10 years ago to this very day, November 9th 2012, Lana Del Rey released the Paradise EP, which also became a part of the reissue package of Born to Die: The Paradise Edition. The EP was first released in Australasia, and later on the 12th in the UK and the 13th in the US. It debuted within the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, and within the Top 5 of the Billboard US Top Rock Albums & Billboard US Alternative Albums. Following its release, it became a top hit charting across several countries in Europe. The EP alone has been certified Platinum in Australia and Gold in France. The EP earned Lana her first nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Its music video Ride was also nominated for Best Art Direction at the 2013 MTV VMAs. With its repackage of Born to Die: The Paradise Edition, it has been certified Platinum in Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, and 2x Platinum in Sweden. The repackage can be considered Lana's most popular project to date, generating nearly 4.5B streams on Spotify. The EP sparked the cult classic hit Ride, and features a re-recording of Yayo, the closing track on her original debut Lana Del Ray AKA Lizzy Grant. Within this era, Lana created her first short film Tropico, which included videos for the songs Body Electric, Gods & Monsters, and Bel Air. To further promote the EP, Lana embarked on the Paradise Tour, her first major world tour. Happy 10th birthday, Paradise! Oh, how the years fly by xx Let's celebrate this incredible milestone by taking a trip down memory lane... Photo Gallery: Music Videos: Live Performances: Memorable Moments:

I think this album is gunna be super special and unlike anything we've heard from her yet. Dark jazzy wordy and wild.

Tbh I think the album is finished and she finished it in September or early October and submitted it in early October and that's why BOZ heard it. Ben said in August the album is nearing completion and shortly after that Lana posted a snippet and the " Ian and I making magic " story after not mentioning anything album related since W magazine. I think maybe they were doing final touches then, though the Rockefeller snippet video could be older ( with that I mean not from the day she posted it) and she just decided to post it because the album was close to being finished or for whatever reason. The vinyl takes several months ( I think it's like 5 months) to get pressed and maybe they didn't wanted to start the roll out yet ( possible reasons could be SOTB and Mariah Carey's defrostation aka xmas/ festive season getting started). Maybe they were unsure how to do the roll out because of the theft and the possibility of leaks and they need time to figure out a good plan. I take the ad , BOZ kinda confirming he talked about Lana & FJM confirming he is featured on the album as a good sign that the album is coming in a few months ( maybe March / April 2023) but only time will tell. Maybe they decided to start the roll out closer to the release date this time since things could possible leak left, right & center once it gets announced. But only time will tell and all we can do is wait. I think if we get anything this year it will be this month, if that's not happening then it will be next year, which is fine. Even though I just remembered Lana dropped the COCC teaser close to xmas ( wasn't it like December 22nd or sth). There are many possibilities, just wanted to share my thoughts though because I have alot of them regarding LDR9 lol

I’m trying to not be too delusional, but I find it very hard to believe that BOZ heard the album from the theft. He’s said that he doesn’t talk about Lana because of how she changes her mind and changes things last minute, so if he’s confident enough to talk about the FJM feature there’s no way he’s just talking about a leak; that’s the furthest thing from set in stone. Lastly, the tweet he chose to reply to explicitly said the album was coming sooner than we thought, and while that might have just been the fan account saying that (instead of FJM) it’s not unrealistic to think that was him dropping a clue.

I'm starting to think a December album release is possible

that’s basically the honeymoon rollout..we got a few snippets here and there (the honeymoon lyrics, the billboard, honeymoon the song) but we got HBTB, album cover, release, and all that good stuff all at once. Truly a time to be alive. Nothing has gone that smoothly since edit: and this all happened in a month. HBTB was released august and the album came September.

