I wonder if Lana’s gonna end up going through a Dolly Parton phase, where she’s releasing albums each year/multiple times a year. She did it this year, she did an audiobook in 2020, she did NFR in 2019. She’s been talking about the singer-songwriter genre returning and it just makes me wonder. I’m not talking like a country phase, but the release schedule. I guess it’s harder for her because of vinyls and i love collecting her records, but i’d be so happy if she decided to just drop like 2 more albums in a year where they’re available digitally at first

Lana's response to someone criticising her dress -

The director of LDR Village just informed me that he was the one who made her mysterious DNC jacket! When I asked about the meaning, he said, "All I can say is not democratic national convention haha. I'll keep you posted once I can actually say something." When I mentioned that fans would love for it to be included in a future merch drop, he replied, "oh it might!"

this dress business is ridiculous ... are we still pretending like Gucci and Steve Madden and Marc Jacobs and other fashion houses aren't using child labor because they overcharge by 400%?

Yeah lol people are quick to call out celebrities “buying” fast fashion yet do absolutely nothing themselves to help the cause. I’ve seen many influencers do brands and sponsorships for sites like Shein and get absolutely 0 criticism. Just can’t believe people are so quick to jump to conclusions that she MUST have gotten this dress off of Shein simply because a couple fans speculated it. Let her live. Can’t believe her own “fans” are coming after her on a private account that they should be grateful they’re allowed to follow. Lana doesn’t owe any of us a look into her her life, yet she allowed us to still keep in contact with honeymoon and some people are taking that for granted. Anyway, sorry for going on this rant. Stuff like this just really bothers me. Tired of teenagers spreading rumors just to seem like they give a crap about the climate or child labor. Do more than bully people based on pure rumors. You’re not helping.

Slant Magazine chose Chemtrails over the Country Club as the #1 best song of the year and the album at #4, right behind Blue Banisters at #3. What they said about the track: On the title track to Chemtrails Over the Country Club, Lana Del Rey settles down near Brentwood, an affluent Los Angeles suburb, where she begins to feel torn between pedestrian normalcy and the pop-star stratosphere. In her restlessness, she seeks thrills in street racing and finds meaning in astrology; likewise, the song’s production gradually grows more ethereal and mesmerizing. Often in pop songs, unconventional turns of phrase represent awkward efforts to fit lyrics to a rhyme scheme; here, though, Del Rey’s experiments with syntax deepen the song’s themes. (What does it mean, exactly to live “under…country clubs”?) She applies the writerly instincts she honed in her poetry collection, Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass, to bridge pop aphorisms (“It’s never too late, baby/So don’t give up”) with diaristic specificity. Like “Text Book,” the opening track of Blue Banisters, the other album she released this year, “Chemtrails Over the Country Club” clarifies how Del Rey wants to be seen: as both a grounded person and an otherworldly talent.

I fully agree with this, however, I don't think that takes away from acknowledging Lana's impact on modern female alternative/pop music. Of course it all dates back to her inspirations and the women before her like Joni or Joan. Lana on her own though has a lot of accomplishments as well and there are so many artists right now that site her as an inspiration, even people like Taylor Swift. I don't think that anyone on here thinks she necessarily invented anything, but rather that she helped bring certain elements of her music as well as the music of earlier female artists back into the mainstream.

i see what you're saying, but i don't think anybody is intentionally trying to rewrite & erase history by celebrating & recognizing lana's achievements, majority of people here aren't going to talk about, or even be aware of, other artist's accomplishments because this is a forum dedicated to lana, we're mostly going to talk about lana & only lana, & i would say that no two artists are the same, i'm sure there's been other artists who've blended genres together & innovated music, but lana did it in her unique way during a particular time period where it was effective & it was innovative, & that should be recognized as well

Lana shouldn't release album at least to Spring 2023. She should rest and back with something fresh and innovative. Lana must get new ideas and release something what she never done. Less piano and acoustic, more craziness. Leave mid-rural USA, back to New York, travel to Florida clubs and visit Osaka/Tokyo queen.

