bahaha i went over to reddit to see what’s going on after reading the last few pages of this thread n came across this comment: “It amuses me that Lana fans will lap up song after song replete with edgy references to praying, preaching, heaven, hell, God, the Bible, judgement, sin, and Jesus...But she puts a track with an actual Bible-quoting pastor in it, and they all run to the toilet” #spilled n then they continued with “It's not just ‘a jackass in church’ - it's a guy begging God to help him love the people and things he already has in life instead of selfishly chasing after more money, power, and sex. What could be more feminist and anti-capitalist than that? What could be more honest and RAW? If fans can't hear that, they're not listening” which is an interesting take/interpretation on it ngl. Love that

i can understand and sympathize with the fact that some people aren't comfortable with religion, and for very valid reasons, but it does not mean that it still isn't something important for many people, lana has the right to believe in whatever it is she wants to believe and to express her beliefs however she wants, if people are so bothered by it, they should just not listen to it and move on, i don't really get how some fans are acting so disappointed and shocked, she's always expressed her beliefs through her music? have they ever listened to paradise? watched tropico? mariner's apartment complex?

I'm so glad she included the last 3 tracks to close the album, i've seen a lot of reviewers say it should've ended with Margaret or Let the light in, and Jon Denton said the last 3 tracks felt like bonus tracks but i personally think they breathe a lot of fresh air and life into the record. The album needed some fun because otherwise it would've felt too serious imo. I like starting the album knowing that there's a tasty treat towards the end, it wouldn't be a proper main course without the desert now would it. Hands on your knees i'm angelina jolie bitch!

I had to revive my account just to vote in this thread and say that this album outdid honeymoon for me I never thought that would EVERRR happen. I've only listened to it twice (once each on my green and dark pink vinyl) and I still feel disoriented like a bomb dropped out of the speakers. Like putting it on is an experience and I couldn't imagine just having it play in the background. The fact that I put on side C and didn't know what was about to happen to my psyche. Fingertips altered the structure of my brain

I was watching a livestream bc I wanted to see what surprise songs she would play, and she’s playing snow on the beach and before she started talking about Lana she was like “I’m gonna talk about someone and I don’t want you guys to freak out thinking she is here because she’s not” and then right before she started singing she was like “I wanna sing this song as some promo for her” 😭😭😭

Something about this album just feels so grand. It is, in every sense, Lana Del Rey. I don't really know how else to explain it. I love this album so much

i find it interestingly ironic how a lot of the things that people get mad about nowadays regarding lana are things she's done in the past or throughout her career and nobody had any issue with previously people are already getting upset at her for referencing black dahlia in the upcoming candy necklace music video... but nobody has anything to say about her recreating JFK's murder in the national anthem music video, i can see how referencing such events can be a tricky, and if they referenced, it should be done in a tasteful, respectful way that makes sense for the purpose of art, the music video isn't even completely out yet, it might make more sense once the complete video is released, regardless, i would like to think that lana is referencing her for a reason, i do think it would be distasteful to dress/imitate her just for the aesthetic or for no reason at all

This is for the fans. This is for the fans. I am so drunk and in love with how much she pours her craft into it. She did this for us. She did this for her. She did this for love. She did this for the craft. That’s why they call her Lanita. EDIT: guys I spent a decade listening to Lana serenade the romantic parts of my life that the jaded world refuses to recognize and I am falling in love with Lana again. I am so grateful to have her music here with me. She is the soundtrack of my life.

Yeah i dont get why people are so bothered by this one interlude. I'm not religious but i actually enjoy listening to it, it sounds creepy and dark and it's clearly an artistic choice to move the album forward. Also the preacher being included feels more ironic on lana's end, especially after american whore. Idk why some people are finding this so hard to understand. She's always been ironic in her music.
