If You Lie Down With Me is so 70s lounge-chic (and then launches into a 30s saloon moment with that brassy postlude). I think it’s one of my absolute favourites. That song, Text Book, and Nectar of the Gods, in my opinion, carry the most apparent western influences that make me think in the vein of Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood’s original recordings together. There’s just something so hazy and glamorous, but thoughtful about those three tracks. The richness and warmth of Lana’s vocals when she first says, “put your red boots on..”

I don’t trust people who skip Wildflower Wildfire. Truly one of her most majestic and poetic songs in her whole discography.

i love how in all the pre-release threads we would joke around like "which song do you think the patty diss track is?" and now we're here like how to pick just one?

If this post is remotely related to Lana, I’m VERY intrigued to see how Lana will segue Blue Banisters into a Mike Dean x Emile Haynie collab! I think Wildflower Wildfire would have likely sounded different had it not been on BB, but can you imagine Lana shifting this era into a cross between these two songs? ICONIC

I think there is a tendency to equate complexity with masterful writing, and simplicity with amateurism but that is a fallacy. Simplicity can be powerful, and overwriting can obscure the soul of a work. I see a lot of the criticism of IYLDWM as falling into this trap. Is the chorus simple ? Yes. But, it is because that is all the song needs to say. Padding is bad writing. The verses paint a vivid picture and the chorus adds the necessary emotional context to understand the picture. Using a lot of big words does not make meaning profound. If you are discussing the profound it will bleed through the words whether your style is simple or complex, and Lana, well is vast and contains multitudes.

I cannot believe this album was released almost a week ago. I've replayed it dozens of times by now, and it still sounds so fresh and new. Her power

You roll like thunder, pouring all your drinks The party's lit and you, my friend, half-cut when it begins You roll like thunder, you're tryna catch that wind That lightning in the bottle, that moonbeam in your hand And you try to see the bright side when each new day begins But you're not satisfied at the rainbow's end And baby I, I've been running on star drip IV's for so long I wouldn't know how cruel the world was Hot fire, hot weather, hot coffee, I'm better So I turn but I learn (it from you, babe) Not to turn into a wildfire To light up your night With only my smile and nothing that hurts Baby, I run like a wildflower I live on sheer willpower I promise that nothing will burn you Nothing will burn, burn, burn, burn I check it, I wreck it, and I'll explain I gave you all my money, gave you all my money Gave you all my money, gave you all my money I don't wanna live I don't wanna give you nothing 'Cause you never give me nothing back Why can't you be good for something? Not one shirt off your back Why can't you be good for something? Not one shirt off your back

i know lots of people find the interlude kinda out of place but it psyches me up so much! especially after the closing sentiments of arcadia, it really makes me feel badass and free. i love it. i think it works so well even if it's kinda random sonically.

“I’ve been running on stardust alone for so long” and “I’ve been running on stardrip IVs for so long” have to be some of my favorite lines from Lana ever. They’re just so unique, visual, and dreamy.

I think that is something that music industry did in recent years: everything is so polished, well placed, layer after layer and we dont apreciate enough organic works anymore... so glad that Lana is here to mess the things a little

Can we not do this? AG is in a happy relationship with Alaska Reid, and Charli and AG have a similar relationship as siblings. It’s really not our business, but in my opinion after so many years it’s just hard to see the same someone you used to.

i've always loved thunder but i really think the new version has blown the unreleased one out of the water. the slow build up makes the song itself really roll in like thunder and it's brilliant. and i'm no music expert so i'm not sure what makes all those cool sounds throughout but it makes the song really beatlesy and i love it.

halsey look we all went through the 2015 hate phase bc she was clearly a d-grade copycat, but we're well past that and i just... cannot get into her her voice is like nails on a chalkboard, her lyrics are usually so cringy, on paper they are sometimes good but then her delivery ruins it, and her entire persona is just. I can't stand her. I know a lot of people really liked her last album, but I just can't get into it

After two weeks on repeat, I have some questions: - Is the truck the guy in Violets wanted in exchange for Roses the same as in Bartender? - is Angelina an unborn child she had in the past? (The song becomes spookily interesting if you listen to it like the kid is a ghost) - did Chuck end up having Baby blues after Phoenix was born? - is there a third and perfect version of Beautiful, combining the perfect piano of the official release and the strings of the « demo » version that leaked?

