i feel the same way, she's going through a break-up, possibly ending her ENGAGEMENT and people are taking it as something funny or a joke when it's really not... i know we will all feel differently about it, and we probably won't feel the same way about it like lana, but i don't feel like anyone is being empathic or compassionate about it, we wouldn't act this way with a friend, why should we do it with lana? i personally want the best for her, and of course, we don't really know what happened and maybe the relationship wasn't working out, but i geniunely want the best for her

hoping for this kinda vibe from rcs: -flipside -serene queen -dark but just a game -the blackest day -freak -heroin -cruel world -is this happiness -kill kill -1949 -daytona meth -music to watch boys to -fucked my way up to the top that bitter, sarcastic but still dreamy kinda energy would make for such an iconic revenge album (i know not all of them are all these things, but they are all at least one of those things if that makes sense,- like mtwbt isn't necessarily bitter but it is dreamy)

I think it's really important for everyone to remember that at the end of the day, lana is a person just like any of us are - when we go through break ups, we would rather not have people celebrating it and being invasive. i feel as though it's a bit rude to see it as just "ultraviolence 2.0" or something like that. it's best for everyone to send her love and well wishes and leave it at that.

the most empathetic thing we could probably do is just shut up and give it a rest. but on a lana forum, speculation about lana and her relationships will never not happen... idk anyways i think we all love her and care for her a great deal, sometimes insensitivity is just frustrating and you can't stop it

I completely agree! The way people talk about her romantic life almost reads as though they don’t see it as anything more than content for her songwriting. I see so many comments about how she should go back to dating a certain person because it lines up with THEIR aesthetic vision for her records and that’s insane. Not just with Lana, but with any other celebrity, like you said. Even though Lana graciously tells us her life story within these songs, the life she is living is still very much real and I don’t think her being a public figure who selectively shares details gives anyone - fans or not - the right to harass her friends/family/partners or make light of the realities of romantic relationships. At the end of the day, we don’t know her and I’m sure if we were in her position, we wouldn’t want anyone making comments based on the very little/next-to-no information that they have.

i honestly find it strange how often ldrakalg is downplayed, and i'm not just saying that because it's my favorite album by her, if you ever read an article about her and they mention ldrakalg, it's often regarded as a cheap, random album that isn't really a part of her discography, but it's a quality album produced by somebody who's worked with paul mccartney, regina spector, and stevie nicks, so it's not like he's some sort of random guy without credibility, the album itself may not have the most groundbreaking production but it's very diverse in it's sound which a lot of albums just don't do, and it's a valuable, quality album in it's own way, i understand not everyone is going to listen to every project she's ever made, especially if it was before fame, but i agree that it's really silly that they disregard everything she's made before video games

Unpopular opinion but I don’t want Rick back for this album. Dan Auerbach or any other rock producer would be great.

Another thing that really bothers me is how so many journalists disregard her creative output prior to 2011 as “plain Lizzy Grant, a failed songwriter” which is incredibly offensive. Not only is “plain” somewhat suggestive of a negative connotation, but it’s also just not true LOL! LDRAKALG is an album full of personality, character, and motifs that have naturally evolved into her later albums. I remember in several interviews from 2011, Lana would very diplomatically defend the album and you could tell she was always a bit perturbed at journalists suggesting she was a different person who did this total 180 in image and sound. Very weird...

It's also important to keep in mind that Best doesn't always been Favourite. So, you sort of need to look at the list objectively. But pretty much since Hope's release, I've acknowledged that it is technically her best song. That doesn't mean it's necessarily my favourite (it's in my top 20 though) but there's so many elements of the song that really make it a true masterpiece, and nothing less. It's her best song lyrically - hands down, no contest. Her vocals are incredible. She perfectly executes beautiful high & low notes that display her range. Not many artists can do this in the way she does. The melody is just beautiful and simple enough for anyone to digest, yet not too simple that its boring or forgettable. The production complements the song just perfectly. I know the production is a reason why some people don't like the song as it comes off a bit too simple or "boring" for some, but the song speaks such volumes on its own - it could have been an acapella track and been just as powerful. For this track, the production enhances rather than defines the song, and that's a true tell sign of a masterpiece song. A heavier production would have just drowned it and took away from its delicacy and specialness. The song is incredibly emotive. I'm a strong believer that those who don't like hope just haven't been in the situation the song is about. Once you've been in that place - feeling like you've gone crazy and that all hope you had for the world has slipped like sand through your fingers, all the way to the point where you're no longer building a house out of that sand anymore but a house out of rediscovered hope - you understand this song. You become a part of it. I intend to write like a whole essay-post on why this song is her best one day and post it in the Hope thread or something, but for now, those are my brief thoughts x

i don't think it's really fair that they put other artists songs she features in, that she most likely has little to no creative input on, in the list. like the kasey musgraves duet cover above her original songs doesn't sit right with me.