I genuinely think the album is finished and that we’ll hear something in the next few months. BoZ’s comments (even prior to the FJM reply) really seem to point to a completed Lana record, but it’s tough to say how the theft situation may have impacted the release timeline. That being said, I doubt she lost any major music material; her interview emphasized that most of her songwriting (outside of voice memos) has been in the studio, and her producers will undoubtedly have copies and access to her work, even if she merely sent them a voice recording. However, I wonder if any of the footage stolen from her was related to the record, such as for a homemade music video or something similar. Also, I’m sure emotionally—and perhaps legally—it’s been troubling for her and her team, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that would cause a delay as well. Then again, maybe we’re just waiting for the vinyls to get ready

I wonder if we're getting just a lead with the preorder coming shortly after or an album reveal with everything at the same time I don't think I could take album title + cover + date + tracklist + lead single all together... We're used to get scraps every now and then and the album title months in advance. It would be sensory overload

I think the only decisive evidence of something coming really soon is the fact that they are promoting her with those ads. They wouldn't pay for them for nothing (and the mailing list explicitly says it's for upcoming announcements and releases so it's not like they just want to promote her back catalogue). Boz listening to the album and now confirming the FJM collab is more circumstantial but is still a positive clue about the album being close. (+Neil teasing but that's just speculation). And I 100% agree with what @Ocean Boulevard just said, it's what makes more sense considering what we have so far in terms of info/clues

this comment proves that you haven't actually listened to joni mitchell but yes lana does need to move away from the non-joni mitchell stale acoustic mountains california sound

I need lana to get the hell away from joni Mitchell territory it's tired and stale. We need to be encouraging her signature sexy wild and free dark jazz Lynch and Waters side not her 70s cokehead acoustic bumpkin grandma side

    1. BOZ saying he can't wait to talk about the masterpiece of an album he just heard. 2. BOZ saying that jack is a genius when he does things right. 3. The collaboration with FJM is "fantastic". I don't know about you, but I feel like Lana is going to outdo Norman.

I missed my 10 year Lana stan anniversary sometime back in September, but Ride was the first release i got to experience as it came out Happy 10 years Paradise! I remember it took me a few listens to warm up to Cola and Body Electric but wow this EP called to me like a siren song. I think objectively, Paradise is her best work.

I don't think boz would expose himself like that tho... if she didn't submit the album the only way he could access it would be through the stolen laptop and the statement about the collab being fantastic would tie him to the theft

If she goes the jazz route it's probably going to be something more contemporary or sultry (similar to FJM last album or Peggy Lee's signature songs). I'm still waiting for a studio version of Why Don't You Do Right

The good thing about Lana is that she doesn't usually release songs on Fridays so any day can be release day

LDR9 will be a serve not like COTCC and BB but more like HM and UV I just know it she can take all of my money

I didn’t think BB or, for that matter, COCC, were snoozes—they’re among my favorites of all her albums—but I’m ready for something different. And I think Lana is too. Hopefully, by releasIng the older, already-leaked tracks on BB, she’s gotten that out of her system for good. if she does go some sort of a jazz route, there’s a million contemporary hybrid styles of jazz, so unless it’s the covers album, I do not expect her to do something like 1950s Peggy Lee or Sarah Vaughan. Or for that matter, the way jazz was introduced into folk and rock in the 60s and 70s by Donovan, Pentangle, Joni Mitchell, or Steely Dan. I’m sure it will be something we love, a la BR.

sometimes i fail to recognize paradise's iconic impact on lana's discography. it gave us Gods & Monsters, Ride, Cola, etc. a timeless album with such a special place in my heart.

the album did not just live on lana’s stolen hard drive and computer lol, tbh lana probably only had the song files. her producers are the ones who have the entire sessions; i can guarantee that nothing that was recorded for LDR9 was lost. tbh the only LDR9 rollout plans that i think were affected by the hack are the music videos and possibly lyrics for songs that hadn’t been recorded yet. unless any songs from it end up leaking in the future, in that case it would be pretty dangerous territory and that would have a lot more of an affect on the album rollout than the hack itself. that whole situation seems like more of a personal tragedy, invasion of privacy, and loss of her book than a loss of the album

Speaking of Weyes, I love what her company does: a month before release, any copy bought through their official store can be streamed. Before someone leaked lq recordings of Weyes’s album, I thought Interscope could do the same for her fans… but then again, someone surely would record the songs and leak them
