11 likesEvery time I start listening to a single track from this album I end up listening to the whole thing. Idk if it's a popular opinion or not on here but idc cause for me it has really become Lana's best work to date. I cannot put into words how much I adore this incredible record, it's literally perfect, zero skips, no comments, I'm just in awe of this piece of art

10 likesBreaking my silence simply to say, all you 16 year olds will never understand the impact of Lanaâs artistry in early 2010s, before you were even in grade school. The only âproblematicâ thing about the Ride video and Lanaâs early career in general is the headdress thing, but everything else, she was a nearly 30 year old woman perfectly capable of making her own decisions and she had a very strong vision for her art, which everyone absolutely ate up at the time. Obviously Lana still has insane impact, but it was different and a different kind of it 10+ years ago. She was just putting her truth into her music and visuals, while obviously slightly embellishing things in the name of creating an immersive world, just because something from over a decade ago makes you uncomfortable, that doesnât mean any of your criticism of it is valid. Lana Del Rey wouldnât be Lana Del Rey without the artist she was back then, and you sound exactly like what the gross journalists sounded like back then. The boomerfication of Gen Z and weird rise in purity culture is so real, no high school aged people should be speaking on how Lana approached her career before they could count to 100 unless theyâve made a conscious effort to understand her. If âgrotesqueâ art from grown ass women bothers you then i donât think Lana is the artist for you

9 likesI think her old songwriting (2018 and before) is far better than her current songwriting and it's somewhat frustrating that people are lauding her as a songwriting genius for her current work because honestly shit like BTD, UV and Honeymoon were actual fucking genius whereas I feel like a lot of the current diary-entry lyrics and automatic writing or whatever could be written by pretty much anyone and is only interesting because of the vivid world she created throughout the previous eras mentioned so people place it in that context and act like it's genius when to me it's more like margin notes

9 likesshe has songs about men liking little girls and beating her, being addicted to drugs, and playing out an other woman fantasy, yet we are drawing the ethical line at an old man brushing her hair. i pray you all had this same energy about that old ass man in the shades of cool and west coast music video at least lmao

Unpopular Lana Opinions

idk i doubt it was a self-doubt thing, i think she was just angry at the public/her peers misinterpretation of what she wrote. i don't like the narrative that under every person's (especially women) anger there's some sort of like underlying insecurity that they need to work on to "improve" their anger. when people feel wronged they're entitled to feel angry and defend themselves as much as they want imo -
8 likesI think she's just testing the waters with the festivals to see if she truly enjoys the stage again or if it was just a bit of nostalgia from singing in bars with Nikki She's probably way more comfortable on her own shows than in huge festivals but it's easier to just get booked and go than to plan a whole tour for herself with all the expenses and scheduling. And if she decides to do a tour later she would already have a setlist, some stage design and the habit of doing shows again And I agree with what @American Bore said, we'll probably get a feeling about her plans with the first few performances. She started doing "choreography" (or tried to ) with the dancers on festivals and she used that on her own tour later so we'll see I'm so excited I hope we get some nice recordings from the shows

The X Trilogy

okay so as you can tell by my profile pic i'm a big fan of the X triology lol, X reminded me so much of Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is one of my favorite movies and Pearl reminded me so much of a Hollywood tragedy that we all can relate to, or at least i can (if you exclude the murders lol), dreaming of leaving your small town and hoping to do bigger things then your parents, it kinda reminded me of that girl who jumped from the H, the cinematography it's so good too i think Ti West is amazing and, of course, Mia Goth is out of this world i truly believe she's Oscar material ANYWAYS im super excited for Maxxxine and the first movie still just dropped i actually saw a bts of this scene being filmed in the last two weeks i think, there are tons on tiktok, this made me super excited i have big expectations -

it is a bit uncomfortable and i honestly don't even care for that music video that much, but it's really not that big of a deal, like @Party Favor said, she has explored way more darker topics, including drugs, domestic abuse, and pedophilia, but we all understand that she's not romanticizing or promoting such topics also, i just don't really get why we're still bringing up the fact that she wore a headdress, it was 11 years ago and although it was still insensitive, it was a different time, and, again, it was over a decade ago, she has donated large amounts of money to native american organizations, we know she wouldn't do this today, so why does it even matter? we as people will have such a difficult time consuming and enjoying art if we couldn't handle things that might bother us or might be controversial, especially if the piece of art, or movie, or song, is decades old and representative of the period of time it was made, if lana always played it safe, she probably wouldn't be known at all -

6 likesAnother Anne, popular here. Anne is giving Bridgette Bardot - she's never done it! Her looks were always constrained by designers . . . Previous Anne Hathaway red carpets. Changing this post to be positive on Anne's previous looks. And I think Met Gala 2023 is the best! This at first I wanted to be funny and said harsh critiques, but now that I scroll through, they are not bad. I was phony, trying to be slick. That's not a good look for me. I will try to be normal! And Anne's red carpet looks don't look bad, now that I scroll through. Anne is just so thin the heavy fabric falls off of her in places. But, the dresses are not vulgar! Previous Anne Hathaway red carpet looks - what do you think? The above, with only one dangling earring, shows some playfulness . . . So the conclusion is from an oldster who was disappointed in every Anne Hathaway red carpet, who is an actress who can act, is beautiful, appears nice, is I am proud of last night's Met Gala look with the Lana-style glamourous Bridget Bardot hair, and flattering dress.

5 likesit WAS a big deal back then lmao but a few seconds of that will never erase the iconicness of ride mv edit: it wasn't bigger only because cancel culture on twitter wasn't a thing yet but exposed tumblr blogs and pages kinda were and the headdress thing only added to her "problematic doings" list that people always loved to bring up I wish they just never had the idea but it is what it is

5 likesI've been listening to the album non-stop and I think I can finally put into words more or less how I feel about it. I'm very much in love with it, I feel like its the culmination of the themes from Chemtrails and Blue Banisters, giving way to a new page. After leaving the California imagery behind post-NFR to get to the Midwest in Chemtrails and Blue Banisters, she's again re-rooting herself into California, with ''Sweet'' kinda giving that book-end to the Midwest period in her life and bringing into the picture her home in the Northeast, in line with the overall theme of family and lineage, her roots. It's interesting to go on a retrospective of her discography and see how the persona falls apart by each album until we can see more of her being herself. I'm very excited for the next record, I suppose she will continue exploring the family themes. Considering her romantic relationships also inspire heavily her music, I wonder if her relationship with Evan, who is also from New York, could bring the East Coast more to the forefront in her imagery. The songs about/with Mike are very much Cali beach, sunny weather and carefree, contrasting those that I assume could be about Jack (Candy Necklace, Kintsugi), which are darker tracks lyric and sound wise. Anyway rant over, I needed to get these thoughts out of my head

5 likesAre we done draggin Marina to the mud? please tell me we are not. im here once again to tell yâall how TFJ to FROOT she was great then sold her ass to LA and wokeness and lost al credibility. For someone who tries so hard to be taken seriously she for sure is CAMP AS HELL⊠those memes, the feminist rants and now the poetry talking about toilets⊠the saddest part is that, like someone above said, sheâs not in the joke. Sheâs givin Katy Perry âwitnessâ era level cringe Also, firing her manager during maternity leave (if thatâs true) is not very females supporting females of her but Iâm sure she will find a way to blame men for that too
