24 likesManifesting lana bringing lana lyrics back no more sitting in the garden watching summer fade away and being blue in a car. We need the violets in between her tights, tangerine dreams and deadly nightshades. If i wanted to hear about boring shit, i would be listening to someone else. I wish nfr never happened cuz it made her realize that critics want boring watered down shit

19 likesI don't know what you expect from her sometimes, it's not like she's gonna write a long political paragraph, it's just a rhymed song. And Marina unfortunately is not a poet, so she just puts all the thoughts rather randomly, the same way she did with Teen Idle which is a fan favourite.

MARINA (and The Diamonds)
lover and 18 others liked a post in a topic by Ultra Violet
I think the SJW energy is done far better than any other artist I can think of rn. And I'm glad she chooses to express it in her music rather than posting statuses on social media that she thinks will sound woke but just sound completely problematic. Marina holds herself well and I'm glad she isn't censoring herself. I really admire her for that. She gives me Shirley Manson (from Garbage) energy sometimes! -

16 likesI don't mind her lyrics on the past two albums, in fact, I was positively surprised and genuinely glad to hear that they were better on Norman than LFL, but I kind of agree with you. I don't mean that her lyrics are bad, they're far from that, but she's been describing and singing about ordinary life in most songs and left that little bit of mystery she used to have in her older albums. Except for, like, Tulsa Jesus Freak which is kinda freaky in a sense. But I, too, wish to hear lyrics that make me think; me and god, we don't get along? they judge me like a picture book? lies can buy eternity? life rocked me like Mötley? etc etc I miss her world building in a sense, I guess. Lyrics like "back to work or the coffee shop", "we laugh about nothing", they are sweet, and I'm so glad Lana has found a better life for herself (if she is genuine about the things she's been singing about lately). So what I really want for this album is some interesting, clever lyrics and less about everyday life... not saying it's exactly bad , but I like to dream away when I listen to her songs. I think she's really good at that too, to describe worlds and situations and feelings.

15 likesI’ve been listening to Holocene (Zella Day and Weyes Blood) a lot lately and I realllllllly wish Lana would come out with a song like that, production-wise. I love the psychedelic early 70s vibe, and their voices. Lana would sound lovely on a track like that. Or, alternatively, just give us songs like Shades of Cool! Manifesting.
-
15 likesnot manifesting this but- Blue Banisters feels like a poem to me. it makes me think of a kid sitting near the top of a staircase looking/listening through the banisters feeling sad and trapped while her parents are fighting downstairs. evokes a sense of imprisonment like behind the iron gates. hope it's a sexy song instead though of course

14 likesHearing Lana sing so earnestly about her suburban housewife fantasy is actually quite amusing. There's absolutely nothing wrong or surprising about it. Lana is a 35 year old woman after all. It's not her fault that one portion of her ''fan'' base is still stuck in 2012 and want her to sing about boarding schools and Lolita bullshit, while the other want her to become another Dua Lipa. Those ''fans'' need to move on.

14 likesLana obviously loved Bowie along with all the other greats like Lou Reed, Stevie, etc... but can we get something inspired by Bowie on this album? Like not just lyrically but like in terms of sound...? Please? If you're gonna do a stripped back album PLEASE do something similar to Hunky Dory or something!!!!!! it'd be lovely if she did something like the guitars on Man Who Sold The World particularly The Width of A Circle (speaking of which that's getting a whole ass release so I need to add that to my "to buy" list to go along with my Metrobolist vinyl) idk i just want something entirely different again. cocc felt like the little sister of NFR, almost too little... too little in the sense that it wasn't 1000% finished cooking entirely. like it could've used something extra on over half of the songs. it's a great album i like it, and i'm glad she's ready to put more music out there but i need to hear something that's more.... rock inspired or prog inspired, come on Jack you have the capabilities to use mellotron USE IT FOR FUCK SAKE sorry guys i just needed to talk out my thoughts

Charli XCX
Syyydney and 12 others liked a post in a topic by Hundred Dollar Bill
we got enough leaks to last us the year! hopefully the fanbase behaves & lets Charli deliver the new era on her own terms. -
13 likesI actually think that COCC is the most Lana song since L4L. The lyrics are simple, the melody is gorgeous, but it still has some kind of mystery in it. One of my favorite things about Lana's lyrics was that they were apparently quite direct and simple, but if you asked 10 people what was the meaning of the song, you would get 10 different answers. I miss the uncertainty. Now everything is quite clear, maybe even shallow and this makes everything unsettling and kinda boring

12 likesShe can delay this album till 2022 if it means she will rework it with Mike Dean. If its by jack, i dont want it. Ever btw it looks like we r getting another unfinished album full of scraps with iphone promo photos... she needs to get a break and come up with a decent era and different sound. Feels like we r in a one endless era since 2018

12 likesUgh I'd love a Hunky Dory inspired sound from Lana, it's my favorite Bowie album <3 Also I'm honestly really sad about the musical direction Lana has been heading. Not to be like "I hate Jack" but he just doesn't do Lana justice. Usually the instrumentation matches her vocals and her voice sounds like part of the instrumental, but lately (aka Norman & Chemtrails) it feels like her vocals and the instruments are totally separate. Idk if I'm making sense bc I'm drunk, but my point is that her music isn't an escape anymore. The magic, the ethereal atmosphere, is gone. It's just a voice over some toned down instruments. I can handle two dull albums, but even though I don't want to, I might have to unstan if RCS follows the same musical direction as Norman & Chemtrails ://

