Her vocals sound AMAZING. This sort of made me realize that as much as I love Norman, it doesn’t have too many big vocal moments. This is ecstasy

This reminds me of the most humiliating moment of my life when I took my friend to get a facial with me, and she asked my facialist if she "had a little playmate on the way" and pointed to her stomach, in which my facialist replied, "nope, just eating lots of cheeseburgers." I was so mortified from the second-hand embarrassment, I never went back. Anyway, point is, I always find it quite weird/creepy when people try to speculate if a woman is pregnant or not. Especially since we've had these weird Lana pregnancy rumours every year since 2015.. Like... ???? Give it a rest. Sorry for popping off here, but it just makes my skin crawl. Maybe I just really do hate babies that much that I don't even want to talk about the possibility of more coming into this world, but I feel like I'm not totally alone in my opinion that speculating women's pregnancies, especially women you don't know, is weird lol x

In her insta post, by “standard crew”, do you think she means her band and back up singers performed on the entire standards album with her? Omg! If so, is shaping up to be one of Lana’s best albums!

We don't trust him after the "something's coming on Tuesday" fiasco He just likes attention

The song is great as expected but I wasn't expecting that video at all! She's looking hot and like she's having a lot of fun. Loved the vocals, simple yet beautiful. Can she drop a 7" picture disc of this? Lmao

i'm sorry but i am so tired of people saying she's pregnant everytime we see her with a little bit of stomach fat, it's totally normal for a woman to have a little "bump" it doesn't mean she's pregnant, we have a digestive system and a reproductive system, we eat, we bloat, our weight can fluctuate... it's totally normal and when people see that and theorize a woman is expecting it's honestly super weird, we need to normalize the idea that a woman can have a little bit of stomach fat and it doesn't automatically mean she's expecting, it's just strange

Not people saying she looks pregnant again (it's the dress) - also idk why her weight is always brought up, she is literally so gorgeous. Last year at the Dublin show she looked ridiculously hot and toned, her THIGHS

Those are the original lyrics in the aria. While the song is a jazz 'standard', The Gershwin Estate actually still wields and exercises an extremely rigorous hold over the rights and performance of the song, which shouldn't/can't be changed without their express permission. It's much easier for artists to just adhere to Gershwin's original lyrics, so most covers include this line. For example - when Sublime used the opening melody of the song they wanted the lyrics to be "Doin' time, and the living's easy" - the request was denied and the use wasn't granted until they changed it back to "Summertime and the livings easy". You're correct however, the word "Mammy" has fallen out of contemporary use and is now considered offensive - it should not be used outside its original historical use.

The background vocals other than hers really aren’t that frequent in her discography and it’s a nice touch.

Am I the only one that actually enjoyed L+F? I mean it has nowhere near the artistry of her other albums so I totally understand why people don't like it but as a fun digestible pop album I really like it lol

I'ma have to stop you right there. I loved loved LOVED the cover but I gotta be honest: the vocals are really quite simple, nothing too exaggerated- she could definitely go way higher on those high notes (not that she needed to, I'm just stating that she could). However, she didn't and the performance itself is nowhere near oversinging, what made the song was her delivery (e.g the way she pronounced stuff, the whole lowkey vintage vibe). Now, if you wanna talk about the performance itself, the way she "acted"/lip synced, then I'd somewhat agree that she overacted but I guess that was intended- she might've been inspired by some singers from the 50s and/or she was just having fun, nothing too serious lmao

Oh. My. God. As someone who's never loved the blonde on her, I've been blessed and have changed my mind She looks amaaaazing. How does she look more and more beautiful over time, seriously? Just stunning. And that first "summertime" note slayed right away.

I got like five seconds in and I had to stop, it is so good I had to go outside and scream. I didn't realise how I wasnt ready for it. Omfg this might be the best thing she ever made. I can't believe how beautifully inclusive this is - her band and friends are finally on a LDR record. They're on the cover and in the video. Sad, lonely Lana del Rey is DEAD and loving, wholesome fun Lana del Rey is dancing on her grave with people she loves omg.

I'm more and more hyped for this album since she released Summertime. That and her cover of You'll Never Walk Alone (the latter won't probably be on this but I wonder if Summertime will)

We're obvi not in the same Universe rn, because that cover is phenomenal !! I have never shit on Norman (that's actually my fave LRD album tbh), but her cover of Summertime slayed. Not sure where you're coming from ?‍♂️ I'm ready for this whole covers album. I feel like Lana is in her pocket rn and this (kinda surprise / kinda last-minute) release is going to rock my tympanic membrane to its core.

Love it. The vocals (the notes and the vibrato in particular) remind me of The Man I Love: Especially the parts where she sings “I wanna fly”

She's been using Etienne Ortega consistently since around August, but I believe he first did her makeup for Rolling Stone last October. He's a pretty popular celebrity makeup artist & has done makeup for the KarJenners, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton, and Kali Uchis! x

WELL HELLO! And welcome to the first edition of what I hope to be many DrUnK cOvErS brought to you by yours truly. What I enjoy about these visuals - aside from the tasty beverages - is that I don’t second guess the artistic direction. I just do what feels right. So without further ado, a retro take on American Standards and Classics:

Again she recorded a cover that's better than the original version. That's what I love about Lana covers, they're ALWAYS better than the original versions.

What a surprise. From the first notes with the background singers I knew I would love it. It immediately gave me Thunder vibes. I think they are so complementary with her voice. Maybe part of the cover album is some of the covers she did with the Last Shadow Puppets during that period. The higher register of her voice fits the Jazz aesthetics so much better than the her more somber one (wich I absolutely love on her songs, but I love the change for that projet). She seems to be willing to explore her range more on her recent covers. I wonder if this will show on COCC or if she only allows to get outside of her aesthetics because it's covers. The musiciens, the production, everything is on point. I would love to see more of that on COCC. I also love how this video is really carefree and she doesn't seem to take herself seriously (I mean with Chuck playing a fake instrument). She really seems happy. More than she've ever been. She looks great. I love how she's covering the original song that inspired the other cover she did (that's probably the reason why she calls it the Gershing version). It's suits Lana's self referential lyrics habits. Maybe she could do a mashup on next tour.
