26 likesi feel like if any other alternative female artist experimented like lana did with this album, with polarizing vocal styles, tempo-changes, "scream" vocals, & confessional, thought-provoking lyrics, etc. they would receive praise & acclaim, but when lana does anything that's not in the perfect little nfr "she's changed & she's happier now!" box she gets draggd & laughed at, people really need to forget about the lana del rey "image" which she was perceived as in 2011 and see her as the person & artist she actually is

19 likesi geniunely don't understand how anybody could rate ultraviolence 2/10 unless they had a personal issue with her i can understand that ultraviolence isn't for everybody, it's definitely not your typical alternative/rock album, it's filled with emotion, catharsis, melodrama, & experimentation, but i feel like a 2/10 would be for a record which is straight-up uninspired or completely boring, or geniunely bad, such as poor production or if the singer couldn't sing, the production of ultraviolence is gritty & raw, and lana's vocals aren't classical "perfect" vocals, but it's obvious she made a geniune effort, it's a major progression from the baroque-pop sound of btd & paradise, she tried something totally different and i think it suited her very well, and honestly, you can't say this album is a 2/10 when it has WEST COAST, that just doesn't add up

16 likesWhat off key vocals is he even referring to other than the second verse of Arcadia, and the yelling on BBS/Dealer? "Off key vocals in almost every pocket of the album"? Bitch, where? Honestly, all the things he doesn't like about the album - how raw, messy and varied it is, are my favorite things about it. I would say it's definitely the most Hardcore Lana album yet, in that it's closest to who she is as an ~actual human being~, so clearly she just isn't for him. He may not like the execution, but he can't say she didn't experiment a bit here. Also, rolling my eyes at him falling into the Twitter-esque interpretation of Text Book and basically calling her a fake ally. He fell for every single bit of the critic bait.

15 likesDon't you see fuckface Fanato will never understand her? That goes for all the other stuck up rats who review albums and think they're some sort of grandeur music critic when in reality the only people watching them (for the most part) are 14 year olds and other insecure men who need to adopt opinions as their own to seem more interesting. Also, I'm cackling at the only person here agreeing with him being the Lana body shamer who said if we like BB we aren't real fans. The jokes are writing themselves

15 likesNaaah, it’s simply the old/new effect. I fucking love the four singles (all of them), but these days I’m not streaming them like I used to do before, just because now we do have brand NEW songs catching our attention! This also influences the poll, in a way or another (that’s why I haven’t voted yet lol). It’s just that, and it kinda happens every time

13 likesAfter watching the bald man's review and reading some posts on Reddit over the past few days, I find it ridiculous/funny that people are not getting Dealer. Like I could understand someone not liking the sound but saying she's failing to belt or that her higher register is shaky when she is OBVIOUSLY screaming/yelling and not trying to sound "good" is just silly to me. How can people not realize it, it's like they shut off their brains when they listen to Lana's music? lol

13 likesI just know Potato Fanta says mad shit about Lana like he's stuck in 2012 where it was the national sport for music writers to shit on Lana Del Rey. On a more serious note, this guy just fundamentally does not understand Lana as an artist. He sorta became a fan of Lana overnight when she released 'NFR!' AKA her most digestible album (like most sycophant music writers have) and has been acting like it's the blueprint of her album ever since, but that's beside the point—this review was just seriously ridiculous. Mind you, this is the man that rated 'Born To Die' a 3/10 and 'Ultraviolence' a 2/10. He's literally only taken "seriously" because, for some obscure reason, he's like the only semi-famous music critic on YouTube?

12 likesNectar of the Gods is such an LDR staple, a classic, unreleased or not. So glad it found a home! I remember at the Violet signing at B&N last October, Lana mentioned how prophetic her own poetry can be and how even her own songs can speak to her years down the line (and just two weeks later, she would record Text Book and the title track, two tracks integral to BB). All the leaked songs that ended up on BB, I have certainly gathered new meanings from while listening to them within the context of the entire record. It’s quite amazing to witness part of her journey with those tracks.

Unpopular Lana Opinions

Apparently this is unpopular now, but the singles from Blue Banisters are some of the best tracks she's ever released. Ethereal and sublime. -

12 likesIt’s actually mind-boggling to me how no critic has even bothered to look into the layers and layers of the lyrics. Like, I have read the reviews, and even in the positive ones (which I am not complaining about at all) each journalist offers such a shallow, surface level interpretation of the lyrics, with some critics making a laughing stock out of her. And when someone backhandedly and condescendingly mentions, “oh! This is Lana Del Rey telling her story,” it’s funny that they — someone with the privilege and esteemed-intellect worthy of a platform to write critically about music — still cannot get it. Somehow, Lana’s unrelated “controversies” can be woven into reviews, but context clues she’s littered graciously about the album to help piece its hidden narrative together are nowhere to be found. Tragic!
