28 likesThis picture was just posted on Sveta’s Instagram. They gathered for New Years. There will probably be more pictures and videos shared later on by other people who attended such as Chuck, Alana, Charlie, maybe even Lana. Edit: There is a video of Alana doing karaoke, which has been surfacing since the morning of December 31. She’s wearing the same outfit as shown in the photo above and the video seems to have been taken at night. Knowing this, I’m not entirely sure if this was a New Years celebration or when it happened. I believe it was in Hawaii, it looks like Lana and some of her family and friends took a trip there and that’s where the party was.

13 likesAll the songs from this era are just god-tier…it’s so interesting to think about the headspace she was in following such an unwarranted backlash that led to the creation of some of the best songs she’s ever made—a large majority of them unreleased. I remember in her Instagram Live on Blue Banisters release day, she said that making another record didn’t seem like the next step to “being pissed off” but it was “all [she] knew how to do” at the time. Ultraviolence and its cumulative recording process is not just a career-defining moment, but a life-defining one. She was and still is so incredible.

13 likesmy prediction for a possible recording timeline Early 2013 • Money Power Glory (Greg Kurstin talked about how this song was recorded “very early on” in the album process, and the version on the album is untouched from that first day) January 2013 • Black Beauty demo April-May 2013 • Cherry Blossom • Nectar of the Gods • Living Legend • West Coast demo/radio mix June 2013 • Unidentified Flying Bill (confirmed to be recorded June 2013 by NightBird Studios) • Flipside (confirmed to be recorded June 2013 by NightBird Studios) Fall 2013 • Nowels version of Shades of Cool • Nowels version of Sad Girl • Nowels version of Brooklyn Baby • I Can Fly demo • Is This Happiness • Old Money • Fucked My Way Up to the Top demo • Ultraviolence demo • Fine China demo • Yes to Heaven demo December 2013-January 2014 • Pretty When You Cry • Guns and Roses - Cruel World written during PWYC/G&R session January-February 2014 • Cruel World final • Ultraviolence final • Shades of Cool final • Brooklyn Baby final • West Coast final • Sad Girl final (instrumental re-recorded only, vocal track is the same as the Nowels demo) • Florida Kilos • Fucked My Way Up to the Top final • The Other Woman • Black Beauty final (vocals not re-recorded, Paul Epworth production just added to the song considering vocal track is the same as demo) • I Talk to Jesus Auerbach version • Fine China Auerbach version • Money Power Glory Auerbach “demo” • Yes to Heaven Auerbach version *I am editing this as others share new information!!

13 likesYeah I don’t think it was ever posted here but BlackoutZone talked about this, sometime last year I THINK (unfortunately ATRL was reset so I can’t find the post anymore). But he basically talked about how she was hard at work on the follow up to BTD when they decided to put Paradise together as an EP (and we know Lana herself said she wanted it to be an album but was told it was too soon). They basically formed Paradise using songs she already had, and then continued on with that same pool of songs for the next full-length (which would end up being Ultraviolence). Not sure if what I’m saying makes sense but what BOZ was trying to clarify is that Paradise outtakes and Ultraviolence outtakes are essentially the same thing and there’s no real point trying to differentiate them, especially when some songs on UV are “older” than Paradise (Old Money and MPG, for example). He also talked about how Wild One was on an early UV draft titled as ‘Mike’ and that there’s no real “Honeymoon version” - if I’m quoting BOZ correctly here, he said something along the lines of, for some reason, Lana/her team reached out to Justin Parker regarding the song that year and that’s when Parker decide to slightly update the mix, hence the two very similar mixes we have, and the change in title to “Wild One”. He also said that “Lake Placid” was an early title for I Don’t Wanna Go/Tonight/Black Leather Moonlight. Maybe someone has a screenshot of his post in case I’m remembering any details wrong, but this is what I recall. Edit: and I think he also said what was discussed on the previous page, that Tropico was an early working title for the actual album, not an EP

12 likesi literally can’t believe how much music this woman was making in 2013 because she was on that extensive Paradise Tour at the same time. all of the music from 2010-2011 is kind of understandable, but how did she have the TIME and energy for everything she did pre-UV 😭

