18 likesi need some stronger instrumentals. cocc has good instrumentals but not great instrumentals. they're really good and the melodies are perfect but i want them to be fleshed out. i love that her voice is in the front of the songs but i need something like west coast where that guitar synth??? comes in towards the end and it's weeping against lana's voice and it's such a beautiful contrast from her voice and the dark wah wah sound behind the drums also can we have some kind of vocal layering like we used to get? i think only TJF had some but the vocals being layered behind the guitars during the bridge of Shades of Cool were phenomenal and the vocals from FMWHTTT being layered toward the end of UV was a choice I need more of. also!! the Barrie vocals during the ending of Brooklyn Baby!!! UGHHHHHH i go back to UV and it only makes me realize how BADLY i need someone to work with Lana who can evoke something so pleasing to pick apart again that the next layer you pull from a song is only scratching the surface

12 likesforgive me if this is long, but I want backstory with it!!! So Paolo De Gregorio is an Italian producer who was living in Brooklyn around 2007 when he signed up to be a juror for a songwriting competition, which a young Lizzy Grant was apart of. He thought she had potential and invited her to his studio to record some stuff for free (generous king!) and they ended up recording two songs in the session. One being "Rahab" (which has a separate mix titled "Rahab II") and another, unknown song which he previously described to another user on here back in 2017 as a "4-5 minute blues ballad." He told them back then that he wouldn't feel comfortable sharing the title and if he were to ever share the song he would only sell it to a label. Today he mentioned that the song is actually still on his hard drive, and that he's "not sure what to do with it." He described "Rahab" as being just a simple voice and guitar demo and was aware that it eventually was finished and retitled "For K, Pt. 2". While searching for "For K, Pt. 2" on YouTube, he stumbled upon "Rahab" and was really shocked (and considered asking them to take it down) as he didn't know it had leaked, so I informed him of the infamous stolen laptop. After he found that out he seemed a little bit disinterested in the conversation, so I didn't pry any more for the song we don't have other than a final try at knowing the title, to which he replied that he actually didn't remember. This is all stuff he revealed to me today. The only previous knowledge of his existence was just his name being attached to "Rahab" and the unheard song. He is like the nicest person ever as he didn't have to share any of this with me yet still did and was willing to converse casually. This is how producers should be treated btw, not scammed

9 likesThis is probably so random coming from me, but suddenly the whole revenge-plot of Rock Candy Sweet is reminding me of: And just her delivery of those lyrics, mixed with how chaotic that song is, is truly iconic it’s really giving Dealer/Noir comparisons from last year but on a serious note and all jokes aside - I really am excited to hear how she’s going to seek revenge on this album. Brooklyn Baby, Money Power Glory, and Fucked My Way Up to The Top really explored her more vengeful sentiments regarding her place in the music industry perfectly. I cannot wait.

I've seen mass Tinashe leaks, mass Lana leaks, Mass Charli XCX leaks none of them had these snippets so damn fucked up, like either leak the HQ or don't leak nothing at all, I get that we are in the middle of pandemic and you lack attention, you are stuck at home and your step-dad is brutally beating your ugly diaper ass for being a faggot, but come on. I love Melanie but her stans will make me go full Millie Bobby Brown mode. -
8 likesI'm hoping for more relatable/creative lyrics on this album. Chemtrails had better songwriting than Norman, but I can't personally relate to most of it bc obviously I'm not famous. She's sung about fame plenty of times in the past, but it could usually be interpreted multiple ways, and I really miss digging through all the layers of meaning in her music and figuring out what it means to me. There's probably more to her newer lyrics that I'm not picking up on, but they just seem so straightforward to me and I'm ready for something more complex.

6 likesit reminds me of young adulthood, when your big enough to make your own decisions but still dumb enough to get yourself in trouble (relationships, moving around, being unsure of your future). I also categorize this album as a time before social media. She has a lot of time with just her thoughts. It always makes me nostalgic for that time period in the late 2000s when we only had flip phones... i put rhinestones on mine! We were hot.
