So I was just chatting with a friend and we got to thinking that we thought - Maybe RCS is going to be sexually explicit in the sense that it's her trying to prove her point from QftC about other female artists being able to get away with singing songs about fucking, etc. The popsicle pics + the boobs pic + that little tidbit in her latest interview about scoring points in the bedroom point to this in a subtle way. The title itself sounds very sweet and sugary but it also has some explicit connotations. It's definitely not literal.

I really need Lana to collaborate with David LaChapelle - i believe he will do RCS concept justice. Looking back FLAUNT Magazine photoshoot - i can really feel the RCS vibe

I still don’t know why people act like the Pepsi cola pussy line is so shocking or controversial like, that’s nothing

violins and cellos are what are missing on lana's songs along with some electric guitar, and a better balance between the instrumentals and her voice

I like the more cheeky and subtle explicit songs. Something that isn't obviously sexual but hidden under metaphors and shit.

I don't really like explicit songs. Unless it's for creating a certain effect as she did in Cola. Lana have tons of sexual songs without driving the explicit path, Stargirl for example. I want something so sexual and erotic that it seems like a fever dream. The tension is there, but it's all blurred and you have to complete with your imagination

i think lana has taken her time, somewhat, COCC was ready for release last summer- she had 16 weeks of forced postponing i'm sure these songs have aged for her while she's been working i dont think a release schedule intended to have been AUG2019-SEP2020-JUNE2021 without covid would look crazy even though AUG2019-MARCH2021-JUNE2021 does

This is what throws me off a bit, because in November she said she’s working on 2 albums (which would’ve been after Chemtrails was already done), and of course, knowing Lana, she’s always writing. But then on January 11, she said to Annie Mac, “I don’t have 4 songs that I love for the next album” and then literally the next day, said in an IGTV video, “I already know what I’m doing” and now, as of 12 days ago, has a new album ready for June. So I wonder if she had a sudden burst of inspiration and laid pretty much the bulk of RCS down in a short period of time (much like how a good third of Ultraviolence was written in November/December 2013).

i would literally pay lana to work with david lachapelle for this album, the shoot they did together is one of my favorite shoots she's ever done. this would be such a cool concept for RCS

I really think she purposely watched what she said during Anne’s interview, and what she said shouldn’t be taken at face value. She said in November she was working on two albums so obviously she had a handful of songs she loved for two albums, and she probably didn’t want to talk about it in her interview with Anne because she was there to talk about her first big single and new album, which was still over a month away. Ive always said, I think when she was taking about not having the 4 songs she loved, she meant during the creating of Chemtrails. She never saw Chemtrails as a finished album and waited months to submit it, incase she could ‘finish’ it. Of course she wasn’t going to have 4 next songs, she didn’t even feel like Chemtrails was finished yet she started recording with Zach at the absolute earliest in November, because she posted that video of her singing the hymn Joe Biden quoted, and her post said ‘taking a break from recording’. In that same time frame she tweeted a rock, and that she was working on two albums. My only fear is this is another May 2020 scenario where she feels almost finished enough to announce RCS, but she might not actually be finished yet and might hit a road block that’s going to effect when it comes out. plus I still think the label is going to be hesitant to release a new album so soon after her latest album pulled awesome numbers

While I 100% agree that Hope is a Dangerous Thing is her best song (for so many reasons), the rest of the list is... quite questionable x

??? like I’m sayin, girls have been making raunchy songs about sex, and yes, pussy for literally ever. I think it’s cause her image made her be perceived as very delicate and feminine, so when she curses or says something remotely suggestive people are like shocked lol. And her gay ass fans yassss queen her to death and act like it’s cute and edgy

I imagine "Im so sweet... but you know I like to rock" "You call me candyyyyyy when im sweet" like right out of her lizzy days. I have a similar feeling she is going to be fun and flirty but I feel like being fully EXPLICIT isnt her style, atleast I just wouldnt expect it. Edit: Actually I could imagine it with everything that is happened.. we will see.

