Unpopular Lana Opinions

I don't care about repetitiveness. Your Girl, Guns and Roses, Is This Happiness and Angels Forever are some of my favorite lana songs. I think sometimes it even contributes to the song's comfy-ness -
9 likesThis has always fascinated me. Listening to the original 2016 version of that song and the version that ended up on NFR (which was done in 2017), it’s so interesting to see that shift between spite and sympathy that occurred within that 1 year (California was also done in 2017). I remember in the 2014 Rolling Stone interview, Lana said that it was sad they couldn’t be together because their reasons for not being together were purely circumstantial. And I say all of this to not pry, but to just marvel at how impactful a relationship can be, even if it’s over, and how it can basically be distilled into beautiful art in Lana’s case. The tracks that they worked on together appearing on Blue Banisters, as well as Riverside being released on Barrie’s record, is really a moment that represents mutual understanding and acceptance.

don't mind me just sharing what's inside the XCX Writing Sessions txt here so people won't have to download it lol -
8 likesThe Other Woman is probably top 3 most beautiful vocal performances she’s ever given… she made it her own & flipped the perspective of the lyrics. Absolutely her best cover.

You and Bill are hunting UFOs by the beach. You think he's ga ga crazy until you see them too. The green men leave the spaceships and ask you to show a Lizzy Grant song that proves humanity is worth its existence. What's the song and why?

I would probably show them Noir, I mean, 2010 Lizzy Grant is potentially the most intelligent singer who ever lived. The amount of thought that goes into these laptop demos are insane! And I'm not just referring to the amazing mixing these demos contain. The fact that each and every verse she sings is categorized into verses, and that every point Sparkle Jump Rope Queen makes is instantly followed by an example of why it's 100% true. Mainstream alien singers would not be smart enough to be able to put together valid arguments that are logical and non-contradictory. Those that are uneducated will not understand the complexity of a 3 minute masterpiece like "Noir" with a bunch jabs and inner conflictions unknown to the public. A highly educated individual like Lizzy Grant can make a meaningful laptop demo with 10x the quality, because she has 10x more logic and intelligence. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the intellectual escapism of 'Noir' and Lizzy Grant as an artist herself. The intelligence is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the music it will go over a typical listener's head. There's also Lizzy's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Jessica Rabbit literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these demos, to realize that they're not just amazing- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Lizzy's laptop demos truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the vibe in Lizzy's existential catchphrase "Glamourous, Famous, Notorious" which itself is a cryptic reference to Lizzy Grant's epic secret instagram account "notoriouswhitegirl". I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Lizzy Grants genius wit unfolds her screams over the 84kbps soundwaves striking their ears. What fools.. how I pity them. -

I’ve always loved Sad Girl, but I’m really thinking it’s one of Lana’s coolest tracks ever. It’s so underrated and one of her best, actually! Definitely one of my favourites on Ultraviolence. -

7 likesSweat definitely doesn’t fit the vibe of this album, but I really hope it’s released one way or another. Some fans have a really strange entitlement of how they think Charli should record & release her music, but I will happily take every last crumb of music she records.

7 likesI'm sorry but it's only after she dragged your fav that yall decide that she went too far? We've all seen what she said about Shygirl, SOPHIE, CupcakKe, Kim Petras, Lizzo, etc. (The list is fucking long) so you can stop pretending that you're all shocked by the same statements she posts every week and keep streaming her music like we all secretly do. Arca truly is an angel for her reaction tho and she shouldn't have had to go through all of this just to be able to create something with an artist she loves

6 likesIt’s quite clearly about how America turned a blind eye on the violence of war the country found itself in overseas, while everyone was “dancing” and pretending to be indifferent towards pain. I don’t see anything offensive about it and if anything it’s the closest Lana has ever gotten in criticizing America’s mindset during the war (for instance in Vietnam, I’m assuming?).

6 likesi don't really get it either, also, if the song doesn't in anyway mention ww2, why bring it up? i honestly have barely listened to that song but i would assume it's about finding joy when times are troubling/uncertain, going by the title of the song...

6 likesOk I'm no psychic (or at least a terrible one because none of my dreams ever came true) but two days ago, I dreamed that Lana was releasing some sort of disco/funk single where she was screaming in the chorus. It was completely trippy and electric guitar based. I don't remember much about the music video, just that she was wearing some 40s purple jumpsuit with a large white belt and chunky white boots. Her hairstyle was kinda similar to the L'Officiel Paris shoot. There were a lot of 70s psychedelic stuff, with geometric backgrounds, multicolor and cloning effects. She was using her high pitched voice in the bridge. I had the melody in my mind when I woke up but of course I forgot it. Lana, if you're reading this, make me a real psychic instead of an obsessive fan, please

6 likesI loved BB but I hope for the next record she steps it up a bit in the production department. I’d love to hear something with multiple instruments like Music To Watch Boys To. I’d honestly be here for Rick’s comeback if and only if: 1. He used clear vocal production (I hate the muffled vocal production in several honeymoon tracks and on BPBP). 2. He used clear production overall (no muffled Freak like bass and no ugly synth like sounds from the 13 Beaches chorus)

6 likesI feel like she used to sing in the past tense and now she sings in the present tense. She used to always be reflecting on "the way things were" and "the best of the past" of her life and relationships. Nostalgia used to inform her music and artistic expression through more grand, cinematic world building. Now, she is reflecting on the present and her development as a person is reflected in her development as an artist - there's a turn towards simplicity in production and less of a need for world building... just morning coffee thoughts

6 likesguns and roses is so good and so overhated in this fandom for no good reason. the heavenly reverb and bridge send me to another universe, and i love the little storyline of Yayo, G&R and I Talk To Jesus

She literally said a year ago that she wants to play a character for her next album (she was also planning to wear a blonde wig for it and i think this is why she wore it once on all stars) so i dont think you should treat this whole "sell out" theme too seriously... im sure she pretty much knows its not going to do crazy numbers in terms of sales and streaming and after that she will go back to her usual self. -
