It lowkey upsets me when I see fans saying they disliked COCC, BB or even NFR. I know some of you have gripes about vocals or production, more technical things like that - and I definitely have felt like some of the material hasn't been *my speed* but I can't bring myself to call any of her recent output legitimately "bad", Lana has her styles that she sticks to and while I may find some songs more interesting than others, I think all of her songs are very pretty but I am likely biased I think perhaps in some ways the fan base has out grown Lana or Lana herself has out grown her fanbase. She is aging (and I don't mean this in a negative context) and maturing and the lyrics and sound have reflected that. I mean there's still some fans who are hoping for a BTD return to form or still have BTD+P high in album & song rankings and I get those were great eras but I think that too is reflective of how Lana has maybe out grown some of the fans she retained from those albums, but you guys are still here and I think that's lovely. You don't have to like everything an artist does surely and to critique it is quite fun sometimes too I can say for myself I hardly revisit COCC and when I do it's the same tracks (WAH, WD, DBJAG) but I think it gets a bad rep, or the people who dislike it are very vocal because I think it's 50/50 split in the fanbase and you either love it or hate it. I'm going to try and make a more conscious effort to stream it and listen to those songs because I really think the album will get better with time and fans will grow to appreciate it more ala Honeymoon. BUT I did absolutely loved BB and still frequent it these days, I think it's showcased some of her most delicate and transparent lyrical moments of her career and I am so grateful she decided to share those songs. Title track, WW, BBS, Beautiful, Living Legend, Text Book, Cherry Blossom...all immaculate beautiful tracks with so much emotion and heart in them. It's not fair this album gets critiqued quite a bit for having youtube rip leaks like it's not fair someone leaked all of her material and she really loved those songs and so do we so I am happy they were attached to a project that I felt was rather cohesive and really was like she was telling a story with the track list and it's like UV's more hopeful sister in a way. Just my random thoughts. Lana is an amazing songwriter and she has been doing this for so long! I trust and more importantly respect her artistic vision and decisions. I will always be a listener.

BoZ said two somewhat contradicting statements (not in a bad way, but in a way that makes me very curious about the album) to me about the album that i'm looking forward to being resolved; 1. There's something on the album for everyone 2. To really appreciate this album, you have to let go of Lana's old style and realize that she's changed as an artist and is going in different directions I think these statements contradict each other because if there's something on it for everyone, I would assume there would at least be a track or two that echoes her older style; but he also insinuates that this album is a deeper exploration of her post LFL soundscape and lyricism. He also said this album is nothing like LFL, so that also adds to the fact I don't think there will be any "bangers." I don't think there will be too many BB piano ballads, but I still think this will be another polarizing record in the fanbase

So I was reading the comments on YouTube under the video of Lana's new single and I found this beautiful interpretation of the song. I also relate to this heavy at the moment, and it's crazy how every time Lana drops a new song/album I feel like we are going through the EXACT same thing. Like we are on the same path. That's why I love her so much and connect to her music, because I relate to her on a crazy level - I get her. Only thing I would change about this paragraph is "mommy" issues, not daddy issues (or maybe both in a way?) Also I didn't write this comment, so I'm not saying this IS the meaning behind the lyrics, but it does make a lot of sense and my mind could never come up with something like this. . . . .

I don't think Lana's issue with Lorde was mainly that she "copied" her or whatever it was more about the fact that she stated that her music was a bad influence She also shaded a lot of other artists just as she blew up. She has always been an annoying pretentious person

i completely agree with this. giving up on months of memories and discussions for a song just to save it for that one time full album listening experience is not worth it imo. she clearly intends for something to be heard before the album if she releases it herself in advance. i manage to grow deeper connections with a song and can appreciate it more when it's the only thing grabbing my attention. it doesn't get lost when you have like a dozen other songs competing for your time. especially when some of those songs will likely to be better than the single. attention spans are short af nowadays and there's a plethora of music to be discovered so it is likely that someone will end up not having that quality time with the single(s) if they don't end up listening to it in advance. but anyways that's just me - i greatly enjoy listening to stuff before the album. it hypes me up, gives me an indication of what the album will be about and sound like, and it might also be my only chance to grow to love those songs if i end up thinking there's so many better tracks on the album down the line. i want to spend as much time with the singles as i can as lana intends you to do so before the record. her music deserves that kind of effort and attention.

I completely understand and respect everyone has their own approach to this, but I never understood the appeal of not listening to singles. To me, singles are a way of really giving attention and thought to one single track, which perhaps would not stick out that much during a listen to the full album. For example, I really enjoyed to have some "quality time" with the TG/FIILY double single or the TB/BB/WFWF trio, fully exploring their sound before hearing them in the context of the album.

It's also ok to admit that you like a certain album by an artist, even though you're not a fan of their entire body of work. Like, I'm not a Marina stan, but I love her album Froot a lot. So I'm not gonna force myself to like her other stuff, nor am I gonna go to Marina forums and be annoying saying she should make Froot 2.0 Unfortunately I think that happens a lot on Lana forums, some people just really like UV, not Lana herself.
