34 likesHi all, We are aware that Lana's latest album has leaked, and tracks are circling off-site. We are monitoring these developments but at this point we need to refer people back to the original guidelines which were agreed to when users joined the site, notably these two: Anyone caught trading, or if any mod has their suspicion of a person trading, will have their PM access disabled as well as the ability to post status updates on the main page, and on the pages of other members. Posting or sending illegal download links to officially released content available for purchase or streaming whether a leak or post-release is strictly forbidden. Additionally, requesting links to such content is also not allowed. Violating these rules will result in a warning points, mod queues, and if especially ban and continuously breaking the rules, a ban. While we do permit users to discuss material before it's been released, lately there have been extremely malicious content mixed in and masquering as material for the album which is deliberately misleading and distressing to most users. You must understand that we cannot control what you chose to do off-site, but strongly recommend that you do not engage with any file you're not sure on the origin on. Certain posts have been refered to external bodies, and needless to say if any user is found in connection with these the penalty will be severe. Do not try to be clever - don't use words that rhyme in place of a website, don't refer to any offsite websites where leaks are being held, don't discuss the content outside of music from files offsite. These will all result in a warning point and mod queue until release day. I also want to remind you of two other things this moment: Please stay on topic. We will be liberally giving out warning points and mod queues for those breaking this rule in the Pre-Release thread, as we are needing to ensure all posts are conforming to our guidelines and standards. If it's too much, log off. It truly is that simple. Music is the most wonderful thing in the world but can really heighten emotions, and although you're excited to discuss and listen to new music, it's just as important to your mental health to log off, enjoy something in real life and take a break from here. Check-in with yourself and make sure you're ok. We look forward to celebrating the album with you on it's release, but please use common sense and make sure you're complying with the above because you're not going to find leniency as the default reply. Thanks, The Mod Team

30 likesOk this might be an unpopular opinion and I’m ready to get flamed but… The purpose of art isn’t to write or produce things that make people feel comfortable. By writing a lyric that some construe as tone deaf she’s making us think about that statement. eg: Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable This isn’t specifically aimed at LB (it’s more prevalent on reddit, twitter, and tt) but a few people have already mentioned about how a lot of fans are listening to this from a “comfortable” position (eg being white, and accordingly having privilege) and speaking for minorities Idk I really haven’t conveyed my thoughts articulately at all but I think that whilst it’s very easy to argue that the ‘white woman’ lyric is tone deaf, I think it opens up interesting (and, perhaps for people who are more privileged, discomforting) discussion over white saviorisim idk I’m interested to hear everyone’s thoughts. I know this is written badly hahaha I have (legitimate lol) brain damage

28 likesI don't give a fuck if she gets cancelled or not when grown ass men can go on antisemitic tangents in public and support Neo-Nazis all over the media and still have a fanbase. Until that day comes where women aren't held to a completely different standard, I don't give a FUCK about some cringeworthy line in a deep cut.

27 likesi think ur brain damage made u smarter than most fans so you're good. i wish everyone had such nuance listening to music and discussing art... this was the same criticism that she was getting early on in her career with "glamorizing abuse" or making women look bad or whatever. now she is writing about different topics but her fans and haters are doing the same type of attacking because she is not pc enough or w/e, if i were to guess she'd be more upset about her fans misunderstanding her like this (as she complained about for a decade) than a small portion of her fanbase listening to some leaks but we don't see thinkpieces and essays discussing the morality and ethics of that do we

26 likesshe didn't mean literal mentions of color... she was talking about how this album is a direct stream of consciousness without any "colouring" or "painting" being done to the lyrics or the soundscape. the songs are very much black and white, expressed directly from her creative energy without any layers of world building or injecting of different palettes to make it seem more palatable and accessible. just look at LFL or NFR and this record...

24 likesIt’s crazy how people can claim to stan Lana but not understand that she’s an incredibly selfish artist. She doesn’t make music for us 😭, she makes it for herself which she has said numerous times, whether we like it or not. So if she wants to make 20 piano albums, she’s gonna make 20 piano albums!!!

22 likesMaybe I’m in my problematic era but I’m so tired of everything being controversial. Lana can say whatever she wants. I truly don’t care. A lot of The Weeknd’s lyrics are abusive and misogynistic, and no bats an eye (including myself) because he’s male and it’s art. Why is this any different except that it’s like 50 times less problematic?

21 likesheadliners are on the first line all the way at the top, the rest of the performers were listed in alphabetical order.. lana wanted to be shown at the top as a headliner and not in the middle among nobodies LMFAO.. but also for glastonbury's promo i can't believe they didn't put her name on top, so many people only read headliners and the top few lines and won't even know she's gonna be there

19 likesAre you kidding me. She literally has attended BLM protests, donated $350,000 to the Navajo Nation to help provide them with clean water, has acknowledged being a “modern day woman with a weak constitution” and so so much more. Come on, dude. It’s very well known where she lies politically, and that’s objectively to the left. She is against everything the GOP stands for.

19 likesPitchfork gave Best New Music to the Kali Uchis, Kelela and Caroline Polachek albums (as they should!) so if they don’t give it to Lana this time around, I’ll personally make sure their headquarters are set on fire filled with rabid stans reciting Violet from start to finish until the end of the year.

17 likesI personally feel from the three songs I've heard that this is her darkest work yet. It's about finally unpacking the things she wasn't ready to face and really putting herself through the emotional wringer. There's a weight to it that I don't think she's explored before. That being said, I think she will balance a lot of emotions throughout the record and the ultimate takeaway will be one of hope, strength, love for yourself and others.
