friendly reminder that girls & women editing their photos is a product of a toxic society which holds impossible standards for women’s appearances & it should not be accepted or normalized! this isn’t directed at anybody i just felt like it should be said bc it makes me really sad that so many people (mostly women) feel the need to do this

i think people are forgetting that country music isn’t just mainstream “beer, trucks, hot girls & dirt-roads!” type of music, a lot of 60s classics could be considered “country”, some of which she’s covered! i’d say she’s already explored that style anyway

Lana has a big enough fanbase that she's set for life. No matter what kind of music she releases there will be people all over the world listening and enjoying.

It doesn’t really matter that her albums do less then peak. She’s a Rite of Passage artist, her catalogue gets millions of streams ( the hits and a lot of the non hit backlog). It doesn’t matter to the label that she makes quieter albums now. They still do well objectively, sell a lot of vinyls, and has an avid fanbase that streams her music constantly. She has made them so much fucking money. She’s in no danger of getting dropped. The label is fine to let her be bc 1) they know she’ll walk if they try to control her 2) all parties are happy with the status quo and they aren’t gonna risk fucking with that. so at the end of the day Lana will release whatever she wants , and any suggestions by management or the label will probably about single choices and promotional things. Strictly the business side. Lana runs the music part eith an iron fist as she should. She has all the power and she knows it.

i agree that an artist does owe their fans in some respect but the only thing an artist truly owes to their fans is mutual respect. that goes both ways however and fans do owe artists respect as well. however, artists do not owe fans whatever they want in their sound. it may be a business, but it’s also art and if i were an artist this far along in my career, i’d make whatever the hell i wanted regardless of whether or not i thought my fans would be into it. true fans don’t care what style their favorite artist is dipping their toe into - they’ll listen regardless. if they don’t like it, that’s okay, too. they don’t have to. but thousands of other people will love it regardless and continue to listen to it and those are the people that will buy and stream, etc. no one is more or less of a fan for liking / not liking certain genres, and lana owes no one anything. she’s given many great albums that everyone can always go back and listen to if that’s more their taste than whatever she decides to put out in the future. PS, sorry if my tone comes across as rude in any way. this is just me attempting to contribute to civil discourse. <3

Not true! I just got some burning hot tea, she re-recorded Pray For Rain at Capitol THIS YEAR & it should be on the album! She hasn’t submitted the full record to the label yet, my friend told me she just submitted one other song that was “way better than Don’t Forget”. I’m 99% sure it’s Descending (or it could be Pray For Rain), but he didn’t have a title. It’s really weird that the insiders have more of Masochism than the actual label, usually when you’re signed the masters are due right after completion. I guess since she’s such a perfectionist they’re technically “not complete”, but Lovers Die, Descending & a few others are going around in lossless

Some comments saying Lana is obese on twitter…she is clearly not obese and even if she was nobody deserves to be vilified and called names. Why she’s edited her photo’s I don’t know, but it does worry me she’s not comfortable in her body. Even though I don’t agree obesity should be celebrated or should be considered normal (because that sends the wrong message) when it’s clearly extremely unhealthy- even in this situation you do not fat shame people or vilify them. Weight is personal and nothing to do with anyone else.

Lana provides a product and we, the consumers, financially support her in return. We're not forced to buy or stream her music and she doesn't have to make the type of music that some fans want. Some fans might not like the direction that she's going in and that's completely fine - neither side owes anything to the other. Also this might just be me but I would absolutely hate it if artists started making music based entirely on what fans want. You end up with a Lust For Life situation where it caters to everybody and nobody.

If Lana were to actually do a full country album it would be a serve and a half People get scared when they hear the word country but I'm sure Lana would channel the classics rather than cheesy country pop and she'd give it her own unique spin the way she always does. I bet her country album would be a huge critical success.

LDR9 is not going to be country and even if it is, she'll probably put out a different record in 2 years anyway I'd understand if people got kinda upset if they had to wait 4+ years for their fave's album and ended up being a genre they dislike but luckily that's not the case with Lana (plus she has a huge back catalog already). I also want to add that Lana's fanbase is very diverse, just cause the reception for her last 2 albums (and the hypothetical country record) didn't seem that positive, it doesn't mean that nobody liked those albums/direction. I'd also want a crazy 180° musical turn but I also loved Chemtrails and BB so I wouldn't really mind another record on the acoustic/folky side. At the end of the day LB, Twitter, etc. are just a little sample of all the different opinions and tastes people have

Tbh the entire "I don't owe you anything" and "I'm an artist and a free spirit so I do what I want" stuff is a little problematic. As an artist, your fans and ONLY your fans are the reason you have a career in the first place. In that way, all artists DO owe their fans a lot actually. It's still a business. You kind of have to cater to your supporters, at least a little bit. Doing the opposite of what your fans like repeatedly is not badass at all, it's just extremely unwise.
