Hi! I wanted to make a thread where people could discuss and maybe share info about the Tropico album, because it really interests me and I'm sure some of you feel the same way! What we know: - It was recorded during late 2012-2013 but was eventually scrapped and turned into "Ultraviolence". - Lana announced that the short film would use three tracks from "Paradise" instead of songs from her then scrapped album in July of 2013. - "Elvis", the laptop demo from 2008 was possibly considered for inclusion on the album, but was probably never re-recorded. - The concept "Ultraviolence" was born and "Tropico" was scrapped sometime after October 23, 2013, since Pink Champagne is confirmed to be on Tropico's tracklist, and it is the latest known recording date we know of for any of the songs on Tropico. "Tropico" track list (that we know of): 1. Old Money (Drums Demo) 2. Black Beauty (Demo) 3. Guns n Roses (Demo) 4. Lake Placid 5. Summertime (Janis Joplin cover) 6. for the sake of everyone who didn't get these exclusive vinyls when they were available, i hope they all do get repressed. limited releases just fuel scalpers and its the actual fans who often miss out so itd be nice for evwryone to get a chance to own them.

this cover is perfect... and having the features (Nikki Lane, Zella Day & Weyes Blood) on it is better than that picture of random people sitting at a table.

sitting here thinking about how this picture was probably supposed to be the album cover and it was probably someone at her label who brought up the nonissue of it not having any poc, which is why when lana posted the actual cover on insta she went on that weird little mini rant in the comments talking about how her friend group is diverse and not just white girls (which nobody in the comments mentioned in the first place)

Take this with a large grain of salt, but I think she may be repressing all her exclusives. I don’t know yet for sure. Ultraviolence, NFR, Lust For Life, and Honeymoon were all released in the summer. I mean just think, why would Lana re-release the UO Ultraviolence for the 9th anniversary of all anniversaries? Lana really needs to add text notifications to stock on her website… it would’ve come in handy yesterday edit- I’m a hung over and moody gay today… gonna subject my office to listening to UV over and over in an attempt to summon a restock. well I actually wrote a whole paragraph about timeline based oneverything we know from insider and from lana, but we dont have Jamie xx versions of the songs yet and im pretty sure they arent the one that were intended to be on tropico, and Dan auerbach demo isnt the one that was supposed to be on tropico this is what I could come up with

I was reading the Tropico thread and I've got to thinking that I thought that it would be really cool to see you guys' own take on eras/albums that never were. Like, with tracklists, moodboards, album art or at least some aesthetic reference, title, things you would change on the songs to make them cohesive in the whole... everything. You can remake the ones we got or create new ones from scratch, you can use realeased or unreleased tracks, instrumentals/poems as interludes, whatever. Just feel free to do your best. I'll be posting my take on the dreamy spiritual 2013 album very soonish.

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but Courtney Love also seems to have deactivated again. I remember her telling something like Lana and she made a pact to go offline or something like that before the whole album rollout? So maybe Lana's plan was to promote the album with the account only to delete it later? Just a thought

whilst i love the tropico concept i'm glad we ended up with the album we did (uv) as it is my all time favourite album and means so much to me love reading about the tropico process though!!

Kintsugi and Fingertips are essential in Lana’s discography. The foggy examinations of grief, loss, memory and trauma with such delicate instrumentation as the sonic foundation are just lyrical pearls that deserve to go down in the songwriting history books. No one’s doing it like her.

hi babes, i odered 2 of UO vinyls from polish' UMG store because i forgot to put a discount code in one of them and basically it allows you to pay for the order in 3 days and then cancels automatically this way i have one discounted order that i paid for and one for its regular price that will cancel itself 3 days from now and restock on the polish store (which now says all the stock is sold out) soooo if someone's patient enough to pay for this order and wait till it arrives to my address (it only ships to poland) i can then send it to them wherever they want, the thing is it's already around $50 for the order and then you'll probably have to pay around $20 more for shipping from poland so idk if it's that great of a deal but i still wanted to let y'all know in case it'd someone's only chance to get it! edit: ok i sold it!
