27 likesWhat he’s not even that old
-
25 likesIf he produced Honeymoon at the age of 54 he’s definitely capable of producing something just as good or even better at the age of 63. His age doesn’t matter AT ALL. His productions are literally TIMELESS

20 likesit's sad how some people feel that you're basically in a nursing home, knitting sweaters in your death-bed by the time you're around 60 63 is not that old

16 likesI just know lana would never work with Rick again, so if I’m being logical, I want Zach Dawes to produce her next album, like ALL BY HIMSELF thunder - black bathing suit - California - dealer - candy necklace - text book is all produced by zach, he’s very much capable of producing an album by himself cuz these songs r TOP TIER even y’all who don’t like text book u can’t deny that the instrumental was perfect

16 likeshe's only 63, that's not that old, he's younger than Cher and Cher is still amazing
-
16 likesFor some of us Rick is our favourite producer & it would be nice to get him back for a few songs at least, just to see what they would do together now & bc we love his team & production style & skills. I agree that some people probably will be disappointed & that Rick is not the youngest anymore ( he is like 63 but it's not that old ). But in the end if Lana wants to do piano ballads she will , if she wants to do something else she will, no matter who the producer is she is working with (as she should) & people just prefer different producers & their producing styles. And you can’t deny the fact that he is talented.

Lana's fans when she ditches Jack for some new producer they dislike even more: -
14 likesIn one of her interviews this year, Lana did say that the process of making albums with Rick existed in a "vacuum" of sorts –– and that's not to say that that's a bad thing at all. Those earlier albums are meticulously arranged and contain a lot of intentionality in their presentation, which requires some level of spatial distance from things to really focus ("in this town, an artist really needs a lot of space when they're trying to create something special," as Lana said in the Lust for Life trailer). But it's clear that Lana operates communally and has really leaned into the experience of making an album for the sake of sharing ideas within a community of songwriters –– that's evident in how she speaks of her crew in Echo Park (Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes, Benji Lysaght, Dean Reid, etc.) and of Jack Antonoff. Her recording music with local musicians and instrumentalists in Alabama really hones in on this idea of making music for the sake of the experience, rather than just the final product –– and I think that breathes a different kind of life into the music, as though the context transforms the way it's listened to. So it's just cool to be on that journey with her –– and this is not to preach from any high horse or anything, but I think you enjoy the music more when you just let it be released without any expectation of what you think it should sound like. (But I get that that's simply the paradox of being a devoted fan, so there's no way to completely get rid of that).

14 likesI never heard someone say bring Rick back so he can do a BTD 2.0. He is only credited on 3 BTD songs as a producer btw. And because people want one of their fave producers to return doesn't mean that they all want HM 2.0 or hate every single non Rick song she released since then. Jesus it's really forbidden to say I would like a song made with a previous producer again on this website It would just be nice to hear what they would be able to create if they hypothetically worked together again. I really don't know where the sudden Rick hate comes from.

14 likesI just want a fairly different sound like with her albums before, I felt that they were each really categorised by a unique sound, but that's kinda been missing post-NFR, though I did feel like a lot of OB was completely different for her
-
14 likesEvery pre-pre-release I manifest the one and only thing: RICK NOWELS AS THE MAIN PRODUCER Or even few Rick songs. I love his team's Kieron Menzies, Dean Reid's and Mighty Mike's songs too. Especially the latter, who additionally produced GODroin and 13 GODches.

13 likesi swear to God she can never satisfy any of their asses, and i'm glad that Lana isnt someone like Taylor - who 80% listens to their fans demanding shits even when it's uninspired. imagine if Lana was that kind of artist who clings on their old smash hits? she'd be looking like Meghan Trainor making songs like "made you look" for tik tok and shit imagine if Lana made BTD / UV carbon copies instead of innovative songwriting? she'd never be respected as a legacy artist she is now Lana is playing all her cards well & right & perfectly, after Ocean Blvd, i know her vision is so beyond us and her mind is insane - we got to accept that Lana is at her best when we know nothing to expect from her upcoming projects and that's why we're stans in the first place. I mean just look at the patern: - people hated UV when it came out in 2014, because it sounds nothing like BTD, it was so raw, too "dark", not as dreamy, string-y and cinematic as BTD - let's not lie and accept that most of us didn't give a fuck about Honeymoon when it first came out, we only cherish its beauty in these recent years, and the numbers tell no lies, Honeymoon doesnt do good numbers as its predecessors - y'all literally hated L4L - some of us hated NFR when it leaked in shitty quality, we even hated the muffled piano and the fact that she teased 80% of the album (until y'all see its widespread acclaim of course) - Chemtrails & BB still has haters now but we have come to appreciation for these albums my point is - just let Lana do whatever she wants, she is a random queen, we might get a boring ass country album ,but i swear she still can give us the best acid trip ever if she's mad enough for it. She is an unusual girl, and thats why we love her.

