Well everyone… the time has come. Welcome to the LDR9 Pre-Pre-Release Thread - Annual Discussion & Meltdown! Lana Del Rey has revealed to W Magazine that a new, still untitled album is in the works. "I’ve been practicing meditative automatic singing, where I don’t filter anything. I’ll just sing whatever comes to mind into my Voice Notes app. It’s not perfect, obviously. There are pauses, and I stumble. But I’ve been sending those really raw-sounding files to a composer, Drew Erickson, and he’ll add an orchestra beneath the words, matching each syllable with music and adding reverb to my voice. For this new music, it’s more just like: I’m angry. The songs are very conversational. For the first song, I pressed record and sang, “When I look back, tracing fingertips over plastic bags, I think I wish I could extrapolate some small intention or maybe get your attention for a minute or two.” It’s a very wordy album." What we know so far: - Lana will make an announcement about the album on December 7th, as stated in an Interview on November 30th, 2022 - Lana is working on an untitled album with a completed opening track, confirmed in her interview with W Magazine in May 2022 - Lana is collaborating with composer Drew Erickson, confirmed in her interview with W Magazine in May 2022 Speculations - Neil Krug & Anna Cofone may have involvement with the album photoshoot, as hinted in various Instagram posts, stories, and comments made by the three in December 2022 - Jack Antonoff worked with Lana on a song completed in April 2022 that could be on her record, as stated in his interview with The New Yorker in May 2022 - There is a possible collaboration with Jon Batiste, as Lana shared a video in a studio with him as a song snippet played on @honeymoon in August 2022 - Ian Kirkpatrick may be involved with the production, speculated after Lana shared a picture of a video call with him on her IG stories in September 2022 - Her father may be involved with the record as he shared photos in Jack Antonoff's studio in March 2022 - The record may be a digital-only release, per her statement during an Instagram Livestream in October 2021 - Lana wore a custom-made jacket by the director of LDR Village with a patch that said "DNC" that may pertain to the record in December 2021

This is tooo good she seems in such a good place recently. And the fact the shoot is at the National Anthem music video location… she’s been so immersed in her past lately. Returning to NY, shooting at national anthem location, singing God Knows I Tried at the Ultraviolence church, multiple mentions of honeymoon, singing young & beautiful and dancing to summertime sadness. Reuniting with Anna and Pam. She says she can only write when she’s happy so I’m sure she’s blackening those pages rn! Can’t wait to pick this up, such a great cover and shoot

You can say a lot of shit about Jack Antonoff, but he does have his finger on the pulse of his best music with Lana. He said The Greatest is the best song on NFR and White Dress is one of their best songs, and he was..not wrong. I trust him about this new track being on the same level.

I get the feeling she's been very inspired by Honeymoon lately. The last post on her main was from the HBTB music video, she returned on her Honeymoon account, she sang God Knows I've Tried in Italy (she did also sing BTD songs, but only with fans, this was the one time we know of where she chose one song to sing of her own accord), and she mentioned Honeymoon several times in the W Mag interview. Not sure what this means/how it relates to her new sound or lyrics, but those are my thoughts.

A wordy and angry album with the aesthetic of the W magazine shoot would be right up my alley tbh

Even if it's still untitled she's refering to it as an album already instead of talking about "a collection of songs she has so far" so it's probably coming this year right? Maybe not in the summer but I can see it coming in the fall

Dreaming in No Color ???? ….a play on the phrase “dreaming in technicolor” which normally denotes being wildly unrealistic. We’ve even seen her toy with this concept before in Get Free: “There’s no more chasing rainbows/ And hoping for an end to them/ Their arches are illusions/ Solid at first glance.” just an unrealistic guess lol

This interview actually made me emotional. Her talking about saying goodbye, thank you at the end of an album and then how she comes back to writing more? Tears in my eyes. Also, these photos? Serve of the decade at a minimum.

I feel like Lana’s team smartened up when it comes to info being spilled. Insiders didn’t even hear BBS until the rest of us did, it’s possible her team is keeping the whole album locked up better than they usually do

This is the saddest part of the interview for me tbh. I know she talked about having writers block after LFL and before Norman but it’s so sad she still seems to be in that place

She looks incredible This shoot is the definition of glamour, every picture is stunning. I honestly get a Marilyn vibe from some of the pictures. And her smile is just so beautiful. The interview was super insightful as well, I was honestly shocked that she referenced Honeymoon not once, but twice (even if it was just to compare her lyrics then to her lyrics now) This has been such a good month to be a Lana fan

Not to rehash people’s qualms with leaked songs being on records, but the W Mag shoot is, like, a perfect visual embodiment of what a finalized, polished version of Fine China would sound like 🖤🤍

so far, this album is giving me bartender, fine china, religion, & talking like an answering machine vibes (i know it hasn’t leaked but it feels correct) with a breezy, honeymoon-esque atmosphere, & the luscious darkness of paradise

I kinda feel like she has a title but she didn't want to reveal it yet. She always has a title early in the process and it's often the first thing she reveals about the next record so it's weird. Maybe they didn't even ask and they said it was untitled cause Lana hasn't announced it yet and they couldn't find it

i feel like honeymoon's production, if lyrical content, must influence this album as she seems to be thinking about that album a lot recently. and i'm really excited about this meditative automatic singing and writing style - i just know she's going to whisk us away
