its great she's doing the deluxe for this album but its EXACTLY what we wanted for froot. at least she's doing it now and sticking to it instead of saying she's going to and then not.

I know it’s been said enough but I cannot express how much of a terrible choice K-12 was career wise after every thing that had happened. I would’ve just stopped caring about her altogether. Only reason I’m still rooting for her is due to the sole fact that I know she’s capable of becoming an amazing artist in time. These new songs are great examples of growth, the songwriting is definitely there! I just feel like she needs to broaden her sound much more than what we’re getting so far. More experimental tracks would be nice cuz she can definitely make it work with the right producers. She reminds me so much of Björk that I’m kinda expecting her to go out of her comfort zone with certain things. I felt like the world was hers after she released Cry Baby but she set her standards so low, I was actually shocked. Never would’ve thought I’d be sitting in a movie theater feeling second hand embarrassment the entire time watching K-12 But either way I’m glad she’s getting somewhere, hoping she doesn’t fuck it up along the way

I think the sound of this album is going to be totally unexpected. Now that she's really told her personal story in Blue Banisters, I think she's going to let loose and become a little unhinged in the best way

Lana calling NFR her best album when some of you like to pretend that she doesn't care for it that much

It’s so interesting to hear her outrightly declare what she views her best album to be. I remember in an interview the week leading up to NFR’s release, she said that she really “objectively liked the songs” on that record. And I think there’s so much that goes into informing that opinion — it is very much a modern classic by any standard when you really listen to the melodies, lyrics, and the overall presentation of it that is the golden age of California in a nutshell; it’s like, instantly iconic. What I’ve always loved about Lana is that she can acknowledge how good her work is without attributing that goodness to the fact that it can win over even her biggest skeptics— NFR is an amazing album before the fact because as she has said, what’s there to not like about it? It’s just Lana chipping away at her craft and doing what she does best, and based on the way she talks about it in this interview, she seemed touched that the record she considered to be her best was also perceived that way. It’s not her best because the critics deemed it so. Nonetheless, it’s a shame that not all her records have experienced that level of acclaim, which they truly are all deserving of.

I think that Lana has something really special up her sleeve for this next album, whenever it may be released. Another thing I'm looking forward to is seeing the location this album is inspired by/representative of. Here's how I see each of her albums/projects so far: AKA - Newark, New Jersey Born To Die - New York City Paradise - L.A, California Ultraviolence - Brooklyn, New York Honeymoon - Venice, Italy Lust for Life - L.A, California NFR - Laurel Canyon, California Chemtrails - Tulsa, Oklahoma Blue Banisters - Arcadia () / L.A, California

Remember in 2016 when she said she had another New York album within her? Well, I’m waiting…..

Do you remember when she said (about LFL) "the next album is less dreamy" (than Honeymoon)? Well I want that but in reverse Make me dream and float miss Lana

people are curious to hear HL cause she teased a lot, she always teases the songs that we DON'T hear (INHA, the Emotional Machine demo, etc.), we obviously had no idea how it sounded so there was no way for us to see if it was good me personally I'm not impressed cause ADIAML has like 6 ballads out of 10 already and getting another ballad that goes nowhere and adds nothing is boring

Happy Loner is cute but it feels like we already have 5 songs in her discography like this , I guess this is why she didn’t add it to the album in the first place.

Ok, so the core problem about ADIAML is that everything - the singles, the visuals, it's (allegedly) overall topic - SCREAMS motion, exciting production, fast tracks, lyrics about sociopolitics. But then halfway through, it just turns into a bunch of "the usual Marina business" ballads about breakups and self-acceptance. It's not that the songs are bad, it's just that they feel out of place on an album that put all of it's focus on 5 tracks that are not representative of the experience you get when listening to it. And now she's doubling down on that with the deluxe tracks. Happy Loner is a cute song, but it's basically Solitaire 2.0. with more on-the-nose-lyrics and does nothing to compliment the album. It's just another (solid) track for the long-tail. Kinda disappointing. Apart from that - were her "relateable" lyrics always that cringy? I'm not sure whether her songwriting changed or if it's just about me not being in my teens anymore but edgy-tkes like "Waking up late, I feel demotivated, everything's wrong, guess my thoughts escalated. When I'm alone, things are under control, when I'm alone, I can turn off the world. I try to escape, but I can't lose my mind- that's why I can live a cOnVenTiOnAl LiFe" or "They don't understand, why I like being alone. I don't wanna be so accessible, emotionally I'm on the edge of a knife. That's how I learn, that's how I learn to SURVIVE!!11!1!" are just so f*cking pretentious and cringeworthy. It's the song equivalent to people who constantly share "introverts are like this"-memes on social media, acting like preferring to stay inside and read instead of going to a party makes them some sort of special, unique and mysterious person.