12 likesPlease can we make a collective effort not to respond to a certain troll on here. I find it funny that they think they're an intellectual who alone can understand the artistry and complexity of his production. Everyone who disagrees has objectively 'bad taste'. I enjoy Jack's work with her but oh my god the lack of self awareness. I'll take 'terrible drum loops' and 'shitty, melodramatic strings and synths' any day over Lana quietly whispering into a microphone while Jack plays the same three chords somewhere in the background on the world's tiniest piano. No matter how many times you defend him, he's still not going to fuck you.

11 likesHonestly, I don't see so much difference between BTD and some songs that she was working on before that. It obviously had a bigger production and it was polished, but the spirit stays the same. She fought for UV at the time, her label didn't wanted it. The final sound is clearly a result of Dan's work, but it still Lana's. For me she's way more mainstream and accessible now (my grandmother loves NFR, for example). You can't say that COCC isn't, but it is. Taylor just won AOTY with Folklore. With the pandemic, people started to get more interest in a organic, more folkish and human kind of music. Obviously she won't make BTD.2 again, but I don't see any problem with UV.2 (not lyrically, but sound wise). I think that her influences and vision had changed. That's why we're getting what we're getting
-
11 likesAgain, I don't exactly mind that because A) it's a small glimpse into her current mindset and life, B) she delivers the lyrics so beautifully lol, and C) it paints a beautiful picture in a sense "washing my hair, doing the laundy, late night TV, I want you, honey". But then again, yeeeaaahhh, it's nothing too special. But maybe it doesn't have to. It fits the feeling of the song pretty well in my opinion.
-
11 likesI'm so here for the unapologetic feminine energy. I think the title track is going to be so special and hope it sends me into another realm.

11 likesthus far i am absolutely loving the music and visuals, it feels like it takes bits and pieces of her first three albums to create something new and it just feels so...marina dont mean to get personal on the music forums but i havent felt like this for a while about an artist's new music release, its not the same as it used to be in middle and high school but, its nice to feel excitement for something again instead of going through life without anything to look forward to, which in turn causes other issues of not wanting to exist or whatever. even if its just temporary its a nice feeling. obviously marina (and other artists) dont owe me anything, but i really do appreciate the fact they share their work for us to enjoy, analyze, and connect to.

10 likesDance till we die has to have some of her most nauseating lyrics I don’t think I have ever rolled my eyes harder than I do when she sings “troubled by my circumstance burdened by the weight of fame” I really hope she gets out of singing about how difficult it is to be famous soon - but I unfortunately think the next album will, at least thematically, be the same except from an even stronger victim mindset since she feels everyone is out to get her
-
10 likesAre you talking about Lana or marina? And no I'm not kidding, I guess I just never notice. "There's no good way to do it"? I guess people should never ever talk about what's wrong in the world then. Got it! Edit: maybe I just never notice cause it doesn't get the attention that Lana gets when she tries to do that. But anyway I truly think that as long as your sjw actions are selfless and not just virtue-signalling or trying to prove you're not xyz, then it's fine. I think Marina is doing good and I'm glad she's singing about it.

10 likesI like that Lana is elegant both in her sound and in the way she expresses herself, also the way she represents that elegance on the cover of her albums (Norman and Chemtrails) but I honestly need/want BTD and UV's "Lana Del Rey", Honeymoon, NFR and COCC are certainly amazing albums but I think we all agree that, even though those are her best worked albums objectively, ultraviolence and BTD have that iconic thing that we all want back, glamour, lipstick, videos, outfits, that bad bitch behavior. After QFTC and the publication where she revealed RCS, I really hope that album will be upbeat with that hip/hop and rock sound from her first two albums. It can be clarified that because an album is commercial does not mean that it is bad... Imagine Lana doing a future nostalgia or something like melodrama but in her own way or maybe she could surprise us with something better.

9 likesI think being famous is indeed hard and isolating, but i also don’t feel bad for her or anyone else at the end of the day. Being a musician does not look like hard work lol. And specifically Lana, she gets to work completely at her own pace while she travels the world and parties in LA, so like, girl stop whining lmfao.

9 likesThe Nicki Minaj and Charli are ICONIC moments in Marina’s career they are the farthest thing from cringe the one about being a millionaire is bad but it’s not “woke” or “SJW” it’s just dumb her bragging and what’s wrong with that??? the mentally ill one is bad but we all know what she meant let’s not pretend she was saying some out of this world shit Like these are MASSIVE reaches
-
9 likesIt's nothing "problematic" as far as I remember. But her takes on mental health, anti-capitalism etc. tend to be worde in such a dramatic way that are located somewhere between "woke rich white macha mom" and "pretentious 14yo tumblr teen". It's not the essence of her messages, it's the "I'm so holy and wise" way they tend to come off. Absolutely! I love the visuals and I really love how there are peaks of her previous works in all of this.