13 likesI swear some of y'all have this sort of virtual Stockholm syndrome with Jack Antonoff/Laura Sisk (and if I'm being an equal opportunity offender, even Rick Nowels), I get that they both have their respective appeal and they've both created their own legacy within the Lana fanbase--but there is a world outside of these two producers. It's time for a change.

13 likesI remember when some of the users (probably a Jack fan) here made a joke that Rick has dementia and is living in the retirement house and I believed it 63 isn't definitely mega old, why some of the people pretend that he's Prince Philip in his final years 💀 Currently, if I remember it right, Rick is working with an Eurovision artist who became famous through tiktok but in his Insta posts about Lana (especially when she dropped Say Yes To Heaven) it is clear that he misses Lana a lot

12 likesAnd then people switch up 2-3 records later and come to appreciate that particular album. The same old song and dance and more reason why it’s so important to actually *listen* to the music and develop your own ear for it, rather than be in an echo chamber of dissatisfied fans.
-
12 likesThe years pass, yet the conversations in every pre-release remain the same
-
12 likesActually, I doubt Lana is going to work with just one producer on this album...
-
12 likesOh this pre release is going to be hell isn’t it
-
12 likesExactly. I think he had a good run, three albums + two spoken words projects (one released and one that is perhaps lost for good). We've heard the range. An entirely new team, with new ideas, different vibes and thought process wouldn't be so bad at this point. I hope her little adventure in that studio in Alabama is her experiencing with new people, doing things differently.

11 likesas well as the negativity towards an album that probably isn't even fully finished yet

11 likesI feel like Lana may bring out a few surprise guests.. so far it seems likely that Nikki will come out for Breaking Up Slowly & Jon Batiste for Candy Necklace, which makes sense since these are both songs Lana has performed before and are therefore comfortable with, one of which is currently on her setlist. I would theorise that perhaps Zella & Weyes would come out for For Free since it’s a Joni Mitchell song and she has an iconic performance at Newport Folk, but both of them are on tour right now not nearby. Perhaps Lana will sing the cover solo as she did on the NFR tour. Imagine her bringing out Joan Baez though for Dance Til We Die or something… x

11 likesI still remember how they complained and dragged the released version of SYTH... "new version" PRODUCED BY RICK NOWELS.
-
10 likesidk about on lanaboards, but on other social media fans have been complaining about wanting "classic lana" back since uv. ultraviolence was too raw and not pop enough but then honeymoon was too boring and slow and not edgy anymore but then lust for life was too pop and too happy and not authentic enough but then norman wasn't cinematic enough and too unpolished but then chemtrails was too boring and simple and conventional but then blue banisters was too all over the place and unpolished and the songs were written too much like poems. and ever since uv fans claim every new album is the one where she's trying to hard to please the critics. its become super predictable

9 likesOmg wait imagine if in addition to Breaking Up Slowly, Lana and Nikki perform their smash hit unreleased song Prettiest Girl in Country Music… also, there could be a chance that Jon & Lana debut their upcoming collab on Jon’s album, maybe even during Jon’s set tonight since his slot is listed as “Jon Batiste & Friends” x
-
9 likesuntil lana makes “classic lana” music again people will keep saying the same thing. it’s been like this since nfr. i doubt lana is ever gonna go back to those “classic” sounds and melodies, we get glimpses of it in her recent works (ie candy necklace) but right now she’s very happy to create music with a bunch of different people and keep the production simple to express her writing rather than to be glamorous, dreamy, or melancholic. then again with lana you never know what she’ll put out 🤷♀️ i’m personally still hoping for a rock album in the future, we’ll see what happens.

9 likesI don’t mind Drew. His production style is capable of sounding very warm and comforting (IYLDWM, LTLI) and I quite like that . Even the piano-driven songs he’s produced (especially Sweet) have a nice full sound to them for the most part. As far as her more recent collaborators go I personally prefer the stuff she’s done with Zach but I like a good bit of the stuff she’s done with Drew as well. Can’t go wrong with someone who helped bring Fingertips, LTLI, IYLDWM, and Sweet to life