The line in Wanderlust that says “you talk to god like I do, I think you know the same secrets that I do” really reminds me of that “I’d rather know what god knows” part in Pawn Shop. She really was just listening to a bunch of her unreleased to get inspired LOL

I Don’t Wanna Go (Tonight), ITTJ, Wild One (maybe Thunder as closer and RBFY as intro???) are what I‘m envisioning for and need from this record

This pre-release will get even more painful in may... I can imagine she won't do anything until then and we'll end up with 500 pages of speculations on the album's sound and vinyl colours

Same, like damn...people chile I hate how so many youtube reactions always say "ew" or "that's gross" on that cola lyric. Meanwhile people praise WAP and it's repulsive lyrics. pls. I really hope Lana drags this type of bs on RCS.

It's also important to keep in mind that Best doesn't always been Favourite. So, you sort of need to look at the list objectively. But pretty much since Hope's release, I've acknowledged that it is technically her best song. That doesn't mean it's necessarily my favourite (it's in my top 20 though) but there's so many elements of the song that really make it a true masterpiece, and nothing less. It's her best song lyrically - hands down, no contest. Her vocals are incredible. She perfectly executes beautiful high & low notes that display her range. Not many artists can do this in the way she does. The melody is just beautiful and simple enough for anyone to digest, yet not too simple that its boring or forgettable. The production complements the song just perfectly. I know the production is a reason why some people don't like the song as it comes off a bit too simple or "boring" for some, but the song speaks such volumes on its own - it could have been an acapella track and been just as powerful. For this track, the production enhances rather than defines the song, and that's a true tell sign of a masterpiece song. A heavier production would have just drowned it and took away from its delicacy and specialness. The song is incredibly emotive. I'm a strong believer that those who don't like hope just haven't been in the situation the song is about. Once you've been in that place - feeling like you've gone crazy and that all hope you had for the world has slipped like sand through your fingers, all the way to the point where you're no longer building a house out of that sand anymore but a house out of rediscovered hope - you understand this song. You become a part of it. I intend to write like a whole essay-post on why this song is her best one day and post it in the Hope thread or something, but for now, those are my brief thoughts x

btd her struggle. paradise. her fame. uv her rage. hm her protection. lfl her bridge. nfr her love. cocc her freedom. so what do people usually do when they're free? like i could easily just say RCS (sweet) her revenge. this revenge gives me side quest vibes. but what do people usually do after their freedom? is it purpose? is she going to focus more on her purpose? that's my guess atm.

this one u mean? Yasss it serves the americana vibes. Even though I already love the NFR official cover by Chuck, but I really wish David LaChapelle was the one who in charge with the art direction for this era, and COTCC as well.

Thats fair, and for someone like lana, I generally think that’s the way to go. Like someone said, Religion is lowkey filthy but you’d never know unless you got it. I think it’s just cause I’m a hip hop fan, so I’m used to more explicit/sexual shit lol. Even reading about the controversy surrounding cola and Lana’s “persona” as a whole has always been pretty ridiculous to me. Like, those critics wouldn’t last five minutes in a room with Trina.

honestly I hope this thread stays underwhelming till the end of May, I want our god momma to get herself ORGANIZED, the music to be FIRE SEXY GODDES BITCH GLITTER FUCK OFF ENERGY, I want her covers/photos to be iconic & planned or at least like a sexy selfie, somewhat thought out instead of just group photo I want her to have cryptic captions like her tweets from 2014, I want the nails to be done, paparazzi pictures to become better in her style sense (no more tights and sweatshirt like she dragged her depressed ass out of the bed), I hope she feels powerful & healthy/inspired, if she is single now, I hope she's getting big rock candy sweet d!ck! cuz she deserves!!!!! okay im done with my crackhead energy rant. its just tha way I feel. *smokes parliament*

ultraviolence is her sexiest music video. the finger sucking, the orange eating and the wedding dress *chefs kiss* it's also very eerie too like she just got married but she escaped with this man who took her out to the woods and he's filming all these close up shots of her cause he admires her beauty. i think the video we got fits the song better than the scrapped freak video, the beginning of the songs just sounds like a tragic off-key wedding tune.

Maybe we will get her version of Erotica by Madonna?? That would be hot. RCS is already giving me strong Madonna vibes (Hard Candy). Her behavior this past year has also reminded me a lot of early 90s Madonna and Courtney Love. Those women were never afraid to be sexual and outspoken about it when it was still considered more “taboo” in those times. They all knew how to keep things interesting and still make good music. I’m here for it tbh!!
