When you switch on the news at six Do you believe what they say? Rock and roll heavy metal baby Like a broken record, it's all the same And sadly I'm mad I want you to take me tonight In blood diamond, blue velvet nights Jupiter rising, dawn past daylight Hollywood Jesus my own faux comfort Crying in your arms when I'm hurt I have ten million questions With no ease by your divine interventions I want to fly Beyond the veil where angels glide I want to understand Is there peace on the other side Is there peace on the other side When you switch on the news at six Do you believe what they say? Hollywood starlet overboard It's crazy they say And sadly i'm mad I want you to take me tonight In blood diamond, blue velvet nights Jupiter rising, dawn past daylight Hollywood Jesus my own faux comfort Crying in your arms when I'm hurt I have ten million questions With no ease by your divine interventions I want to fly Beyond the veil where angels glide I want to understand Is there peace on the other side Is there peace on the other side I can feel it coming in the air tonight See you walking on that blue Pacific I can see you bathing in the summer light Glimmering down it's almost mythic You got game boy You got game boy You got game boy When you switch on the news at six Do you believe what they say?

Can I also say that the best and the coolest she has ever looked was the Ultraviolence era. The aesthetics were unmatched. She was the coolest person in the universe. OMG.

I cannot believe its been 10 years... The album still feels so fresh. Ultraviolence is truly a timeless album, the soundscape is still so innovative, no one will ever make something like this that even compares! I remember playing this for the first time alone in my room at night and just being blown away like I could not believe what I was hearing, it was perfect! I hadn't heard any leaks or anything cause I wasn't part of any online fan spaces at the time, but my bestie and I dieeed and we still talk about loving this album to this day. Thank you so much Lana and happy 10 year anniversary to Ultraviolence!

inb4 the album cover is a polaroid of her leaning on a rusted truck parked at a gas station in the desert and behind her is a broken-down billboard that says "Lasso"

I don’t think Lasso will be released in September, but I’m going to need video evidence before I believe some of these fans.

happy 10th birthday to the very first LDR album i got to listen to on release day. crazy how time flies so fast. i’ll never forget hearing west coast for the first time. if it wasnt for listening to this album, at the ripe age of 12, i wouldn’t be the same person today. it really changed my life in so many ways and i’ll forever be grateful that this was my gateway into Lana’s music and really, my gateway into all different genres of music that i hadnt explored before. without Ultraviolence, I don’t think I would have even considered taking up writing as a hobby, let alone my one true passion. it showed me that music can do much more than just sound pretty. it can show you colors you’ve never seen, sounds you’ve never heard, and words you might be too embarrassed to confess yourself. music can change the world overnight, and that’s exactly what Ultraviolence did for me. happy 10th, Ultraviolence. i hope you know just how much we all love you.

I’ll never forget the utter shock I felt when I listened to the album for the first time, how raw it seemed to be but on a strange level I wasn’t sure if she was being serious or had added flavor for dramatic effect. How hurt she was, or had been. “Jim raised me up, he hurt me but it felt like true love” like what?? Gurl?? You okay? I loved it from the very beginning. I remember needing a few listens to realize that the album version of Black Beauty was superior to the demo which had leaked earlier - I was just so used to it, haha. Happy 10 years, Ultra.

why does this read like a rupauls drag race runway critique? 'Your third track, “Chihiro,” I looked it up, it’s the character’s name from Spirited Away and in Japanese it means “a thousand questions.” But when I listened to the album, I wasn’t left with a thousand questions. I got most of who you are through it, and the only pieces that I didn’t get are what you’re going to tell me' but work because ghibli films are some of my favourite films

Happy Birthday Ultraviolence!!! I wish I was a fan during this era, I came a bit late to it in 2017 lol but I was so amazed by the music videos and Sad Girl and Old Money were stuck in my head for so long after listening to the album The music videos and outtakes for this era are some of her best imo, I mean Pink Champagne, Madly, Cult Leader, Earthquakes, Dragonslayer, etc. If she ever made another album similar to Ultraviolence I would be so happy lol

In shock it’s been 10 years, I remember the day clearly. It was hot, I bought a blue hydrangea and drank Jack Daniels’s whilst I played the record in my parents back yard.

This album found me in a very dark time in my life. In May 2014 I entered this kind of fugue state. Everyone’s faces began to blur into obscurity, voices dissolved into indistinguishable static, every step I walked felt like a weightless drift, and the days blurred into a seamless continuum. It felt like my insides had been hollowed out, and the thought of taking my own life became a relentless reverberation in my mind. I was only 18 years old and in my first year of uni, and I had to be brought back home. I still remember the freezing winter evening when UV leaked on Tumblr. I was babysitting and had just tucked the kids into bed, leaving me alone in the living room with nothing but the warmth of a crackling fire. How special it was to be able to sit in that kind of serene stillness while listening to this album for the first time. My mental health nonetheless worsened and I was admitted into an inpatient mental health facility. UV was my salvation in there. At the risk of sounding parasocial, it felt as if the album was crafted just for me, particularly Black Beauty. "Darling, you can't let everything seem so dark blue." I'll never forget sitting in the art room for hours on end, creating mosaics and listening to the songs over and over. But things did get better. And here I am, 10 years later. I’m engaged, pursuing my postgrad in psychology, and on a meticulously crafted cocktail of meds lmao. And I truly am so happy now. The magnificence of the sun and the ocean blue finally make sense to me. Happy 10th birthday Ultraviolence, thank you so much for being there for me.
