But instead of October, you wake up 2 years later only to find out Bb was scrapped last minute and you’re entering another pre-release era

Honeymoon is my personal favourite opener, as it’s just so ominous and entrancing, and immediately brings in this film noir feel with her clear vocals delivering the opening lines, followed by another swelling of strings

And then there was the issue of her I didn't even like myself, or love the life I had And there you were with shinin' stars standin' blue with open arms You touched the detriment most of the friends I knew already had

OMG RIGHT!!! And that's what I am wanting. The way it sets the whole mood. Quite literally, her telling us to prepare ourselves, because she's gonna tell us a story, her story. It's a perfect start. I love that the "new" songs, are all at the middle of the album. And the unreleased at the end. It's almost like she's proving a point. That she's always felt a certain way. And her unreleased songs speak for themselves, a witness to her truth Seeing as they are all from different years, it makes a certain statement.

Controversial opinion: Text Book is one of my favorite openers. Idk. It's so dramatic. The weird drum at the begining, it's wild, creepy. Followed by the rest. It's gunning for my #1 Cruel World

Ppl who don’t like the nfr title track dk what its like to transcend it’s undeniably one of the casually coolest tracks she’s ever made. The quality and sound vicinity to it is impeccable. The song has a levitating quality. And the subject matter, a very important concept. Such good balanced writing. it’s not a sledgehammer, it’s a magazine on a coffee table or breaking abruptly when the stoplight turns red

It’s going to get harder with each record to rank them because none of them are bad (yes, even LFL and COCC). Norman remains my absolute fave, HM or UV in second (can’t decide), but BB sure will have more diversity and oomph than COCC for sure, a bit more passion.

The day the album leaked and I listened to it, I ended up getting the worst haircut of my entire life a few hours later. I feel like that was some form of life trying to teach me a lesson lol. So if BB leaks, I'm going to save myself (and my hair)

Talking about her lyricism: I don't know if it truly is an unpopular opinion, but I never quite figured why people think Lana romanticize abuse or sadness. I've never ever in my life as a fan wanted similar relationships because, well, being in love with a cheater or an abuser... sucks? I can understand how people can be inspired and would want to suffer the sadness, pain and heartbreak of an abusive relationship (you know how people mimic celebrities, and not only teenagers btw), but blaming it solely on Lana's lyricism is a little unfair. I've always had the feeling that sugarcoating her words is just a way to cope with her feelings, like magnifying the pain so it seems less unconquerable. For real, I don't know how you can listen to Ultraviolence or SAD Girl and think "wow, I want to be that girl so much and live the same life" when you can feel the despair in her voice. Even the so-called glamorous lives narrated in Born to Die seem full of pain. When you scratch the glossy veneer, everything's dark and melancholic. I think the problem is, people are obsessed by aesthetic. They differentiate looking glamorous and the real feelings behind the mask, when in Lana discography, it goes hand in hand. Carmen is a perfect example for me, as she describes how fun her life can seem, when she actual feels like dying: it's like, you know, thinking beautiful people have it easy in life just because they're beautiful, but in reality, they feel miserable for many reasons.

Unpopular opinion: LB has the better taste than the rest of the fandom

To me, Lana’s songs aren’t really sad or depressing the way people make them seem. They are thoughtful and contemplative, and they definitely elicit an emotional listening response, but I think everyone conflates sadness and reflection. I’m never put into a “depressive mood” when I listen to Lana — if anything, I feel uplifted and understood!

taste bestie the fact the the album starts with "i guess you could call it text book. I was looking for the father i wanted back" is absolutely iconic and sets the tone.

I second this, the production on the track is just excellent alone + with the crickets opening up the record... however, think of how Lana already starts off with addressing one of her main criticisms: her "daddy" issues as the media calls it. I guess you could call it textbook I was lookin' for the father I wanted back and as far as track listing goes for this album she's dragging critics left and right: from the weak women anti feminist narrative the media paints her as on the title track, the LA romanticization on Arcadia, and her abuse on Wildflower Wildfire - and that's not the only topics those songs cover. I don't know about you but those opening lines on Text Book set the entire tone and I just know it's gonna wrap up nicely and this record is gonna sit on top next to NFR!

i didn't know so many people felt so strongly about nfr i think it's a fitting opening track for the album and it's nice, but it's definitely not my favorite at all

can’t wait for everyone to say this is her best album next month, then call it shit 2 weeks later and treat it even worse than cocc and a year later it’ll suddenly be her misunderstood, ahead of its time masterpiece

I don’t think she’ll ever meet the standard of BTD, UV and HM again

This is quite literally the exact point Lana was trying to make in QFTC skjsfsin I really wish it was better-received, as the point she was trying to make was really quite valid x

Stans whose favorite albums are Honeymoon or COCC tend to be the coolest/nicest out of everyone. They’re not my top albums but I can admit their stans are the most pleasant