"But I can say all of my creative cosplay — aka notes from my real life — did widen up the sound in popular music for people to make a departure from a pure pop sound to something more diarist.” let em know

I try not to rank her albums anymore because they are all great and offer different things. Born to Die is grandiose and exciting. Paradise is darker and elegant. Ultraviolence is even darker, more raw. Honeymoon is very refined. LFL is a great collection of various sounds. NFR is a chill, coastal California sound. Chemtrails feels like a cabin in a winter setting in the midwest. Blue Banisters encompasses several things from heartbreak to family, and offers a deeper look at Lana's past and mindset. They are all great albums, and I don't think they can be compared. They all bring me joy.

Lana did an interview with Variety because of this Hoping we get to see more of what she said during this (if she said anything else) https://variety.com/2021/music/entertainers/lana-del-rey-ultraviolence-born-to-die-blue-banisters-1235123179/ “But to be honest — and this is the takeaway — my proudest achievement is continuing to uphold my personal truth in a time when truth is often questioned and rarely valued.”

As a young twenty something who struggles with mental health on a daily basis and is actively seeking therapy, I find Marina’s lyrics quite relatable and comforting. Happy Loner couldn’t have come at a better time. I actually find Marina to be one of the better writers when it comes to writing pop songs that deal with themes of general isolation, loneliness and insecurity. Happy, Soft to Be Strong, Obsessions, I’m a Ruin, Numb- all tens Like personally I don’t need a whole lyrical dissertation on depression or the entire DSM 5 in the form of a song for it to be deemed good

well, here's my unpopular opinion... i think the born to die tracklist/flow is perfect i never thought anything about diet mountain dew coming right after video games i also like brite lites after pawn shop blues because of how strange it is... the entire flow of that album is weird, but i'd say that weird & offputting makes the album even better & really shows off it's cohesiveness despite it's variety of sounds & genres

“stole the joke” I think she was just teasing this person not trying to pretend this is her own joke. This person seems just as pressed

regardless of timing it's still disrespectful, why does it matter what her hair looked like? especially when it was so long ago? saying that maybe it was a good idea that she shaved her hair when that was probably one of her lowest moments personally & with the media is really inconsiderate, i think people often forget that celebrities are human beings just like the rest of us & not spectacle for us to freely criticize & pick apart every aspect of their appearence/life

It’s surreal seeing Lana mention so many of her records in one interview! I never thought I’d hear her say which record she deems as her best, either! I wonder if she has any intentions of topping NFR! for her own standards or if she’s content with the quality of work she’s generated & solely making music for the fulfillment of it (aka “playing real good for free”) For me, at least, Blue Banisters almost felt like Lana delivering a breath of relief for telling her narrative without any room for further explanation. In short, it was a clarification and confessional piece chronicling her life. Now that she’s set her story straight (so to speak), I can’t help but wonder where she’s headed next. Will we get a “day in the life” view of Lana’s world like with NFR, or should we expect something different? Either way, I’m ready

i'm a midwest girl myself so i also totally understand the album at that level, it's really reminiscent of the colder seasons, especially fall, i think she did a really great job of capturing that energy, i think the slight southern influences also add to the album, also, i feel like this album is strangely festive? i'm currently listening to the album with only the christmas tree lights (it's already dark out) & it's such a vibe! nawwal is especially cozy, at the same time, some songs from this album are very summery, such as wild at heart & white dress, i think it's really nice that this album can fit a variety of moods & vibes, i'd say that could contribute to it aging well, a cozy december night with a light snowfall? nawwal, a hot, summer afternoon with a peachy sunset? white dress, a bright, late spring morning? chemtrails, she's versatile!

I swear Marina fans are never satisfied everybody was so hyped for this song after it was left off the album and now it’s here and everyone is disappointed. It’s a cute song and it sounds like a natural progression from the demo snippet we heard

Its curious for me to see how she explicitly acknowledges here NFR as her self-considered best own album (back then when she released it, at least). I always was interested to know about how she felt herself about the album, given the fact that the critics were so loud about it, yet she never said anything publicly about it, more than some generic thoughts regarding loving it and so. Maybe that's the reason why she teased its almost entirety before the release. She had never done that with any other record. Anyways, quite surprised. I always thought that she just deservedly enjoyed the praise, yet wasnt completely full in with it.

i want to talk to whoever runs ldrvillage. these busted designs don’t represent anything to do with the blue banisters era at all. like, they’re literally horrendous? new merch drops every other day but it’s just 2012 and 2015 pics with LANA DEL REY pasted on it. like ? we couldn’t get a Black Bathing Suit with a cute lana logo embroidered on it? a normal t shirt with the album cover on it? they couldn’t have done something like Taylor did with the all too well notebook for Text Book? a cute little litho of a map of la with some lana design? red cowboy boots? a ‘Hot Coffee’ thermos? sorry for the angry post, and i know merch isn’t that big of a deal, but the quality of this stuff sucks ass. to think this is the same person that was selling Coke spoons back in 2015, it seems as though she doesn’t even look at what is being released now and it’s frustrating because there’s so much potential. i’d rather have 10 merch pieces that reflect the era and are designed well, than have 10 merch items drop every 4 days that look as though they were made in 2 minutes on Picsart
