I am getting annoyed by this argument, that artists age and fade into obscurity (once they hit their 30s)? I would stop worrying so much about her „career fading“, when she just released 2 years ago NFR, that put her even more on the spot of everyone. She‘s had a big impact since BTD and other, bigger artists acknowledging that just goes to show how little she’s fading sorry if this comes off as harsh, but the ageism is really strong in here sometimes even though she‘s not even 40, which let’s face it, is still young. And to put it on America is funny, when Madonna dropped her best selling album close to her being 50. so much for that

While I definitely enjoyed these singles, I’m really hoping there’s some more melodically driven songs on this album. I miss the strong melodies & harmonies from BTD / UV.... I don’t necessarily need her to return to that subject matter, but I just hope every song isn’t written as one long poem.

Yes, I'm quoting myself, wanted to add: I feel like this album will mark the moment of a huge change for Lana. I don't know what kind of change, but major change. These lyrics are, imo some of the darkest lyrics. And the instrumentals on TB are truly out of a place of an acceptance of desperation and defeat. She will outdark Ultraviolence. I'm not surprised she released three tracks at once. These magnificent three are siblings. I feel like she's gonna tell her story, just like she said she would. and this was just the beginning. And she needed to tell it in three songs. These songs will not be for everyone, possibly the whole album. This is for herself. Prhaps why we don't get the typical visual rollout.

100%. I'm also tired of everything being in falsetto /head voice. Missing her low voice of the early records. When she would occasionally sing high on the early albums it had a big impact, because she used it sparingly. Now everything is up in that range and there's less dynamics.

and people will argue that lana shouldn't have complete control over her work which i think is really unfair? of course, her past work is great, but she should still have control over her work, and i'm not saying the producers shouldn't have any input, but she should have the final say, she's not stupid, she's created very beautiful works of art by herself, songs like disco, pawn shop blues, oh say can you see, elvis, super movie, etc. were all written & produced (at some points) by her and they're wonderful, she's a great artist and she's very creative, and at the end of the day, she's gonna do what she wants to do, and obviously right now she wants a more mellow, confessional sound for her work

agree, but for me, I actually don't think they're mellow at all. the emotional depth to them are just gut-wrenching. it's just that the orientation of her music is less external now and more self-oriented and others may just find that less dynamic. but it's absolutely mystical and also very much a true realm/ world that others don't often dip into. it's personally riveting for me, like yes let's explore tell me ur secrets and I'll keep them with you.

Can I just say - the rising synths in the background of Wildflower Wildfire’s second chorus before the beat drops oh my god

honestly tho do we need a video? i think it's very imagery forward in the song itself. idk, in some way i don't really need the videos for songs anymore. i'd love to have them but they're time consuming. i'd rather Lana work on more music rather than videos. like if she's finishing this album, i'd rather her write a couple more new songs that would bridge the way for the next album instead of wasting time for videos that she'll never put out or videos that are lackluster (white dress i'm looking at you)

Lana will never fade. She has a huge fanbase and she's still an icon even if she doesn't get the huge numbers of BTD. There are artist that struggle to get a couple million streams on their songs and still release albums cause some people still tune in for their releases. And Lana can literally make 0 money from new releases and still be able to make music from her past albums royalties and such. She already had like 900M streams in 2021 alone.

Manifesting a preorder coming soon, I'm so excited for this album!! All of the songs were perfection imo, i've had them on repeat for days now. I can't wait to hear the rest

I think we're all sobbing for BTD/UV sounds, and I love Lana and her art with all my heart, but her music does not get to me as it did some years ago, but it's ok. She is evolving as an artist and person, just like all of us, which is beautiful. We really have the opportunity to grow with Lana, and I think we should appreciate every single work of art from her. Doesn't matter if it's produced by Jack or by Rick or anybody else.

The title track always switch between 1 and 2 on her tracklists. BTD - was track 1 UV - was track 2 HM - was track 1 LFL - was track 2 NFR - was track 1 COCC - was track 2 BB is supposedly track 1 so if it's not is a break on a tradition

