Hi all, I wanted to check in with you all about the recent rise in drama that the mod team and I have noticed over the past couple of weeks. It appears that drama on the site among members is at a peak, so I wanted to pop in and remind you all that LanaBoards won't tolerate certain types of behaviour. It seems that the drama is especially high in other artists' threads and in world news threads, especially when it comes to hot-topic debates. While LanaBoards welcomes opinions and discussions of different viewpoints, it is important that these opinions are shared and discussed in a respectful manner. As stated in our rules, LanaBoards will not tolerate any posts that are meant to be purposely inflammatory (flaimbaiting to intentionally start an argument) rude, hateful, insulting, or otherwise crossing a line, and members violating this rule will be warned and given restrictions at our discretion. This is something the moderator team is going to be taking very seriously as it is our mission to have LanaBoards be a safe and welcoming space for all. Something we've especially been noticing a rise in is personal attacks towards other members and people including other artists, which is something we won't tolerate. Let this serve as a reminder that behind the usernames and profile pictures, we are all real people with real feelings. There's no need to make things personal. Please be mindful and respectful of this when communicating with other members. Again, we do welcome varying opinions and healthy, constructive debates, but please keep these respectful. Think before you press reply. Something else to keep in mind is that not all intense debates need to be made public, especially if they're veering off-topic of the thread. We encourage users to make use of our personal messaging system to have private discussions, but again, please keep these respectful. We understand that news is slow at the moment on the Lana front so tensions are a little high, but please don't let this translate into disrespect towards others. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns - you all should feel comfortable to reach out to me or another staff member at any time about anything. It’s from the best day of my life aka back in May when I partied with Lana at V12 club in Atlanta I was hesitant to change it because tbh I don’t like how I look in the picture considering I sloppily did my makeup in the car on the way there skfnsk but it’s such a beautiful reminder of my happiest moment (on what actually began as a terrible day) so I wanted to finally make the change ♥️ Skfndks sorry, I made the post on my laptop so it looked better there, but I wanted to have a larger font to really get the point across. I also keep LanaBoards at 75% on my mobile browser (I use Safari) which tbh I recommend you all do, the site as a whole looks so much better at a lesser zoom once you get used to it x Love you too babe - and all of you, seriously. Even our troublemakers, I have so much love for you all. This community is so special to me and it’s all because you all make it what it is. Even though it can be really stressful at times to be the owner, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s always my honour to continue hosting this place for everyone and I don’t take it for granted x Unfortunately, I don’t see this as an option, but I’ll reach out to the forum software company we use to see if this can be implemented. I’ve actually been preparing for a pretty big site update that will introduce some new features. I was originally planning to do this back in May, but we kept running into issues with our hosting server provider, so I postponed it. I still haven’t been able to find another host that’s suitable for us but I still really want to do the update, so I may attempt next month. I’ll make a proper announcement when I get closer to doing this as I’ll have to take the site offline for some hours while I make the updates x I want to reiterate this - this post was definitely influenced after cumulating events rather than one single isolated event. The mod team has been discussing this for awhile. Things weren’t dying down and drama was still sparking all across the boards, so this post was necessary. However, I am happy to see some members taking accountability for their actions. To members involved in recent drama, don’t be afraid to ~work it out on the remix~ and perhaps DM some apologies to members you feel you may have upset. I really do hope things will calm down from this point forward as I would love nothing more than to see LanaBoards go back to the safe, fun, and kind community that I know we are and have been over the years x

I also think people are judging Kamala far too soon. She's within striking distance to Trump (~46% to his 47.5) with 0 Presidential campaigning. I am almost certain that once she starts holding large scale rallies, and once she comes out running, she can close the gap - if she plays her cards right, and if the party gets behind her. She needs to be tough on Trump and Vance's reproductive rights beliefs (probably the biggest wedge issue right now), and imo pick a VP that comes from a swing state (either Whitmer or Shapiro - Beshear is great, but he's not gonna make a difference in key areas of the Electoral College, he appeals to a base that is already voting blue).