12 likesI really wish artists would do more behind the scenes things... I'm imagining a 2hour special where Lana and the producers (of said album) sit down together and talk about the demos, songs that didn't make the cut, their individual visions for the project, draft tracklistings etc. Even play demos and show footage from back then if they have it. Hear her discuss in depth the process and how the album came to be and how she ultimately decides when an album is finished. She could even have the creative team there to discuss the visuals and mood of the era? Album artwork, styling, fonts, the videos. Like a real deep dive into the creative process... Born To Die, Ultraviolence and Honeymoon especially deserve these!

12 likesWe truly have different tastes . No disrespect at all, everyone is untitled to their opinion. But, to me, the title track is so rich, so grand, so touching… Crazy for You and California didn’t excite me very much when I heard their snippet and, well, I don’t enjoy them that much (they sound too demo-ish, and the lyrics are a bit meh. Dragon Slayer is already 10 times better to me). again, this is not disrespect to you at all, and I hope you will find something in the new album that you will love

10 likesI really wish recording dates were by standard listed in official song credit linear notes, I love knowing the timeline of how albums came to be Honeymoon is a complete mystery too, we don’t know anything about when the final versions for that album were recorded besides sometime from mid 2014 to mid 2015

People wanting Say Yes to Heaven officially released. Why? There's 5 versions of it and you can hear them all on Youtube and download it. Do we really need a Blue Banisters 2 album with some of the songs we heard or all new songs? I prefer all new songs. -

LDR Album Process Discussion

Ultraviolence final version uses the same vocal track as the 2013 Dan Heath demo! And it seems that there is a Guns and Roses demo recorded at the same as Black Beauty based on her January 2013 lyric book! -
9 likesIt’s really interesting to me because whatever the album originally was had so many different sounds recorded so close together. Flipside was recorded in June 2013 during the same session as Unidentified Flying Bill, like what 😭😭 and the version of Money Power Glory that’s on the album was untouched after the day it was recorded and is actually probably a year or so older than the Dan Auerbach version that leaked as a “demo”. so the sonic world of the UV that we know was definitely still there for a while before Lana and Dan started tracking at Easy Eye, but so were a lot of other sounds too. i’m really curious what the album sounded like when she thought it was done at the end of 2013 lmfao, i feel like it was lowkey kind of a mess

8 likesTracklist with details on the tracks so far: 1. The Grants (Full song, not an "intro" track. Described as "cinematic and gorgeous") 2. Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd 3. Sweet 4. A&W (Also called "American Whore," almost eight minutes long, "wild") 6. Candy Necklace (feat. Jon Batiste) (Rockefeller Snippet from August) 5:14 in length 9. Fingertips (the W magazine lyrics from this summer, an example of the automatic songwriting, a stunner) 5:48 in length

8 likesDespite its lukewarm reception with fans, LFL is such a charming album for me. there was something truly special when she released the title track. I’ve always loved the album trailer, the music videos, the visuals Idk if it was because the time period but the album meshed so well with everything else that was being released in 2017. It was such a fun time to be a Lana stan, I miss the era a lot

7 likesi still wonder about that very first version of West Coast. I remember when she posted a muted video of her swinging in the room and it was supposed to be the music video of this early West Coast version. Does anyone know if the og demo is actually the radio remix we already have?

7 likesBlack Beauty was earlier than June 2013! She first mentioned it in an interview posted here on LanaBoards on February 27, 2013. My guess is that it’s from one of those January 2013 sessions with Rick.

7 likesIt’s also worth noting that Black Beauty could’ve been re-worked in early 2014 as well. Dan said that Interscope refused to release Ultraviolence unless Lana worked with “Adele’s producer” (Greg Kurstin and Paul are the only collaborators on the album who have also worked with Adele, and we know MPG is pretty old), but when Adele’s producer got to the meeting and heard the demos of the Dan Auerbach songs, he said they were great and he wouldn’t change a thing. So possibly around that time, he was given Black Beauty to re-work anyway because he said he didn’t want to change anything about the songs Dan had done?
