25 likestell me you have no analytical skills without telling me you have no analytical skills. banisters: something you grab on to for support, to prop you up and to guide you while you climb and descend a staircase, without falling. blue: usually represents sadness, melancholy. Also represents stability and consistency. I think the latter definition applies here. green: represents growth, harmony, wealth. grey: represents balance and neutrality. “blue banisters”: a consistent, albeit potentially melancholic, support system in her life. A man who only comes in May, and is perhaps absent otherwise. “And now my banisters are green and grey”: her support system is in harmony, balance, wealth of emotional support. Her sisters who are always surrounding her. Who come to her often to help her paint the blues green and grey.

15 likesLol about your BB comment about the BLM line, here’s my analysis of it, because it took me a long time to see how the line made sense... Text Book is all about daddy issues... and her relationship with Sean was all about that, from an external POV. And he was a cop. Although I don’t think they were still together at that moment of the marches, the song is written as if the cop BF saw, at the marches, that she was not conservative or racist like him. And it was the breaking point. I could be totally wrong honestly and it’s one of her tougher songs to know what it’s about, but that’s how I explain the BLM line in the context of the song.

14 likesThoughts on the new songs: OBSESSED with blue banisters and textbook. Wildflower is good too but for sure my 3rd placer. im kinda shocked everyone thinks they’re boring! Lana seems to be going down a road of natural profession in her music and these more free flowing structured songs with poetry influence just seems fitting. I feel like a lot of people on here claim to want her to “evolve” but in reality want her to devolve back to her 2012-2015 sound, which imo I mean yeah that was a great era of Lana but we already have those albums and that sound. im very excited for this record and can’t wait to see what songs from the past she revisits aside from cherry blossom and what new stuff she cooks up!

12 likesBb is not NFR 3.0. Cocc itself is diff from Nfr. And also COCC isnt as horrible as people make it out to be. Cocc gave us WD/TFJ/CHEM/YOSE/DBJAG/DTWD/WAH All stellar tracks And the 3 tracks we got from BB are the kind of music I love. I know they may not be everyone's favorite ..but doesnt mean she lost her creativity/lost her songwriting. But yes ofc everyone has different taste.

I mean no one cares for him, for what he has done to both poppy and mars ... he needs to apologize for that instead, especially when he didn't do much towards Melanie. His apology means nothing when he doesn't mean it, his just desperate to pay rent Stop giving his toxic a** your time. -

11 likesi love the new songs yet i definitely don’t want her the pursue that "poetry but make it a song" direction. its a nice change for a song or two, having a more free form approach and so. and i get she loves poetry, good for her. but i honestly couldn’t care less about her poetry. i stan lana for being a musical artist, who makes music, not for being a wannabe poet and i deeply hope it’ll stay that way

10 likesI do think both TB and WW do represent an 'advance' in her songwriting and artistry, just as 'HIADT' and 'Yosemite' did. They really show more of what she's capable of. And, additionally, TB and WW are more like her poetry than HIADT, at least to me. It's as if she attempted to meld her poems to actual melodies and music, instead of using 'atmospheric' background music. And she really succeeded. BB, is, for me, more like HIADT--it's a creative success, but not necessarily something I want on repeat. Now, whether Stans, fans or critics want an album of WWs and TBs is another matter, or whether Stans want to see her continue in this inward-turning, 'private mythology' direction. Clearly, many of us love these new songs, and, more importantly, relate to them. Many musicans in the recent past and relatively distant past have done the same thing over time---Nico, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Laura Nyro, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Jeff Buckley, Twenty One Pilots and many more. They more or less leave their main or initial fanbase behind. Some, like Rayland Baxter, go the opposite route--from deep, touching and meaningful songs to pure 'sell out' fluff.

Arts & Crafts is a Cry Baby outtake recorded in August 2014 the same month she did Jumprope and the album photoshoot. No K-12 songs were worked on in 2014. She also did not record songs with the intention of them being deluxe tracks/Extra Clutter. Those songs were made during the album sessions and later picked as deluxe tracks. April 2014: Cake May 2014: Teddy Bear circa December 2014 (finished in 2015): Play Date Gingerbread Man was likely recorded after Cry Baby's release, just as a Christmas single Cry Baby sessions ended around early-mid 2015 and K-12 sessions started in late 2015. your post is inaccurate. -

9 likesThis tracklist is giving me LFL “she would never title a song ‘In My Feelings’” since everyone is complaining about it, it’s probably legit. BOZ did say she was going into her past a lot so maybe she is releasing YTH and if the tracklist is leaking we have to be really close to an announcement/the album