This is definitely not about one specific event, argument, thread, etc. Like around the time the Taylor thread got locked, then at least two others around the same time, then the Zodiac leak and the tensions there. Then some users get banned. It really never cooled down after. The mod team has dealt with quite a few incidents since that necessitated this post.

i know people would consider it a barrier for kamala harris since she's a women, and she's not white, i know some people have biases, but i believe in her, she's younger, and i know she's not even going to entertain debating about her golfing skills i feel like her (or pretty much anyone else) would completely eat trump up in the next debate i know she isn't perfect, and people have valid reasons to dislike her, but she's probably the most likely option given that she's the VP, and honestly, i don't think majority of politicians are truly moral people or have completely moral backgrounds

i agree with your post, but... when the candidate you are voting for has no chance of winning, you sort of are, i think people should have the right to vote for who they want to, but if we're concerned about trump coming into office again, if we're concerned about project 2024, if we do not want that to happen, the most logical thing to do is just vote for the democratic candidate, do i believe we should feel obligated to vote for someone we don't really like? no, i believe things should change, but that isn't going to happen this election cycle, i don't want to start any disagreements, but i think we need to be logical about this, the other candidates have no way of winning and the only way to keep trump out of the white house or project 2024/other hurtful policies out of our lives is by voting democrat, i know voting for lesser of two evils suck, but that is what it's come to

there has been a noticeable shift in the amount of petty arguments and personal attacks on users, spam posts & trolling recently and it’s made the site unenjoyable for some and difficult to moderate at times. we just want a fun atmosphere with *sensible* disagreement if there is any

I would literally vote for Jill Stein (there is genuinely zero chance of this happening, the humiliation of 2016 humbled HRC to eternity) The Kamalocalypse is upon us and I’m ok with accepting that at this moment in time. I appreciate her advocacy for Palestine (as good as you can get, yk) and it’s time we had a Democrat who had actually decent foreign policy. She absolutely has to be pushed to the left on some things, but I feel like that is genuinely feasible. So idk why they won’t do it already. She’ll totally beat Trump. Biden won’t. It's not OK, but why are we acting like it doesn't go both ways? Melanie got 10x the hate when the allegation initially came out. Nothing really came of it, people moved on, and now history is repeating itself since there's a new audience on TikTok. Melanie still gets harassment from Timothy's supporters, and vice versa, that's how it's always been since 2017. But it's always "Melanie needs to defend her against the hate" and never the other way around - People fail to realise they have both, and still do, experience online vitriol. TH supporters were spreading around leaked revenge porn of Melanie in 2017 from when she was barely 18 as "revenge", they're currently spreading Melanie's address on Twitter, calling her black boyfriend racial slurs and trying to contact her parents. And of course death threats, but like who's surprised, it's the internet. Are we urging Timothy to speak up and defend her though? Because she hasn't. Also there's no "new" situation; it's the exact same story from seven years ago being retold on a new platform. There is no information beyond what was already known and said back then. We had seven years, and people have brought it up constantly since then, so it's not like anyone forgot. Maybe it's a true enlightening for some people, but IDK... the sudden outrage just because it's trending on TikTok is giving faux activism to me. I wish there were a real solution to this, but they've both already made multiple statements. It's been nearly 10 years since the alleged incident, there's no new information, no action being taken. I'm not sure where either of them should go from here.

So i always associated the line “They build me up 300ft tall just to tear me down” as Lana talking about herself, but today i was thinking that the Statue of Liberty is also 300ft tall, and giving the context of the song (America needing a miracle) maybe she was talking about the country itself? The statue could symbolize the USA with all its glory, representing the American Dream and all that stuff, and then with the recent political scenarios all this symbol is destroyed. Honestly, I can totally see her label pushing her into reworking Lasso from scratch if what she said about it sounding American Songbookish is true. I feel like it must be a quite personal project, maybe not in lyrics, but in a vanity project way like HM in which she's been working for some time and is passionate about, regardless of it being comercial or not. She's been having such a repeak since OB's release and I'm sure her label wants her to keep the momentum. Tbh, I'm surprised that they haven't forced her into releasing the unreleased album yet with so many old scraps going viral and doing better than her current releases (SYTH). I think Lasso (if it's still even called like that) is going to end up being LFL 2.0, maybe with some country influences like Tough or not, but surely poppier and maybe even like her earlier stuff (a revamped BTD sound with some acoustic sensibilities and mature yet not that serious lyrics). I can see Rick Nowels coming back to the team.