People can say what they want about Lana’s “antifeminism” but if there’s anything that that quote about her production process proves, it’s that she truly is an empowered woman. Her close production circle has consistently been men (other than Laura Sisk, who engineers records with Jack) and she never lets her voice go unheard - she’s the one in charge. And I love that (we all know by now that I’m a #girlboss advocate it’s super important to see educated, empowered, and flourishing women of all types succeed). I think her self-assuredness is really stark considering the fact that so many people have tried to paint her as some sort of submissive personality, when really, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Even in her music, I never got a true “submissiveness” from her, as critics would say they did. Blue Banisters as a record is truly poignant because Lana is reclaiming her voice as a woman - and I think her telling her own story is the most powerful thing anyone can do. Setting the record straight and exploring her femininity by recognizing that while there have been women who have truly hurt her, she can now celebrate the women who have healed her. That’s in and of itself the opposite of what people have defamed Lana to be. I really do admire the fact that Lana calls all the shots when it comes to her career - whether or not you like the changes in production each album, or the promotional strategies (or lack thereof, sometimes) you can’t deny the fact that Lana Del Rey is a confident woman who truly is a great symbol of “traditionally feminine” women being empowering - especially when culture has, for a long time, accepted the masculinization of women as “true” feminism. That’s also why I also love artists like Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion - they reclaim the hyper-sexuality and femininity that women have been conditioned to dissociate from in order to be taken seriously. Women like these, Lana included, give us the option to be comfortable in ourselves and to set our own boundaries when it comes to our presentations of self. Sorry for such a long rant - but @PatentLeatherDoOver’s quote set me off LOL <3 and I think this really ties into the album and the commentary Lana seems to be making by telling her own story (intentional or not) .

While this may vary by producer, I completely agree, and past interviews with her engineers and producers seem to confirm this. Here’s a quote about Lana in the production process that I love: “There is this thing about Lana that if we know she’ll be showing up in half an hour, we have an instinct about what she’s going to like and what not, and so it’s like: ‘Hurry up and make it sound good, so when she walks in the door she’ll be smiling.’ And if she’s not smiling we know how to pull it together really quickly. But she’s in the room for much of the process, and incredibly meticulous about vocal levels, for example. A lot of the vocal rides are dictated by her. She hears 0.2dB differences in volume, and when we got the first mastered songs back, she was really dismayed by how they sounded, and it turned out to be the dithering down from 24- to 16-bit that was bothering her!”

Blue Banisters and Wildflower Wildfire give me depression in the best way possible

i can understand why the production in wildflower wildfire is off-putting, but blue banisters' production sounds completely normal and fine? there's nothing rough about it, and honestly just because it doesn't have the most immaculate-sounding production doesn't mean it's any less of a quality, meaningful song, they are low-key and confessional, while salvatore & terrence loves you are more cinematic, and they are almost six years old, i don't think it's a completely fair comparison

she needs to go back to jimmy fallon and blow us away with a performance of wildflower wildfire

My only complaint about her production lately it's that is doesn't really flow well on its own. I mean you can put the instrumentals from BTD to LFL (and NFR to an extent) and really enjoy them on their own but with these new songs and part of Chemtrails nothing it's really happening if you don't hear the full thing with the vocals and vocal production. Still love the final product tho.

i wonder how the album will continue lyrically, in the second part of WW she says "hot coffee, i'm better - so i turn" it makes me wonder if she's chronicalizing her treatment or healing process from all of the things that have burned her. her mom, her man in BB, her dad who didn't step in when her mom did it. it would make sense if she's talking about healing from things that burned her including the critics too which we haven't really gotten a song about yet. unless you think about the "let's rewrite history i'll do this dance with you" as a line referring to the critics who dance back and forth with saying she's a bad artist who glamorizes abuse to giving her total critical acclaim. i just hope theres at least one or two other songs about the critics and not just a double meaning line in one song. like you're coming for revenge, let's get 2-3 songs about the critics. don't beat a dead horse and let that energy get stale though. just enough to make your point and move on also now that she said she won't be a wildfire maybe we're moving on from candle in the wind on this album. thank fuckin god oooo what do you guys think is the new red dress/pale moonlight? we had candle in the wind between 2/3 albums (if you count Yosemite from LFL) we're still getting blue, she still loves that color/word

I actually love how all these songs remind me of Hope is a dangerous thing... that song is one of my favorites for its sheer honesty and bittersweet melody... just came to realize just how great WW lyrics are.. and Blue banisters is so damn sad.. it’s kinda like realizing life goes on and some wounds just can’t seem to heal. It’s like everyone is happy and moving on but Lana still can’t seem to see past much.. no matter how optimistic she is.. kinda reminds me of the never ending heartbreak and suffering frida khalo endured until her end days.. sad shit

Chemtrails was actually a pretty happy and contemplative album lyrically. Nostalgia and melancholia were still part of it but I found that overall, it’s her least sad record. Even the melodies are almost « joyful » for Lana. Thank God she’s going back to what I fell in love with 10 years ago : pure tragedy and sadness. I’m ready to be torn apart again after the three new songs.
