She would push the boundaries further on 2015’s dreamy, soundtrack-esque “Honeymoon,” a controversial curveball at the time that has since been embraced as a fan favorite.

They trampled her dreams and mocked her, and she broke. and now, her revenge is like leaving the equation, where she takes all that's good with her away, putting all of that love back to herself and what she cares about. it's an album that's big on self-respect and reclaiming one's self. she wants to continue sharing thru music, left social media to then having a private account. it's like she's saying, hey i'm here, but only for those who care enough to actually want to get to know me and see me for me, nothing else. and then what adds more to the record is that it's just so stable and solid enough to be her last record. as a long time fan, i'm having trouble thinking about what her next step might be for the next record if what i'm theorizing above is true. because this is such a beautiful and just response to the outside, and a more intimate answer for those who've stood/listened to her for the longest. I KNOW this record is going to be remembered as being something pivotal in her career, even past it's beauty. i've always been the sort of person to sort of peer into someone's perspective first than my own to understand them better first than forming opinions, so connecting and understanding her work past the upfront was and is a real extra genuine pleasure. this album just wraps so much of what her public professional career has been the past years. for those wanting more on lush and intricate production, as enticing as that'd sound, the atmosphere, personally, and from a cultural standpoint/counterpoint perspective, I think blends perfectly for it's own. I read somewhere that reduction is actually an act of mastery, and she does so beautifully w holding and creating the space she does w this album. ofc I'd love to hear more music and projects from her, but for me, like how she's shifted from NFR to making listeners shift their way of listening to her music from more grandiose, direct fashion, to a more contemplative and immersive delicate place NFR onto COTCC, to now the very much more tenderly-charged, tender BB. I know a lot of people might've not noticed, but this all gives the kind of experience and feelings when getting to start actually knowing someone, to then having them disappear. as a fan, it's truly heartbreaking to know that she's been through so much to have to have raced through all this, but makes me even more happier that she's able to start moving past it. I hope she keeps sharing the beautiful and unique pockets of universes that she does w her work. a lot seems to be answered already, but maybe some more movie soundtracks, maybe even directing? the poetry's still very much gladly welcome. and of course maybe she'll get to better write the album of her dreams, that'd really be something. maybe more gradually and little nods. I'm real happy to know that we've been part of and get to experience her career like this firsthand. Universe pulled and is pulling through wow ah Said this time and time again, but thanks Miss Rey. It's been and is incredible.

Lana did an interview with Variety because of this Hoping we get to see more of what she said during this (if she said anything else) https://variety.com/2021/music/entertainers/lana-del-rey-ultraviolence-born-to-die-blue-banisters-1235123179/ “But to be honest — and this is the takeaway — my proudest achievement is continuing to uphold my personal truth in a time when truth is often questioned and rarely valued.”

I swear Marina fans are never satisfied everybody was so hyped for this song after it was left off the album and now it’s here and everyone is disappointed. It’s a cute song and it sounds like a natural progression from the demo snippet we heard

"But I can say all of my creative cosplay — aka notes from my real life — did widen up the sound in popular music for people to make a departure from a pure pop sound to something more diarist.” let em know

I don’t really want this to happen, but I’d be curious to see the end result of Lana working with someone like FINNEAS would be I’m not a huge fan of the music he produces, but I can’t help but wonder what it would sound like with his music being more traditionally pop-oriented

That's a pretty limited idea of what flow means. It doesn't mean every sound needs to match the previous song. An album can be all over the place and still have a good flow to it. It's all about twisting the story, vibe, and emotion at the right moment to deliver an experience that resonates in all its ups and downs, which this album very much does. Dealer comes at literally the perfect time

“There were moments while I was making ‘Honeymoon,’ moments while mixing ‘Ultraviolence,’ then writing ‘Norman Rockwell!’ and producing my own album, ‘Blue Banisters,’ that all stand out to me,” wait she produced blue banisters? i think she means co-produced with complete creative control. which..explains a lot ab some of the production choices. icon of individuality

Carmen is a beautiful and interesting song and I don't get why it's so many people's least favorite from BTD.

It’s surreal seeing Lana mention so many of her records in one interview! I never thought I’d hear her say which record she deems as her best, either! I wonder if she has any intentions of topping NFR! for her own standards or if she’s content with the quality of work she’s generated & solely making music for the fulfillment of it (aka “playing real good for free”) For me, at least, Blue Banisters almost felt like Lana delivering a breath of relief for telling her narrative without any room for further explanation. In short, it was a clarification and confessional piece chronicling her life. Now that she’s set her story straight (so to speak), I can’t help but wonder where she’s headed next. Will we get a “day in the life” view of Lana’s world like with NFR, or should we expect something different? Either way, I’m ready

so nice to hear her writing voice again. and to hear her talking about making music instead of just having to talk about stupid controversies.

It’s honestly such a weird trend. I’ve been a fan for almost 10 years now and it’s literally always been the same 💀💀

I think that's what she means too. Having creative control over her work is something I've noticed is really important to Lana, so I can see why those moments are something that stand out to her. For me it also adds a lot more to the rawness and personality of BB if she did help with some of the production on it

i still lowk think Wildflower should have opened BB. it's just so powerful. those opening chords are so badass and , "here's the deal / i know you want to talk ab it" ICONIC i also think IYLDWM and Dealer should have been sequences, the horn outro leads perfectly into the more alt-rock influences synths and drums on dealer for some reason i be listening to it like WW BBS Beautiful Violets for Roses IYLDWM Dealer Thunder Nectar of the Gods Living Legend Text Book Blue Banisters Sweet Carolina
