Also, I firmly believe Ocean Blvd is shaping up to become one of Lana's most iconic / defining eras Born to Die, Norman F Rockwell and Ocean Blvd She's bigger than ever, the amount of material we got this year is insane, all the press talk, headlining festivals, selling out stadiums, controversies, acclaim etc She's legend

Yeah but I feel like this era really put Lana the person/musician herself on the level she deserves. She's easily a "main pop girl" now, as I said before, arguably the biggest female singer beside Taylor and SZA. And I don't think it's coincidence that this is happening during the Ocean Blvd era, which is an amazing and acclaimed record that put her "back to form". At the end of the year A&W will be topping all year end lists

Hate to say it but listening to her music feels more cringeworthy with each month recently. This is something that Lana has been able to escape, perhaps thanks to her experimentalism and neverending passion to music, even at her lowest or most desperate she never sounded "cheap", she's been able to finally gain international critics' respect. I don't know if it's because of my age but certainly the feeling that most of Marina's fandom consists of angsty teenagers does not help. I can't help but get the impression she's somewhat stuck in that immature music place and does not want to grow. I need her to release something actually mature and meaningful, not fucked with the food chain fucked with the farming too shit.

This record is transformative, and I have really had the chance to sit with it for the last 3 months and absorb it completely. It touches upon her experiences both as a woman in her thirties AND as a star whose legacy is now being solidified to the point where you can look back at all her albums and revel in their grandeur, impact on culture, and contribution to her own life's narrative. The release of this one has made me revisit every other record and appreciate it for what it represented for Lana (and her listeners) at the time, but also see it as part of her history without any comparison to be made between the respective albums. I especially realized that this was the case when we saw Lana watch her entire career retrospective unfold in front her during the Ride monologue at Glastonbury. Her facial expressions and the crowd behind her while her entire career was showcased was so cinematic and impactful, but I digress – the point is that Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd represents so much more than just what is shared on the 16-track album. The real beauty of it is found by synthesizing what she states in each song and what she leaves unstated for us to read in between the lines.

forever in awe of this record… it might be my favourite album of hers. it’s so magical, personal, sad, fun, beautiful, EVERYTHING! i gotta admit this era has been super dry in terms of visuals, but with a beautiful record like this, i don’t mind as much as i would if for example blue banisters had no visuals. i love that album but honestly if we didn’t have the arcadia mv or the bb mv i’d feel like we got robbed. super excited to see her perform though, even though i’m not going it’s always nice to see lana on stage via pictures and videos hopefully we get one or two more music videos, but even if we didn’t it’s fine

same here. been a fan for a decade now and i could never quite really understand what's so appealing about lizzy grant. sure, i like some songs from this era like brite lites, trash magic and disco (just realized i mentioned 2 outtakes instead of actual AKA tracks... oh well that should tell you enough how i feel about the album ) but idk i tried to see what's so special about this era in particular that a lot of people seem to love for years now but i'm ultimately failing at it. i don't get the appeal of this white trash trailer park hoe aesthetic either... i think you have to be born and raised north american to truly appreciate that and that's not my case, i just think it's trashy lol. i could never understand what makes lizzy so good, let alone BETTER than lana del rey. this is no shade to all the lizzy lipsters out there (truly, y'all are the sweetest on this website), but, quite frankly - and i talked about this in a very ~controversial~ status update before - i think what the fans really love about lizzy is the fact that she doesn't exist anymore. that this project will be forever unattainable, a glimpse of the past. so AKA will always be this little secret, a quirky easter egg in the big picture of lana del rey history; something palpable enough but something you could never have again. a similar feeling to grief, because lizzy is dead, artistically. but of course that's just my opinion

Adam is weird and obsessed Miranda is weird and annoying But cancelling her isn't going to lead to the improvement of any lives, it's clear Adam just wants $$$, when you scroll through his page it's almost all Colleen. Scary and Bizarre And I don't like his look. He needs to do something to that hair

the excuse i see a lot for not liking AKA is "lana was unhappy then" which is actually so dumb, i also have seen some people refusing to listen to AKA in general

