in 2012 is probably my favourite version. The acoustic arrangement makes it more haunting and lonesome, and her vocals shine beautifully here. The “weaknesses” are the strengths. They convey the true depression and pain of this track that I find to be absolutely beautiful, real, and raw. This fan-edited music video is perfect for this version too, and conveys its bone-chilling beauty. I recommend that everyone who comes across this post gives it a watch — I’ve seen this for years but it’s so worth revisiting.
