9 likessummertime's her worst cover. the production great, the part at the beginning with the backup singers is amazing, but her vocals on it don't fit the song at all. it's uncomfortable to listen to.

7 likesDon’t hate me but I thought NFR (album) was lacking in every way possible. It just doesn’t have the Lana Del Rey feel. If someone was to cover an older Lana song, I’d be able to tell that it was a Lana cover but I swear any indie artist could cover any song from NFR and I wouldn’t think Lana had written it. There are some moments in the album that are absolutely amazing like the FIILY vocal layering towards the end and the verses of California but all in all I just don’t like it. It’s lacking production-wise, lyrically, etc... Even the chords and melodies are SO predictable and commercial - especially in the chorus of Love Song (imo obviously)

5 likesif you think nfr is a bad album you just have to wait for your next rock bottom mental breakdown where you end up relistening to the whole thing and then the album will find a special place in you

5 likesi think she really embodied it, i love the sleepy, lazy vocals, and the overly loud beat track really gives the track character cuz i got a feelin' in my bones guess i got love on the brain

I miss the ambience Lana used to include in her music. The live show samples, the sounds of crowds and birds. Norman feels like it’s missing so much atmosphere... almost like sitting in a quiet car and hearing that ringing sound of the silence. Nothing she makes sounds as “anthemic” or voluminously crafted as National Anthem or Lolita anymore. God Bless America & Heroin were a nice throwback though in terms of production. -

Hopefully she will release a deluxe including songs from She Is MC... The album feels too short, Midnight Sky remix and those 2 covers don’t seem to help. I really wanted the 3 EP’s trilogy to be released -

So it's been a week since PH came out and I've been listening to it nonstop, not just specific songs but the whole album over and over again. I love it so much, every song is a killer and cuts deep, w/ some cutting even deeper, like Angels Like You (a legendary and heart wrenching chorus if you ask me), High (this song is so accurate for me, it's insane), Hate Me (cue the moment in September when I first heard the lines 'drownin' in my thoughts, starin' at the clock, and I know I'm not on your mind' whew, I felt that) and Never Be Me (when she sings 'I'd never lie to you, baby' in the bridge I always lose it) Also Golden G String is a beautiful way to end the album. I was a bit ambivalent towards the new version of Bad Karma in the beginning, but now it slaps hard. I've literally lip synched to every song time and again lol. Gimme What I Want is still probably my fave, but I honestly love every song, I can't stress that enough, the title track is such a bop. And plus all the live performances she's given this era so far slay hard, Heart of Glass, Zombie, Who Owns My Heart, Midnight Sky at Tonight Show might be my fave live performance of that song, I still have to finish the Zane Lowe interview, listen to all the backyard sessions songs, and try to find the new Howard Stern interview, I read some bits and pieces from it today online. And the looks this era have been such serves too, love the album cover, the hair, the style - everything. The pics of the booklet I've seen online look dope too. Plus 75 on metacritic is pretty great, her best score yet. Even the pitchfork review was good, it raised some very good points, though they could've given her a higher score So I'm just gonna say thank so much, queen. This is an amazing era. -
4 likesI´m addicted to Summertime. when she sings "until that morning" that´s bliss for me. NFR is rather boring,

Right. I'm tired of Cry Baby - and Melanie has shown to be an amazing songwriter off-character with After School. Girl, drop Cry Baby already (5 years!!!) and move on with something new. I'm here for it. -

this!!!! idk how unpopular tbh but the samples/atmosphere throughout Honeymoon, I mean think like Salvatore, even the sample from 13 Beaches... NFR as a whole is literally just plain and beige I'd say Venice Bitch can come close but also just feels like Jack's surfer-wavy bloated attempt at emulating what Dan Auerbach did masterfully on Shades of Cool -

I listened to 126 genres this year. My top genres were: Pop Adult Standards Art Pop Rock Canadian Singer-Songwriter (lol, clearly Dollanganger) My top song of the year is West Coast. I first streamed it February 2nd. My day with most streams of West Coast was October 14th. My 50th stream was September 11. I streamed West Coast 81 times this year. My Top Songs were: West Coast Fuck it I love you Don't Call Me Angel King Paten by Holly Henry Doin' Time My top decade was 2000s. My top song from this time was Womanizer by Britney Spears. My top artist of the year was Lana Del Rey, of course. I am in the top 0.1% of her listeners this year. I spent 7711 minutes listening to her music this year. I listened to 273 artists this year. My top artists were: Lana Del Rey Nicole Dollanganger Holly Henry Fiona Apple Ariana Grande Altogether, I listened to 13,467 minutes listening to Spotify. I deleted the Spotify app from my phone several months ago though so I only play it through my TV now. I have the free version of Spotify so Doin Time and Don't Call Me Angel are not representative of my favorite songs. Not even close. Personally, I think my most listened to song this year on Spotify is Money, Power, Glory then West Coast then a Honeymoon song probably. But I do have four Spotify accounts so that is probably distributed unevenly. I can say for certain that my top two artists were right, considering not just Spotify, but also Bandcamp and my downloads. I mostly listen to music through the downloads on Windows Media Player. -