Been a fan since Born to Die and I have always loved AKA, I love the organic production and imo it's as surfy as NFR, like NFR night time version There was a time where I was obsessed Now I don't find myself listening to it that much because I remember having it downloaded on my iTunes, and now I don't use that anymore so I have no direct access to it My boyfriend became a stan during NFR/Chemtrails and I made him listen to AKA twice, he liked it but said it was way too different and not exactly his cup of tea, although he appreciated the music I personally don't include it in rankings simply because, in my view, Lana Del Rey begins with Born to Die The fact that AKA existed before that feels more like an easter egg to me It is the debut and final album of Lizzy Grant and I absolutely love that

I’ve always wondered why she hasn’t sold merch online all these years… We could’ve funded masochism if she had some tiny drops here and there

Adam McIntyre gives me the ick. Yes, what Colleen did was weird, but he's clearly using her/this situation for attention and fame, dramatising it all Just look at his constant videos and social media posts about her + the thumbnails and titles for them all. He seems obsessed as he was years ago, but in a different way now. Colleen was inappropriate and crossed boundaries with fans, but I really doubt she's some sort of menace to society who got sexual gratification from it like people are claiming. Also, points were made in her video when she talked about the internet's mob mentality and desperation to cancel.

regardless of whether or not it could be technically considered "grooming" or if there are people out there who have done a lot worse, i still don't see why colleen had any reason to make sexual jokes and comments in a private group-chat with minors, not too mention all the weird stuff she did on stage, such as that thing she did where she had a kid stick their hand down her pants, c'mon now, that's fucking weird and there's no denying that

Pretty Dull was on the setlist for this session… … but naturally, it didn’t get uploaded (or she didn’t perform it at all) We could’ve had a professionally recorded performance of the song but we STAY losing

the one thing I disagree with is it being called "grooming." her behaviour was inappropriate and manipulative. but grooming by definition is "he practice of preparing or training someone for a particular purpose or activity." child grooming means grooming them in preparation for a sexual relationship once they reach legal age. there is literally no reason to think this is what she was doing. not all inappropriate behaviour is "grooming." adam is probably using that buzzword because he knows people are obsessed with it nowadays

Honestly think Colleen should start suing this kid for harassment and defamation. Adam McIntyre Is worse in my opinion, Colleen did some stuff in poor taste. But he’s essentially made her out as a child groomer…which is ridiculous. They don’t know what grooming even is. Adam has emotional fans who listen to his every whim and he knows how to use them for his benefit all the same as Colleen. I wouldn’t be surprised if Colleen attempts Suicide because that’s what cancelled culture does. It blows things up into the stratosphere far worse than it actually is. I hope this privileged white twink get’s some Karma.

I think the biggest factor is that it is pretty much buried beneath her now 9 albums plus collabs, EPs, remixes, etc. on top of the mountain of unreleased music, it becomes really overwhelming for a newer fan to start combing through her material. It is also a pretty unique sounding album with the 'surf noir' sound and B movie aesthetics, it clashed with Lana's then luscious hollywood glamour image. I remember vividly opening up iTunes and seeing BTD's cover, looking Lana up on Youtube and falling in love with her music. By the time I learned about AKA's existence, Honeymoon was months away to be released and I had already been playing BTD and UV to death while waiting for Honeymoon, so I had plenty of time to get familiar with AKA. Queen of The Gas Station was my favourite song off of it for a loooong time, but nowadays I think that title goes for Pawn Shop Blues.

