32 likesI would assume she's saying that her threshold for pain is quite high. She's desensitized to being "burned" because her "father never stepped in when his wife would rage at [her]", with rage being the operative word (as "raging" is often used to describe a fire). So things that are actually "hot" in the literal sense (like fire, the weather, and coffee) don't impair her or harm her nearly as much. And then following that, she vows to never be like her mother - the "wildfire" in question, that she vows to never turn into.

31 likesI think Lana's true idea of revenge is forcing the critics to pay attention to the music with those revealing yet poetic lyrics - mark my words she's gonna top NFR! in terms of critical reception and lyrical content just look at how amazing the three songs are! She's gonna blow us out of the water I just know it

Wildflower Wildfire

I had not made that connection (the mother-wildfire one, I mean). It kinda makes sense. And would made the title itself a reference to how terrible the things have been in her eye regarding the relationship to her mother, Lana being the "Wildflower" that "lives on sheer willpower" while her mother being the "Wildfire" she`ll fight at all costs not to become. The song is extremely touching without even having made that connection, but once done... Damn, Lana. -

I just had a thought this morning, listening to BB: thank God Chuck made her pregnancy public, otherwise we would have lost our shit with her silence and the line “there’s a baby on the way” -

18 likesI would adore if Lana ever released a documentary about her life. Her career is just too interesting and curious. From her May Jailer era, to who she has become now. I'm sure she has lived many experiences throughout her life, and while she has talked about it on her songs, it would be interesting to have a more deep insight on her life I would also like to know more about the process of the creation of her music. How does she come up with those ideas, how does she execute them, etc. Her music is so rich and detailed, it'd be so fun

17 likesAfter a few days of listening, I’ve realized how much more I appreciate the singles when I’m able to listen with headphones and without any distractions, taking in every word she’s saying. Because of that, I really think this record will be mostly driven by its lyrics. There’s so much emphasis on her voice, and this seems to complement the autobiographical approach Lana’s taking. This also helps me appreciate the subtleties in the composition so much more. Using WW as an example, the melodies adapt to Lana’s lyrics really well. In the verses, there’s a lot of harshness when she talks about her mother, and the melody resolves to something softer when she mentions ending up awkward but sweet. The buildup in this song is really gorgeous as well, but it may be harder to pinpoint without headphones and close listening. I could seriously see this being her most critically acclaimed album.

17 likesI actually don’t think that’s true - the producer of two of the songs (Gabe Simon) confirmed that the songs were written in October of 2020 and were, in Lana’s mind, the start of a follow-up to Chemtrails. Chemtrails was done being written in February 2020 and was mastered in the summer. I think the natural evolution of the themes is just because Lana’s records are her life-story. Rule of thumb, btw, Twitter is notorious for spreading misinformation like that - I also saw that post you’re referring to

17 likesI would love if Wildflower Wildfire was the opener. It would be so fitting if the opening lines of the whole album were, “Here’s the deal...’cause I know you wanna talk about it.” It’s like her addressing fans and critics simultaneously. Plus, it’s sonically powerful and sets the tone for the fact that this record is Lana telling her own story. And I know the title tracks are always track 1 or 2 (and following our pattern, it should be track 1) but I actually think it would be impactful if she made it the closer. It ends on a hopeful note and is all about how her sisters have helped her heal from all the trauma she’ll likely explore throughout the rest of the album.

17 likesI am so shook, i was away during the pre-release of 3 singles time (what a f emotional rollercoaster) but I did read everything in this thread. That's why many of you have hearts from me. I need to think about these songs but I really love them. I agree that her writing improved since NFR and COCC era and came back to classical Lana. WW is my fav and I almost cried when I heard about her mother this heartbreaking line... Edit: should I move that post to singles thread/topic? I feel lost, where can I talk about these 3 singles?

16 likesI remember when half the forum believed the ‘Yes To Heaven, white hot forever’ snippet lol. Most are bullshit and if a snippet is real we would no straight away, if it’s old it’s usually very obvious.

16 likesYes! I remember how fascinated I was when she used to sing through a piece of paper to create some songs on LFL. Would love to know more about the process, especially because she complained multiple times how the critics write more about her than about her music. And what better way to tell your story if not through a documentary? @Ben I know your are lurking, call Netflix

15 likesI realized that I don't think F*ntano likes the "moaning" type tracks she makes He still has a problem with Ultraviolence to this day, and I know there's been some debate about whether Wildflower is good or not, but that is the closest track we've been to Ultraviolence energy in a long time

15 likesIn terms of songwriting, it's pretty much settled Lana wouldn't go back to the BTD style (not because she's "old" at 35, but because she's in a different state of mind) but production-wise? She's diverse. A lot of LFL songs had that hip hop/trap beats, same as some tracks on NFR and even Tulsa on Chemtrails. I don't see how it's so farfetched to think her working with a producer who's known for that kind of music would result in something similar?

14 likesThat man didn't like anything she put out BTD-Honeymoon and just started to warm up to her during LFL and especially during NFR when critics finally started to praise her. What music critics are already saying about Lana at the time of her releases, is what Fantano repeats. She was shat on consistently by pretentious hipsters and he followed the same suit until LFL/NFR. . I mean...who's really shitting on BTD-Honeymoon besides people who dont actively listen to her? that was her golden age and what made her career with some of the best tracks she's ever put out yet. Sorry I'm on a bit of a rant, but I can't deal w his obvious bandwagoning in her case.

14 likesThat's actually so heartbreaking...Lana is a wildflower that got destroyed by a wildfire aka her mother

14 likesMaybe that was the last straw, you could be right. On the other hand I think she knew she didn't have a chance against Billie, her record was just massive and Billie was / still is one of the most adored singers. Gosh I wish Lana would finally explain her motivation behind BB and how it is connected to her QFTC, critics and so on. Let's manifest a dramatic and revealing interview with Oprah where she outdoes Harry and Meghan.