She’s saying Mayor! ”and by the mayor, the rallies in the streets have ceased and still the shadows haunt the avenue” She mentions Larchmont in the song, which is a neighborhood in LA near where the mayor mansion is. I think it also relates to this line in her poem: “Hancock Park, it's treated me very badly, I'm resentful The witch on the corner, the neighbor nobody wanted The reason for Garcetti's extra security“ because Hancock park is very close to it and Garcetti is the mayor, I think she either must have written the two around the same time or live there or something? Who knows

My issue with Fantano is that he likes to pretend that he doesn't have an obvious bias against Lana. When she first got big, he full on said that he thinks she's only famous because of the way she looks. I could give less of a shit about what he thinks of the music but that just really bugs me that he said that. But anyways, it rained where I'm at all day, so I went for a drive through the autumn leaves and the rain while listening to the album. It was stunning. Lana picked the perfect release date for BB. I can't imagine it being released during any other season.

I make a point to not hate on any artist and I respect the hustle of everyone, but I think the new wave of alternative women in music — that, in my opinion, inaccurately get lumped with Lana — just aren’t for me (Halsey, Billie Eilish, Clairo, Phoebe Bridgers, Melanie Martinez). I also don’t really like sparkly, shiny, glossy “pop” that is mainstream nowadays. The true beauty of popular music flourished in the early 2000s with Britney, Beyoncé, and their peers.

I love interpretations made about the track placements. I also want to take my turn to interpret last 5 songs Wildflower Wildfire - The title and the concept of the song itself is duality. Lana who she is today makes a promise and says that she wants to be a wildflower rather than a wildfire. And she explains the reasoning by going back to where all begins. How Lana ended up in hospital because of her wildfire mum. And she also explains how her poetry started by using lithium. Nectar of the Gods - You can see the duality in the verses here too. She talks about how cruel the world is and then how sweet the world is; the chorus says how the color blue is fucking crazy and wild like you never knew. Because for the most people, blue is calm and tranqualizing. I believe nectar of the gods refer to drugs. So in this song, she is explaining how she started doing drugs to try to heal hearself. The theme of the song is being lost and she seems lost. She is trying to find her way. Living Legend - She finally finds her way. She finds a mentor who inspires her and takes her hand to get out of the duality. You can see in the bridge how tired she is from living on the edge right between Heaven and Hell and how her living legend sends her right to the Heaven with the things she taught to her. Cherry Blossom - The circle of life makes her the mentor she was talking about in the previous song. She is now mentoring another lost girl (or her past lost self) as there's so much to learn and so much to see. She shows her the way to Heaven and pushes her high, cherry blossom on her sycamore tree. The world is cruel but Lana doesn't care anymore because she learned the way. Sweet Caroline - It's a song wraps up the whole story from her mother being so destructive to her sister having a baby. She makes the promise that she'll always be there for her sister. She shows her caring side she obtained and learned along her story.

Anyways, this is my daily post about how magnificent this record truly is. Can't stop thinking about the line in Arcadia, "They built me up three hundred feet tall just to tear me down / So I'm leavin' with nothing but laughter, and this town / Arcadia / Findin' my way to ya / I'm leavin' them as I was, five foot eight / Western bound." It's a manifesto from an artist who has nothing left to prove and will continue exploring soundscapes and creating their life's work through music.

Why is nobody freaking out about Emile and Mike meeting? the MAGIC those two could make with Lana I'll start manifesting it until it happens