It's an outtake from the Rolling Stone UK photoshoot that she posted on her instagram. Though, I don't think the tweet was suggesting that the photo was from the supposed video, but rather just using it as a decorative visual for the post x

Oh, you know I love to talk about HER I feel like another factor in AKA getting a bit buried is (maybe obviously) that she’s just released so many more albums. Like, even becoming a fan in the Honeymoon era, there were only 3 studio albums and an EP, as opposed to 5 more since then. New fans have a much larger, readily available back catalogue to explore, and probably aren’t as driven to find every scrap of music (although there are still plenty, as evidenced by this site!!). Do I think they’re making a huge mistake? Duh! I’ll always believe AKA should’ve been bigger in its own time, and should be way more valued as part of Lana’s artistic legacy now. It’s honestly bizarre that with a producer as well-known as David Kahne involved, it hasn’t had a widespread reappraisal… but we can hope, and until then, I’ll enjoy AKA being our best-kept surf noir secret

The truth is that the tiktok kids are collectively boycotting AKA because it wasn't released as a 22 track lp with Ben, Axel Rose Husband, Coconut and Key Lime Pie, Reflec, Trash Magic, Lemonade Motorcycle Heaven, Jimmy Gnecco, Hundred Dollar Bill and Motel 6 on it. They won't stop till justice has been served

the fact that people are completely on her side here even if you don't like adam or the way he's going about this, it's still clear that colleen's relationship with him was very weird, and colleen making a song as a way to apologize or explain herself didn't help at all

That's so weird to me considering she was very vocal about being unhappy all through BTD, UV and Honeymoon and only started talking about being in a better place emotionally around LFL. So are they not going to listen to anything pre LFL

tbh i nwver really understood people saying aka is so jarringly different from btd. like yeah they have fairly different production but the writing style and themes always seemed quite similar to me. like the differences between thwm feels equivalent to the differences between uv and hm. and i feel like honestly aka is more similar to her discography overall than btd is so its always been weird to me that fans act like she artistically wasn't the lana we know and love yet. the only logical reason i can think of to why its not vwry popular with lots of fans especially new fans is bc its so hard to find/access. like either they don't have a lot of experience listening to it so they haven't had time to fall in love with it or even they use it "not being good" or being "too problematic" as an excuse for not listening to it instead of admitting to themselves that its just too much work to find it. like i truly find it one of her best albums but i feel that way about most artists' debuts. its the clearest image of her as a regular person and has the most relatability to the average person. like yeah she's improved artistically and as a songwriter so much over the years but theres something so special about this album and i hope she does rerelease it someday (it took both david bowie and elton john a few decades to rerelease their out of print debut albums so lana still has plenty of time). i'm at least glad lana has started acknowledging it as her debut again bc its too good to ignore.

OKAY SO, I went ahead and extended Speed Drive myself: new intro, looped first chorus and new bridge/hook (kinda) before the last chorus Runtime in now 3:32, which is even longer than expected honestly Let me know what y'all think about it https://krakenfiles.com/view/IbyGyfbmFd/file.html

there's a lot of people on social media nowadays, mostly young people, who somehow think her lizzy grant days were problematic/traumatic for her for no reason, they claim that she was a prostitute, living in poverty because she was living in a trailer park, being groomed, or addicted to drugs, i'm actually a massive fan of the lizzy grant era and AKA is my #1 favorite album of all time, so clearly i'm very biased towards AKA and the music she made during that time for what it's worth, a lot of people here really like AKA and it seems like the lizzy grant era in general has become more popular here in the past few years, i honestly don't have any social media really so i really don't know for sure what people feel about AKA, i feel like some people may prefer lana's mainstream major-label albums because they do sound quite different compared to AKA, AKA isn't nearly as cinematic or luscious sonically, it's a completely different feel, people are allowed to like what they like, but my issue is people acting like it's wrong to listen to it because they claim it's problematic i actually was watching a video yesterday of somebody showing off their vinyl collection and all they could really say about AKA was that it was "camp" and i honestly felt a bit offended because it seems like "camp" is just a code-word for "bad", AKA is genuinely a masterpiece, not ironically, not in a campy way, GENIUNELY, SERIOUSLY a masterpiece