i don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion but she NEEDS to come up with something new lyrical wise. i love every mention of the color blue, about her being crazy and wild, her candles in the wind and her missing her old life but after the past 3 albums it’s gotten a bit stale and repetitive. can she PLS come up with something new, new topics, new thoughts. damn it girl give us a concept album, a musical in album form, a story from A to Z idk something new and different. same for the production, i LOVE bb it’s one my fav albums in a long time but we need more variety. the piano and muffled drums were great but i need her to do something spicy, exciting and most importantly unexpected like we’re talking about the woman who created her own genre, who blended orchestral music with hip-hop and trap beats, do something BOLD…

I love Lust For Life the album AND Summer Bummer. There’s honestly not a single song I dislike on the album, even if I do prefer the demos. I think the album was very necessary for her and her growth as an artist as she was trying new things. The aesthetic of that era is forever nostalgic to me and it is probably the era where I was most excited. I’ll never understand the hate for the album. Love is a great opener, even if 13 Beaches would’ve been better. I can appreciate it for what it is, even if there could’ve been improvements Maybe part of my love for this album is simply because it was the first Lana era I was old enough to truly enjoy. I remember being 12 and listening to Lust For Life that whole summer. Not sure if this opinion is super unpopular on here, but all of my friends seem to hate this album and I have to constantly defend it

Imagine a world where Lana: Never announced any incorrect release dates for any part of the COTCC era Released Chemtrails as the lead single in August 2020 with the music video dropping the same day as the single Gave us a high quality Tulsa Jesus Freak music video Put as much effort into the album and singles artwork as she did for BB Released the album in October 2020

I was driving today in the snow, and Yosemite came on. It's so fitting for the winter. There are some songs that fit a particular season or moment in time, and Yosemite, Let Me Love You Like a Woman, Chemtrails are perfect for snowfall

omg I would love to have the jacket as merch! Especially since it would probably mean other stuff on the same level of quality and design too

i don't think anybody did it exactly the same way lana did it though, you can't expect everybody to be aware of what other artists have done, especially since we're all lana stans, we're all going to mainly focus on her achievements & successes, even if another artist did something similar at some other point in time

Blue Banisters seriously feels so iconic and it’s only been out for a couple months now. It feels similar to Born To Die or NFR! in the way that it’s a staple in her career. It hasn’t been out for long, but I know this album will be a memorable one in Lana’s career (not that all aren’t already)

I'm so so thankful for Lana & her music. And I'm so thankful we got two amazing albums this year..I still can't believe it Just wanted to say Chemtrails is one of my faves & I absolutely love it , it truly has a special place in my heart & also all the memories which are attached to it COCC era was a bit messy but full of iconic moments & the pre release thread on here was iconic & it was so much fun being a part of it Truly love Chemtrails with my whole heart, this album means so much to me Blue Banisters is such a masterpiece too, it truly is my favourite album of hers along with Honeymoon Ultraviolence & Chemtrails are sitting next to them, BTD & P are timeless classics, NFR really was the soundtrack of my Summer & LFL is such a good album too, the last three songs really hit me this year Also I think we should appreciate again that we got Yosemite & Dealer this year. Two absolutely stunning songs & the wait was truly worth it We won big time this year Pls this made me emotional, I love you all

On a happier note, Madonna's daughter Lola Leon coming after people like me who didn't like that outfit Lana wore to the Variety awards. I don't agree with that outfit, but love Lola and Madonna. It's amazing how much she looks like her mom.

Not sure how unpopular this is, but I don’t like the last quarter of BB. The leaked songs being completely unchanged really drag the album down for me. I know the argument can be made it’s my own fault for listening to the leaks, but Thunder got a new arrangement and the three leaked songs could have had so many little things done to them to help them fit in the album.

I’ve been relistening to the Chemtrails title track a lot lately and it’s so funny how my year is ending the same way it began, with the same song on loop… Def a winter track and one of her best.

Every single song for me is strong except Beautiful which is still fine but is a little weaker than the rest for me. I still enjoy it though. But seriously a strong album in my opinion.

If every album flowed based on purely sound, that would be so boring. I would rather have tracks that have a variety of different sounds that flow together story-wise or lyrically than sonically. If another ballad played after those 2, it would get repetitive. Dealer is a nice refreshing sound so that it doesn’t get tiring.

I wish she'd do a random commercial just for Japan, where she's looking into her closet for something to wear, to then walking down her stairs and then saying, Blue Banisters, my new album out now and then she drives away on her tractor smiling
