43 likesThis anniversary almost passed without recognition. It's hard to pin down an exact "anniversary" for Videos Games' success since it took a few months to take off and there were multiple uploads. But the original video was first uploaded by Lana 5 May 2011—10 years ago today. Here is a link you can see the upload page as it appeared on 15 May 2011: http://web.archive.org/web/20110515012736/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uKl3xeBVY4 It's funny I hadn't realised her Keds Collective video was still live at the time until now (3rd suggested video in the list)

36 likesI wonder if this album is meant to contrast the sonic hype of BTD, as well as her reputation. Like, it’s something of an allegory, coming 10 years after her debut. - Mike Dean is primarily a hip-hop producer. BTD is heavily laced with hip-hop influences. - Blue Banisters appears to be a ballad about broken promises in love, wanting to settle down but having not done so yet, which kind of complements the whole sentiment of Video Games (how the verses were the reality of being in love but also somewhat cast aside, and the chorus was how she wished things had gone with another person) - Lana attracted negative attention that was unwarranted in 2011/2012. This whole album has kind of been born out of the negative press she’s gotten over the last year. I don’t think it’s an entirely intentional thing (like LFL being a “full-circle moment” from BTD) but I wonder if it’s her paying homage to that early sound and putting respect on that narrative, especially since she was proud of it at the time! And it was unfairly critiqued. That could be the revenge in question; putting respect on BTD’s name (and everything in between) and proving the point that she was unfairly judged from the start.

26 likesHi guys, girls + non-binary pals. With the 10th anniversary of "Born to Die" approaching. The opportunity for the label to milk one of the best selling albums of the last time is imminent. Do you see it happening? A Re-edition with properly released and produced outtakes, another boxset? New vinyls? I'm hoping for new merchandising, for collectors. And maybe bring back Emile and Rick to overproduce an EP with some unreleased tracks. These are the ones I hope she brings back: CD1 -Standard album + 3 bonus tracks. CD 2 -The Outtakes: 01. Kinda Outta Luck 02. You Can Be the Boss 03. Driving in Cars With Boys 04. Hollywood's Dead 05. Serial Killer 06. Damn You 07. Last Girl On Earth 08. French Restaurant 09. On Our Way + more outtakes (?) DVD -All ''Born to Die" era music vids.

26 likeswhile she puts her foot in her mouth with dates it’s hard to deny she’s one of the hardest working singers right now. She is constantly releasing albums, we got NFR 2019, VBBOTG (both audio and book) 2020, Chemtrails 2021, and she’s already talking about ANOTHER album for 2021 NOBODY else is working that hard and I personally don’t think she is completely responsible for the wrong dates. I’m absolutely positive things go on behind the scenes that delay a project. Should she stop giving dates out that aren’t confirmed? Yes, definitely. Do I think she’s a liar? A little, she just announced prematurely. Do I think she’s unprofessional? With all the content she constantly provides? Not even in the slightest.

24 likesThe way Lana is getting the most promo and buzz she’s gotten in YEARS, all for posting a random ‘album cover’ she knew EXACTLY what she was doing and I love it

24 likesLet’s not talk about racism, colonialism and politics in this thread! This is not what the thread was created for. @Nahime I ask you to ignore people’s replies from here on. If you want to keep the discussion(s) going, I suggest writing people a private message. I also ask everyone to stop keeping this conversation going. Don’t bring up things that happened pages ago. Thank you all for your cooperation!

24 likesThe fact is Lana is one of the most creative and prolific artists ever and she's made the deliberate choice not to play the game the way she's "supposed" to and we should all accept that and be happy that she's found a way to navigate the industry in her own way. She's obviously not a mean spirited person and I don't think she posts fake dates to purposely upset us. She gets excited about things and announces them too early, and then either red tape or her own indecision or both lead to delays. It's not the end of the world at all and I really don't know why after a whole decade people are still expecting anything different from her. Accept her for who she is and enjoy the brilliant art as it comes. The best ones lost their minds, so I'm not gonna change, I'll stay the same.

23 likesI’ve wanted her to cover “Wicked Games” for the LONGEST time and when her and Chris performed it at one of her NFR tours I’ve thought about it at least once a day.

21 likesEven if the rollout of an album or project is messy, I know Lana put a lot of heart and time into creating her albums etc i would rather have an album envisioned, written, worked on first handily by an artist like Lana with a rocky promo rollout than something artificial and solely for the money from an artist that has a promo intense rollout we literally are fed almost every year, she’s all about the music and art, the rest (videos, promo, etc) comes second she’s got another album coming out this year AND confirmed she’s working with mike dean currently MAYBE for another project. She doesn’t stop! But love the drama y’all keep it going

18 likesLana can be messy, and that might come across as unprofessional sometimes, it's true. But there's no denying she's hardworking. She's always working on new projects, and that might be the reason behind her "laziness". While there might be a gap between an album and another, she always starts working on a different project, as soon as she finishes the other, or sometimes even works on both (or more) projects at the same time. Hence, the disconnection and why she moves onto the new era, without even finishing it, so quickly. It's understandable, and at the same time confusing for the fans. I get that. It can be frustrating, yeah. I get frustrated too, after all we're spoiled little brats. But if we have that many material, it's because she never stops working. Her 200+ catalogue of unreleased songs, plus 7 (official) albums in only 10 years should give that away easily. What makes me happy, is to know she's talented, so I don't have to worry if I can't connect with her future projects as much as I did with her past. I know there will be at least one song I'll love, or perhaps her visuals... or even her vision of the project. Just because we don't get to witness it too often, it doesn't mean she's not passionate anymore

17 likesCan’t believe it’s been 10 years! The amount of music she’s made within this past decade - released and unreleased, including songs we haven’t heard or don’t even know about - is unreal.

17 likesUnprofessional? Who cares. She is such a hard-worker as a songwriter. 2019 - The Amazing NFR 2020 - Audiobook 2021 - COCC and BB We shouldn't complain.
